I just got severe cramps under my rib cage and also on my arms and legs when I attended my grandsons hockey practice.  However I have just been diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis which is an auto immune disease that affects the thyroid.  I am now on thyroid pills so am hoping it will get better.  Apparently it is common if you have a thyroid problem but you need to see an Endicronologist to get properly diagnosed.

Wow I can't believe I found other people who have this. Sometimes a few minutes after I get out of the shower I get so crippled by the cramps that I end up in the fetal position on my floor waiting for them to go away. GasX usually helps it go away faster. I've had this since I was at least 8 years old, and I remember the first time I had it I thought I was dying! Been happening regularly since then and I'm 28 now :P

It's too bad all of us are in the same boat but none of us have been given a true diagnoses. I have been suffering from the same thing since my early 20's now I'm 35. Everything that was written, I feel exactly the same. The same comparisons with when the cramps start, then to immediately go running to the nearest bathroom. Maybe one day the mediCal field can finally really get some true advancement with this condition.

I've had this for about 12 years. Not sure about the serotonin levels but I am bipolar disorder so quite possible. My stomach skin and I guess the fat under skin also feel cold to the touch. My lower back also feels cold as do my sides in places. I also feel like I've been kicked in the testicles and they also feel cold. I barely pass any wind during a bout of it. Mine started after the shock of coming off my motorbike. Doctors diagnosis I ibs. I went to a physio for the back ache and explained the symptoms to him. He told me it's not ibs but a muscle memory. Mine can be triggered by the cold air (fans a/c etc) but also garlic and some other foods, stress also is a biggy. He said I needed three sessions to resolve it and an occasional tune up thereafter and what do ya know? It worked. For about 3 years Ive been pain and bloat free until recently. It's time for that tune up.

Reading all of these symptoms applies to me as well. I have been suffering this for about 2 years now. My symptoms occurs during exposure to cold wind like a fan, or a/c, and especially wheni am just wearing a thin t-shirt. The cramps are getting more chronic, and for me it lasts for about 2 min. then it tapers off, then after 10 minutes it reoccurs again, and again. I usually try to massage my stomach and it sometimes helps. Also, the symptoms also occurs after heavy meals especially spice, or after having a 6-pack of beer. The stomach pain is associated with lower back pain, and the smells from my stools are very abnormally intollerable by most. I wish someone can narrow it down to either a GI tract problem, a hormonal problem, a central nervous problem, a disease, or whatever they have been diagnosed with and what medical treatment has worked for them. It sucks because i used to walk around the beaches, or just be outside with no shirt on, and now i feel like a wuss not being able to endure these things anymore, esp at age 28. The warm pads do help the pains to go away quick, but who wants to wear around a warm pad on the beach on a fair day?

Im living in middle east too (UAE). Having same problem. Little cool air to my feet causes gas in my stomach. And some weird noises too. If i dont make my feet warm i will end up in toilet urining and farting. Keeping myself warm makes me sweat and it feels bad I eat fast foods every day, i drink pepsi and sprite every day. I will try to change my diet. But i dont think food is the reason. I think its usual problem in the middle east. Outside is very hot and when you come from outside to cool room with AC it can cause every problem

i get bloating and icky feeling after sleeping with the a/c-- large airy burps and i feel like i need to pooch out or compress my stomach. i lived in egypt for many years and when it was hot and i slept under a fan (no a/c) i got diarrhea until i learned to wrap my stomach with a scarf before sleeping. it's true that in the middle east they say 'a cold in stomach' and everyone wears an undershirt to bed. but now in texas with a room a/c, not central air, no diarrhea, just the major production of huge airy burps (for a couple of hours after waking at least) and the icky feeling. hyland tissue salts #6 (kali phos) helps somewhat. this is the fourth day this year i've had it so came to the net to see about other people. i will wrap my stomach with a scarf before sleeping. if i don't go to bed till 3am or so i don't need the a/c. if the scarf doesn't work i guess that's what i'll do!
