OMG!! I have had fantastic experience with a product called LadyBalance that I found in Europe. I haven't been able to find it here but it is possible to find it on some different web sites.

It is an all natural vaginal tablet which eliminates malodor, dryness, itching and unpleasant discharge.

The best thing you can do is to eat a healthy well balanced diet and exercise. Foods that are good for your vagina are pineapple, celery, yogurt, red grapes, cranberries, mint, watermelon, strawberries... anything that does not smell or have bad odor. Foods to avoid are asparagus, most dairy, onion, meat, fish, alcohol and coffee. Foods that give you gas. If you do this you will see a decrease in the thickness of your vaginal discharge. Also, Drink lots of water! U might want to ask for medication for your dryness as well.

It is your bodies lubricating itself. Its sort of embarrassing but thats what it is

I've had the same issues (thick creamy white discharge, no smell, bitter tasting, lack of lubrication) for YEARS now and nothing helps. I've done the peroxide tampon...with no real long lasting results. I've used pro-biotics, vitamins, diet change, I changed my soap (both bath and laundry), I've been tested for every STD under the sun and HIV, all negative. I've been treated as if it was BV or yeast but even after full treatment with creams and antibiotics it never fully goes away. It's really aggravating and embarassing. :-/ Recently I have started getting pelvic pain and other symptoms...and my doctor thinks that I have endometreosis. Although the endo wouldn't create a discharge, my doctor said that hormone imbalances can create discharge issues. I'm going in for surgery next month to diagnose/treat my endometreosis...and I'm going to have him take some discharge samples at that time and ask some additional questions. Keep your heads up, ladies. I've dealt with this stuff for almost 10 years, now...and if there are this many women having the exact same issue, our doctors won't be able to keep ignoring it and brushing it off as "normal" when it's obviously having a negative impact on our lives. If I find anything else out, I will let you all know.

I posted this a while back. Since the post, I have had my surgery and am almost fully healed. My doctor found endo all over my abdominal region, including in the back of my vagina, my intestines, etc. Since my surgery, I have had NO DISCHARGE. I can lubricate again properly and sex is much more enjoyable. I was put off because my doc said endo wouldn't cause a discharge like that but it's completely gone away since I had the excess growths removed. Are any of you having bad pelvic pain in your back and/or abdomen, seemingly worst near your period? If so I would get checked for endo. The surgery to determine endo was kind of expensive, but it's well worth it. I feel a thousand times better since I had it done. I hope this helps some of you! If my symptoms come back again, I will be sure to update. ~L

Ladies, this is totally NORMAL. ALL women have this, some women will produce more mucus than others, and also some months you will have more, some less, these are just normal hormonal fluctuations. If you are drier some times of the month that is also normal, it's because this white discharge you see is non-fertile cervical discharge. When you are fertile discharge will be stringy, clear and sweet tasting because this mucus is favourable to sperm, when you are not fertile (and you probably feel less turned on when you aren't fertile too) this mucus will be lotiony or creamy and white and bitter tasting, this mucus acts as a barrier to prevent sperm and trapping pathogens that could enter the cervix. This is the mucus that you are likely to see dried and cakey in your underwear. If you are very dry as in, it is seriously affecting your sex life, this is likely because you are anxious about this discharge, but it is the anxiety about the discharge and not the discharge that is likely to be the cause of your issues. Yeast infection is different, you will experience redness / itching / soreness and clumpy cheesy smelling discharge that is not just associated with sex. My experience - speaking to lots of women and charting my menstrual / fertile cycles as part of the rhythm method of birth control for years and years.

i am 33, and have experienced this for years. while it is a relief to hear that i am not alone, i cannot help but wonder why the medical community is not investigating further. i do remember a time when my discharge was normal. what has been happening for years since that time is NOT normal. i have been telling my doctor visit after visit, but test (after test) show nothing... there is clearly something else that needs to be investigated. new medical issues arise all the time, and this 20+ page post says that there is more research to be done. a woman KNOWS when something is not right with her body. it is beyond frustrating to be told otherwise, especially with overly evident symptoms, not to mention the increasing number of cancers related to female reproductive organs. doctors and medical researchers, please help us find a resolve!!

