Hi I am having the exact same symptoms and the consultant has put me on cysistat treatment. I have had no relief with it. Do you still suffer with it? Is there anything you recommend?
Hello again,
I am writing this for whoever wants to listen, I am now 4 weeks in of taking Lyrica and watching my diet and the past two weeks have been great. I do not want to jinx anything and of course it hasnt been all gravy, I have had the occasional spasm but on a scale 1 to 10 it is a 3 or 4. Before it was an 8 and it was constant.
Now when I get the spasms they can be around my vagina or rectum area, the same shooting pain up towards the inside of my body.
I stopped constantly using cold water whenever I go to the bathroom but I still have an epsom bath once a week, and slide an ice cube when I get the pain.
I also bought a pelvic floor exerciser which looks like an egg that you can unscrew in the middle and insert tiny weights and then you put it into the vagina.
I am having persistent urethral pain.I have anxiety and Deppression too.
Urine culture is negative.PSA is normal.
This pain is persistent since 6months.
What treatment you suggest.
Hi I know this may sound silly, but I start to get urethral burning and pain in the lower abdomen when I use charmin toilet paper and various other types of tp. Recently I've just been using clean clothes to wipe and it has helped tremendously. Idk if it'll help but I figured I'd throw it out there just in case
K so its now 2 months of taking Lyrica (gabapentin) things are much better than before but the spasms / burning are back, not in the same intensity as I previously said. My doctor thinks I have female urethral syndrome but you know what the more I read about it the less I think I have it? I dont have frequency / urgency. My bladder doesnt hurt.. the only thing that hurts is my urethra and an area under the pubic bone in the vagina. It burns and then I have those agonising spasms. Women in the IC network suggest benadryl to reduce the burning. I have started beta blockers and glucosamine supplement according to their advice. as the previous lady mentioned I have stopped wiping and only wear cotton underwear..
anyone out there with more experience on something else it would be helpful.. i cant go to physical therapy as there is "no one specialising in that" in my area -.-
This is the first post I have found that describes almost EXACTLY what I have. Pain like I'm being kicked in the urethra when I walk/run. It varies throughout my menstrual cycle. Better in the times of higher estrogen, worse during times when it's lower. No infections, no pain during or after urination, no pain during sex, no food irritations. I can see the red of the inflamed urethra and one specialist has also and even showed me on camera yet he did not have any answers for me after the tests came back negative for everything. And I have the same feeling you have where when I'm having a flare, for some reason it feels better when my bladder is full but obviously I can't hold my pee just bc it makes my urethra feel better lest I get a real infection.
What is the deal with tea tree oil that I'm reading it helps some people? How do you apply it? Mixed with something like olive oil? How much? Put it directly on the urethra? Like inside?
hey guys I know what you are going through and hopefully this will help as it helped me.
just make sure every time you pee that each and everything drop comes out. Shake and squeeze gently until every last drop comes out. after that get tissue and water and dab the peehole clean. the problem is in your urine. I've been dealing with this for a year before I finally figured it out.
This is exactly what I am going through at minute
Hey, I have just seem your post and was wondering if you could help me. I am 27 and just been diagnosed with a urethral diverticulum too, after being misdiagnosed for nearly 10 years. I am awaiting surgery but have been getting really bad UTI's at the minute. It stings after I pee and recently I have found blood in urine. It's a constant pressure on my bladder and is making me so miserable. I have been given 2 types of anti biotics which I've been on for a 2 weeks as well as painkillers and herbal tablets but nothing helps! Please advise if you have anything that helps!x
This is very helpful indeed. I've only just begun having the pain for about three mths now. I am going to start progestrin and see if that helps. thanks.
Got checked if its pudendal Neuralgia/ Pudendal nerve entrapment?
i have been having a weird itchy sensation in my urethra that comes and goes and its been happening since i had unprotected anal sex 8 months ago. i've had urine test and there always negative and the only thing that seems to soothe it and this is irritating and i dont know what to do. any suggestions
Hiya that's what my Dr said it is (pudendal neuralgia ) and she is treating me for it with Lyrica. Its working well it has taken the pain down by 70% but food is still a major issue. I cannot have; sugar (not even fruit), gluten, any alcohol besides white wine, anything processed like ham.
And even with all this it still burns when I pee but the spasms are much more endurable.
My Dr said, you need to put some cream down there (like vaseline) and gently rub the area that hurts she said the nerves that are sensitive to touch are stronger -wider than the pain ones and eventually your body will learn that nothing is wrong or something. When I get the burning or spasms touching the area over clothes helps loads but when I stop it comes back but I think it helps with the duration of the flare. So I am keeping at it - you ladies ciuld try it too. X

Maybe you could have a nerve issue too, and this experience just triggered it. Mine started because I held my pee for 4 hours on a bus trying to see the Northern Lights :(
This just started for me two weeks ago while air traveling with a cold and really stressed out. A valium suppository sounds perfect. When we get back where I can see my doctor I am going to ask for this treatment. Thank you for sharing.
