Well it has been 9 months since they re attached my ureter to my bladder... I do have to say . I am so glad i have not had to have another stent put in! Im starting to get back to normal. But there are a few draw backs. I was informed at my last urologist vist that because of the dsmage i now have reflux in my injured ureter. So i csnnot hold my bladder when i feel the need to urinate... Becsuse the pain of the urine flowing back up into my kidney. Its horrible! And there is nothing they can do to fix that. I also was told i will need to be on a low maitainace antibiotic the rest of my life because of the reflux now. I am at high risk of reocurring uti's n kidney infections. Doctor told me i am not out of the woods. But i am back to work full time and have been since march. I do get pain in my kidney often too. Possibly because of the reflux. I did give my med records to an attorney and he has been reviewing them and i should know if they are going to take the case ( if there is a case) in a few weeks. Ill be sure to post n let you all know. Just hang in there!! It'll get better. :)
July 29th I had robot assisted hysterectomy.1 week later I started having pain went to ER was told I had cyst.. So I'm like okay take prescrpt and all will be good. Finished meds and then leaking started. Dye test performed showing tear close to bladder. Stent was placed I was told to help tear repair itself and stent removal for 11/28. Iwent in for regular visit and xrays looked good to doctor and he removed stent. Leaking started before I could get home. 2 days later stent replaced and this doctor told me only surgery would repair this. Now I am in my 3rd week of recovery from surgery that included making a hole in bladder and reimplaint. I have 3 more weeks of recovery to go all because of a non-invasive surgery which I have the same scar if I had had regular gut me hysterectomy. This has not been fun 1 bit but Thank God I am healing and recovery is slow but constant. All should be fine when stent is removed in 3 weeks..
Hello,
I had a lapro-hysterectomy. My right ureter was sewn shut. My gyno didn't do a dye test either. I suffered for 11 days before my doctor finally had me re-admitted. I had a stent and it popped out of my kidney. However, I had a great urologist, and he has fixed everything just fine for me. I too have had trouble finding a lawyer. I filed a complaint with the medical board and they have to do an investigation. I am almost positive that they will find my doctor did not diagnose me properly after my sugery. I suggest you file a complaint too. They will let you know in writing- and if it is in your favor, you will have no problem finding a lawyer.
Hello, Your story sounds exactly like what I just went through. I currently have a stent. I would like to know how everything turned out for you? How long did it take until the urine was absorbed by your body?
Has anyone been successful in getting attribution? Dr cut my ureter, I had to be drained, from a tube stuck in my side a dozen times, the liquid became infected 3 times, Dr said it was a normal reaction to fill up with fluid, I have lost everything!! Things are healing but my financial, mental state will never be the same!
How are you doing Linda? I know you posted this 6 years ago but for 17 years, I suffered with urethral pain every time I urinated. Every doctor I saw told me there is nothing wrong and the last urologist I saw told me the pain was in my head. by this time I had already has several CT scans, an IVP, X-rays, rectal exams and scopings not to mention all the bladder scopings. I finally insisted on an MRI and there it was....a urethral diverticulum the size of a plum. I took the MRI disk to Vanderbilt's urology clinic and they removed and repaired the urethra and I have been pain free for the past 7 years. My urologist at Vanderbilt told me it most likely occurred during my C-section. If you're still having pain, get an MRI. It may be a urethral diverticulium.
I hear all the stories and am horrified. I had an emergency Gall Bladder surgery this past January. During the MRI to see if gall stones were everywhere, they found that I had a surgical clip stuck to my Uretha. Guess what - My left Kidney has failed completely. I didn't even get told that a clip was there. Hysterectomy was in 06.. For God sakes, Tell your patients if you screw up.. I thought the pain was due to a pinched nerve or something. Always in pain. Now I find this out.. Can't fix it, I'm out a left kidney altogether. Any legal
remedies that anyone knows of?
I too had a hysterectomy. I woke up after the op feeling absolutely terrible, with my blood pressure skyrocketing. The phycian felt that I have hypertension and treated me for that. I went home, only to have "tummy bugs" every 2 to 3 weeks. Eventually, I started urinating blood. This was the first sign that there was something very wrong with my kidneys. After much pain and sickness, it was discovered that BOTH ureters were blocked at the exact same place! How was this possible? It would seem that the gynea somehow cauterised them both. But the urologist denies that this is the case. So the question still remains, how is it possible that both would be blocked (only after my hysterectomy) at the same place.
I have since had to have the ureters replanted into my bladder. The most painful op from which it is taking me forever to recover.
I had a lap assisted vag hysterectomy in 2008 for endometriosis but still have my left ovary. During my recovery, I had a bladder infection which I tool abx for. Then approximately 3 months after my surgery, I started having right flank pain. I was on narcotics for 3 years as they did not know what was wrong. I even spent a week at the mayo getting all kinds of tests. The only thing that was odd was during the cystoscopy, the pain was reproducted a million times!! I almost flew off the table. However, the kidney doc and the doc doing the procedure said it was all fine. I have tried: physical therapy, massage, accupuncture, tens unit and more meds than anyone I know. I even went to a shrink thinking it was all in my head. Now, I am off the narcotics because I hated feeling like a "drug seeker" and only take muscle relaxers. The gyn who did my surgery did not think the pain had anything to do with the surgery. Any other suggestions?