I am 35 and have something very similar.  My discharge became thick and white and it never changed - beyond normal hormonal fluctuation.  I cannot lubricate any more.  I did feel like I had a yeast infection - the inside of my labia near the opening to the vagina is red in a ring.  I have had multiple partners over the last year, so I became nervous (I get a full pap/blood test for STDs every 6 months) and went again, nothing.  Then I started getting burning when I pee, but not the "pissing razor blades" feeling of a full UTI, just discomfort.  No urgency, but I FEEL WEIRD inside without touching anything, like it's just irritated in there between the urethra and the vagina.  I tested for yeats, UTI, all STDs...nothing.  I am on a Mirena IUD and have been for years - not a bc problem.

The things I have noticed are as follows:

1.  When I start seeing someone new, I seem to get yeast infections on cue.  Enough so that I'll take a diflucan the week I begin sex, just to head it off (works pretty well that way).

2.  When its not yeast, I still get irritated and sore and dry and get that dreaded discharge every time I'm with someone new.  After awhile it seems to normalize (some in a couple weeks, some after months).

A couple of observances and hypotheses:

1.  my body is irritated by sperm, latex and unfamiliar bacteria.  The irritation seems to be an allergic or immune response to foreign bacteria and chemicals.

2.  this is exacerbated in uncircumsized men, who naturally carry more bacteria in their foreskin, which is damp and warm and a good breeding ground for them.

3.  I am free of all STDs.  I do not take any hormones.

Theory:Stay with one person for a minimum of 6 months to see how your body reacts.

If the male is uncut, make him wash thoroughly WITH AN UNSCENTED SOAP under thr foreskin, then pat dry.  He should do this immediately before, and immediately after sex,

Try having him pull out and ejaculate on your stomach for a few weeks.  If that does the trick then you can be sure that it's your reaction to his semen.

Abstain for a few weeks.  Wash with only purified water - no chemicals.  A showerhead and your fingers is all you need.

I have the same problem i have always had it. It seems to get worse after my period and during pregnancy. It has no smell but it does taste kinda gross if it is really bad, though i have never had a problem with infections or bad smells ever. My gyno told me that soem women have this problem but it is accually a good thing it is your vagina keeping itself extra clean. every women has a normal everyday discharge that accually 'cleans' the vagina. I have had this problem for over 6 years. It got worse during and after my first pregnancy. I was also worried and getting checked for std's then i got a new gyno and she told me what it was. We just have it more than most women. I also have bad cramps while on my period and in between periods the discharge gets bad and i have cramps she told me that i am accually feeling when i ovulate, that also is not very common so i think that the 2 problems go together. Does anyone else have those symptoms? I also dont douche, I am not sure tho if it would help i know that douching isnt good for you because it gets rid of the natural 'cleanser' we have but maybe thats what i need. I do need ti use lubrication during sex often or it does get painful, lubricant like ky jelly doesnt work very well it drys very quickly. I like 'lifestyles smooth 2 in 1 massage and lubricant' it works great and doesnt dry up as quick.  I like the more oily lubricants they work much better. So i know it is a pain in the ass problem but i thik of it as a good thing, I have never had any type of infections i havent even had a yeast infection before. I dont need to douche and i still smell good so i just take it as i am extra clean in there ;) There is medicines i am sure that could help with it if you cant stand it. Oh and i dont know if this matters or if anyone else has had this but i also suffer from ovarian cysts that come and go about every other month. They get to the point where the doctor might do something and then they burst, also very painful.

I have the same problem minus the dryness I have had the thick white lotion like discharge for 2 years now but never any dryness at all. It goes away though during sex and comes back maybe a few hours later. I hate it though and cant seem to figure out what it is

I had this too! Come to find out through a bunch of tests they caught an ovarian cyst on the ultrasound. Apparently they're normal and sometimes when they pop it's white discharge real thick with some throughout the day before the big burst and sometimes there's blood usually creamy blood

This was mentioned several pages ago and is right on the money:  Cytolytic Vaginosis

***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

I have suffered with all the same symptoms described in this thread. Was normal until about 7 years ago (am 32 now) then started having the thick, white, odorless discharge appear during sex with my husband. Creamy, gross stuff all over him, on the bed, running down my crack after sex, ugh! I vaguely recall my then OBGYN mentioning that the pH of my vagina was too acidic and she wanted me to use something (can't remember what it was) to get my pH back to normal - it was something alkaline. Anyway, I ignored her and didn't do it...it was shortly after then that I started having the symptoms. And not until I read about Cytolytic Vaginosis did I put 2 and 2 together.

