Omg... This is horrible to read all of these things, after I got the Iud I talked to Rn who put it in about the burning and itching and they suggested using lube... I know I don't need lube... after reading all of this I really think it may be the Iud causing all of the burning and itching because I don't have a yeast infection or anything and my last partner and I were both tested for std's before we became sexually active. I'm so gonna get this dang thing taken out in a few weeks, especially since I'm not even having sex right now!!! What's the point of being miserable...

I 2 had the mirana in but didn't hav sex until the day b4 I deployed. While deployed I had ALL the same symptoms of vaginal itching, burning, and cuts between. Went in and got treated 4 yeast infection. The environment and pain was so bad the PA treated me 4 double. I went back n she told me bacteria that could collect. When I got back 2states it took me 3 weeks b4 I could c a DR. I asked him 2 remove it. After removing this I still hav not been able 2 get my normal feeling back. I still hav the burning, itching, and cuts!! I've been married 4 17 years and NEVER had problems like this till the mirana

I have been having the same problem. When I went to the emergancy room they told me it looked like herpes. But I have been with the same person for five years with out any problems until my Mirena. I've had it for 5 months.

I got the Mirena IUD a week ago.  The same day I got it, my vagina started burning and itching with a discharge.  By the next day I couldn't hardly sit down because of the itching.  I was miserable.  I couldn't help but scratch it, which made it 100 times worse.  It was swollen and felt like cuts.  I'm sure this was due to the scratching.  Called my OB/GYN and they immediately got me in.  He wasn't real sure what was causing it.  Said it could be anything from a venerial disease to just being traumtized from the procedure.  Well, it was too much of a coincidence for me that it happened immediately following the procedure.  I finally realized that the discharge was what was making me itch so badly.  I put in a tampon to avoid the discharge touching my vagina.  The swelling and itching has finally went down.  However, I don't want to wear a tampon for the rest of my life.  I'm hoping the discharge will stop.  I really want this to work out.

Yep. This is lame. I feel like a guinea pig for the drug companies, especially hearing that your doctor 'loves' it, and it's the only one your insurance covers. Ouch. I even did some research before having it inserted and never heard anything about itching and drop in libido. I mean, aren't we getting these things to have safer sex, not to lose our desire all together, or be afraid of the itching, burning and pain caused by making love? Well, that's how it is, in my case. Argh.
My boyfriend is the one who started looking up symptoms and discovering that other ladies are experiencing the same things that I am. I've only had it in 2 months and am not inclined to even test it for 6 months as I had intended. Thank you everyone for sharing and I hope all works out well for you when you get the chance to have it removed.

By tomorrow i will have my Mirena IUD for a week, I had it inserted on a Wednesday. Come Friday night my vagina felt odd. I dont know how to explain it; I just know it feels odd and has continued. When I woke to get ready for school I felt itchy (not crazy itchy though, but enough to itch:-)), and while laying in bed last night I noticed that I had a sort of burning sensation, I also seem to be kind of swollen a little bit. My check up is in about 4 weeks, so I'm going to wait it out. Also my period (of 8 freaking days now!!!) is weird, I'm not really bleeding red; it's more like brownish discharge that i usually only get the hour before my period starts and the last day of my period

I've had the mirena in for a year now and this year has been terrible the first two months i was fine and then i started getting yeast infections i got treated and then it came back got treated again and for some reason i feel like i still have something wrong with me. it burns after and sometimes it hurts and itches. sometimes i feel fluttering in my stomach and i don't think it's normal i can also feel strings inside as if they were scraping me i think my best bet is to remove it but but i don't like any other form of birth control so I'm stuck between a rock a hard spot.

I'm in London Ontario, I got infected by an std disease and transmitted to my children with taken doctor advices and I was having an unprotected sex with someone before I got infected this disease, I told the doctor that I was having body itchy, yellow discharge, and  big wart on outside of my vagina and have tiny blister in eyelid even inside my trough have tiny blister. And they told me my result are fine why this is happening for 71/2 months  those doctor don't even give std treatment at all. and this time I try to go to public health std service if they don't give me any pills I thing I'm gonna kill my self in 2014, and come back for the doctors who don't save my family, I will hunt them as they owed me I will give all kind of disease to them and their family . This will come when I became a ghost. I will be revenge in my unnatural spirit power. >;)

After reading all of your ladies' stories I've realized I have all of the symptoms you have! Every time I read a story I would write it down if I experienced the same symptom so I could tell my Dr. When I was done I had written down 15 symptoms. Let me tell you all, I thought I was crazy! I can't stress enough how much I appreciate all of you sharing your stories. One of the symptoms I have is high anxiety and not knowing why your feeling this way creates more anxiety! After reading all of your stories it made me feel a ton better! I'll list my symptoms for anyone out there who might be curious: 1. Mood swings/irritability 2. Milky white/liquidy discharge 3. Itching on vulva 4. Pain on vulva 5. Small "paper cuts" on vulva, probably from itching and tearing of my skin 6. Painful sex 7. Painful cystic acne on my face and chest 8. Very dry in vaginal area 9. Experienced 3 ocular migraines that I've never had before in my life 10. NO sex drive 11. High anxiety 12. Fatigue (even when I've had a full night's rest) 13. Sore breasts off and on 14. Have trouble coming up with simple words when I'm having a conversation 15. I feel like my head is in a fog all day long I should also mention that I have had the Mirena for a year and a half and when I think back, I think the symptoms started after about 5 or 6 months. I hope this helps some of you to lessen your worries. I am definitely making a Dr's appointment to get this thing taken out. I think I'll try the Nuva Ring or talk my husband into a visectomy.
