Wow......your comment really helped me. I DO have scoliosis and I've been getting these spasms in the left side of my abdomen, right under my rib cage off and on for about a year now. I kind of had a feeling it was generating from my spine. Geez....these are soooooo uncomfortable. Thank you for shedding some insight into what these might be.

Have you found out what is causing your pain? I have the same exact symptom. When I bent over to pull on my boot, the spasm definitely felt like the most severe charlie horse. If it had not let up by me pressing and rubbing it out, I would have been laid out on the floor. I still feel soreness in the area of my stomach. So there is aftermath pain for me. Please let me know if you have found out what it is? Thanks, Gina

HI EVERYONE I too have been getting these spasms as I call them it started with lifting some heavy boxes and thought it was just a one off but then it happened just bendind down to pick something up and even just washing my lower body it frightens the live out of me and as one person said its so hard for it to go . aafter being fobbed off from several doctors saying its muscle pain I am now having test for gall stones whatever it is its not normal and is affecting my job and everyday life someone suggested it may be linked to the menopause but who knows its nice to realise I am not alone but if I have my ultrasound and vital test and it shows nothing sinister then I will sleep better at night

I never did get an answer from a doctor. It has been over 10 years and they continue to ignore the pain and take guesses but they have had no answers. I have relief but I don't know for sure what has done it. I seldom get the terrible cramps now and when I do they go away within a few minutes. It has made a world of difference to me. I can tell you the things I have started to take but I don't know for sure what has made the difference. I take: Vitamins B-12 5000mcg and D3-5000IU; Omega-3 Krill Oil 350mg; Arthro-7Joint Support; Vitafusion Calcium 500mg Gummy; Vitafusion Energy Metabolism & Bone Support Gummy. I have tried to stop taking all of them and then adding them back one at a time, but I still have been unable to tell. I think the reason is some of them stayed in my system for a while after I stopped taking them.

My dr who I really respect says calcium very hard to absorb and highly recommends natural diet choices such as almond milk over supplements...take it with your supplements if you like but most just goes down the toilet. Thinks I will try the potassium too for cramps.

40 year old male. I have been dealing with this for 23 years now. I was initially told back then when it first happened but I strain my abdominal muscle and had a tear so this whole time I thought that I had a hernia. The pain comes on the same way from stretching or bending awkwardly. It we'll start out as an intense spasm and feels almost like a fist is trying to push through my stomach on the right side. Two weeks ago the pain begin again and since then the spasms have not stopped. So far I have had an ultrasound on my gallbladder and a CT scan on that area and nothing has shown anything. Next I am getting nuclear testing on my gallbladder. I was prescribed a muscle relaxer but not like a valium or xanax or anything it is something that works on your organs. They do not help.

My pain is on the right side 95% of the time. It does ball up into a noticeable lump, and feels like someone is trying to shove a volleyball into my ribcage from the bottom up...and around to my back. Like you...mine started when my gall bladder failed and had to be removed, only 4 months after a 3x heart bypass. My gall bladder had no stones in it. It just shriveled up and died and I've had these spasms every since. I've mentioned them to every doctor from primary to gastro to orthopedic......and all I get is "huh". It is pure agony when they happen and when I get hit with one, it doesn't stop there....it just keeps on coming over and over.

Thank you 'guest' for your remedy to this bizarre thing! Same thing, excruciating Charlie horses in my upper right abdominal quadrant. If I try to bend over or do something like a crunch, it triggers it every time. Or if I sit then move wrong. Had five back to back episodes when I was driving the other day. I have to hold my right arm straight up and take deep breaths and breathe through it. Thought I was alone in this too. God Bless y'all.

For the last several years, I have experienced a severe muscle cramping right above and to the right of my bellybutton. The unfortunate issue still reside with medical professionals. I'm not looking for a medicated solution, but the solution. Just last night I was watching TV and the spasms were the worse they have ever been. Started in the area I mentioned and a knot bulged, about the size of a tennis ball. Then, the pain radiated down and to my lower abdomen area. I eat healthy, workout and thought I was going to be sick.

After reading many of the messages, I may need to pursue this issue further. I suppose until the last few times, I just recovered and went on with my life, but since they are more often and much more severe, I'm seeking an answer. Thank you all for sharing...