Here is an excerpt from the above website:

The typical patient complaints associated with cytolytic vaginosis and lactobacillosis include pasty, odorless, white vaginal discharge, pruritus and vulvar dysuria (Table 1).8,10 A low-grade vulvar burning or discomfort may occur and increase with sexual activity, especially with cytolytic vaginosis.13,14 These symptoms are often cyclical in nature, being more pronounced during the luteal phase and reaching a peak shortly before menses.10,13 In addition, the patient frequently presents with a lengthy history of these symptoms.8 It is clear why these conditions, based on presentation alone, are frequently misdiagnosed as vulvovaginal candidiasis.

Most OBGYN's, NP, etc have never even heard of this condition, and it's usually misdiagnosed.

You can treat it at home with baking soda (alkaline) sitz baths or baking soda douching. The recommended douche protocol is 2 tablespoons in 4 cups warm water - douche 2x a week for two weeks. It can take up to three 2-week treatments. It is also recommended that you not use tampons during your period as menstruation creates an elevation in your pH, high on the alkaline side and can restore proper pH.

Hope this helps everyone as much as it helped me. :)

I am 29, I read so much on here, thank you everyone for your help. I have all the same problems, I AM NOT ON BIRTH CONTROL and I have not been for years.

also for everyone who says it is normal.  Please go read something elsewhere for your input.  How can this  be normal?  I wear a tampon everyday because it is so uncomfortable. (and yes I know how unheathly that is) If I don't I would have to change my underwear so many times in a day, it is so gross and thick. it is not clumpy, not yellow, not itchy. But I someones can see it coming out of me while sitting on the toliet.  This is not a sex only thing for me.  and have tested neggitive to everything.

thank you everyone that has tried to provide answers, I will now start the process in healing, and it is good to hear I am not alone

Female HealthVaginal Discharge

Vaginal discharge is normal and varies during your menstrual cycle. Before ovulation (the release of the egg), there is a lot of mucous produced, up to 30 times more than after ovulation. It is also more watery and elastic during that phase of your cycle. You may want to wear panty liners during that time. The things to be worried about include if the discharge has a yellow or green color, is clumpy like cottage cheese, or has a bad odor. If worried, see a doctor.

Different Types of DischargeIs this normal?Different Types of Discharge

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.Back to top

Is this normal?

We receive many questions about vaginal discharge through our "Ask the Expert" section. Below physician assistant Steven Johnson, explains what is normal and when to see a health care provider. One of the challenges to answering questions sent into a health care Web site is making sure that the person asking the question seeks the advice and care from her doctor when appropriate. There is often information not given that can really change the answer. For instance:

How old are you (really)? Are you on medications or do you take herbs or vitamins?Do you have pain or itching? Are you pregnant?Do you have other health problems (like diabetes)?

An important question is sexual activity. Sometimes it isn't accurate to simply say yes or no. Symptoms can depend on the number of sexual partners, kind of sexual partners, birth control, birth control failure, kind of sex you are having and if abuse is involved. I think you can see, it can get pretty complicated to get all the information needed to give the best answer possible. With that said, here is my best answer to the common question of vaginal discharge

.A normal vaginal discharge consists of about a teaspoon (4 milliliters) a day that is white or transparent, thick to thin, and odorless. This is formed by the normal bacteria and fluidsthe vaginal cells put off. The discharge can be more noticeable at different times of the month depending on ovulation, menstrual flow, sexual activity and birth control. It is not uncommon for the normal discharge to be dark, brown or discolored a day or two following the menstrual period. If you are having any of the symptoms below see your health care provider.PainItchingDiscomfortRash or sores alone or with a vaginal discharge
