I had an ablation in 2007 and now believe I've had BV for some time. After much internet research, I am treating with vinegar douches and taking probiotics specific to vaginal health - this seems to be helping.

I am so glad to stumble onto this blog. I had the procedure done 12/2100..I had the one where I was in the hospital and they sprayed hot water inside my uterus to burn out the lining.
I have had a foul smelling watery discharge that will not go away..In the last 4 weeks I have use 4 over the counter Monistat treatments and now diflucan x2
I have had low grade fever and fatigue. Itchy and painful urination.

When I wake up in the morning I am Soaked with this terrible watery discharge. At first I thought is was urine.
Home from work again today with low grade fever and what feels to be a yeast infection but is not responding to any of these meds! I am waiting for the doctor to call me back as I type.
HELP...is this going to go on forever....I will never be able to have sex again!>?

I had the Nova Sure Ablation on 2/1/2012. I have had 2 bouts of bronchitis and 2 yeast infections. I have not stopped bleeding since I had it done.  I just started with an odor 4 days ago, went to doctor found out that I have BV. I have mostly like not of had yeast infectons but this bacteria running through my body for 2 months. I am on Flaygll 500 to kill all the bad bacteria that I have. If you are diagnosied with BV you have a very high rate of it reacurring. I've heard the only way to permantly get rid of it is a hysterectomy, which at this point I want. I am tired, nausea, and the constant bleeding is enough. I am going through depression because of this. If I knew that these were possible side effects of the procedure I would of keep my niagra falls periods that I had for 10 days not 2 months. The nurse at my doctor's said an odor usually means bacteria infection.  My gyno and I will be talking on Wed. I have no intimacy with my boyfriend, I am not happy with this procedure at all, and Nova Sure should include the possible side effects, if I would of known this I would of never had it done.

To the ones that have had NO side effects CONGRATS!!! Consider yourself very, very lucky and hopefully it stays that way.

To the ones that have problems THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting your comments, I don't feel so alone.

I am feeling discouraged after reading all of these posts.  I am only about a week and a half post op from having the ablation.  I can't stand this discharge I'm getting (haven't noticed the odor, but I'm hoping that doesn't start too).  The doctor says it only lasts for a few weeks.  Along w/the ablation, I had a tubal ligation, so I wasn't sure which surgery was causing the discharge.  I wanted to get off the pill, because I had constant yeast infections.  I haven't had any so far, but these posts have me worried for what might be coming.

I am also glad to read these posts! I am only 2 weeks post op but I have had much more pain after the procedure than I did before. I also have a pretty substantial discharge that has smelled extremely foul the last 2 days. I hope this doesn't last! I'm already starting to think I should have just had a hysterectomy.

I had the EA in March of 2012.  I finally decided to have it done after months of unbearable periods accompanied with blinding migraines.  I am bearly a month out and have had 2 horrible yeast infections.  Cream and diflucan have been used to treat it.  I with all the others on this forum are very frustrated.  I think I would rather have had the heavy bleeding instead of 2 yeast infections in one month.  I guess I willl have to see what next month brings.

I had the E/A procedure done 4 months ago. Other than the foul vaginal lodor, I have had no side effects. I haven't had a period, nor have I had any type of infections. I have asked my doctor about the odor and he suggested that I try taking probiotics and I have taken them for thirty days now with no success. I know that the E/A changes up your ph balance in your body, however I sure would like to know has anyone out there been succesful in eliminating the odor. It's embarsassing to me.

Ablation done in Nov. 2011. Had perfect flora and fauna and now have chronic yeast infections. No odor but burning, inflamed and super itchy. I normally do not get on blogs but I feel the need to protect others. They did biopsy on rash and that was no fun. They then made me feel like it was just me and told me that no other women have this issue. They gave me steroid cream and put me on diflucan. Diflucan stays in your system for like 500 hrs and is hard on the liver. Really tired of all of this and feeling as if my ob has let me down. I did not want to get the procedure despite my heavy periods but was told that they would biopsy everything to see why I have lost 20 lbs. After constant visits one of which my dr looked down there and said "Oh my God" , yes my infections are that bad to get such a comment but yet, they pretty much wrote me off. I have spent so much money that we don't have and for what? I would rather have heavy periods then fear of how this is impacting my marriage. Maybe someone can keep track of all of this and we can stand together against Nova Sure. None of this was written in pamphlet I received. The thing is is that Nova Sure is FDA approved and I would think that it would take an army to win. So frustrated and this is not fair to my family who at times suffers with me. Period is much lighter but I feel so unhealthy after the procedure. The thought that no one could even warn me about side effects is disturbing but they make a killing in 90 secs so there.

Wow…I am so glad I goggled this!  I really thought it was just me!

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I had my ablation done in March 2011.  I developed a severe UTI that turned into a severe kidney infection and by the beginning of June 2011 I ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

My periods are better and they were so heavy, I would probably do it again, but looking at the CONS I would really have to think about it.

Here are my PROS and CONS:

PROS:

Lighter or no period each month

CONS:

Worse cramps now then I have ever had in my life!

Recurring yeast infections

Recurring bacterial infections…wait I don’t even know if the infection is yeast or bacterial so I end up taking the Diflucan (fluconazole) and Metronidazole (Flagyl).

Terrible odorous discharge and itching – I am told the discharge is what replaces my period…really??

I do believe that all of the above is caused by the imbalance of the good vs. bad bacteria but I don’t understand why the medical community and Nova Sure refuse to acknowledge the issue.  I, too, got the speech from the ER doctor about hygiene, wiping correctly, showering after intercourse…etc.  I am in my 40’s and have not had any issues until this point in my life..so (again) really???

Maybe there should be a class action suit filed against Nova Sure so they will acknowledge and address the issues more clearly or come up with a solution.  Maybe a probiotic is the answer and I have not tried that option yet…but I will be heading to my pharmacy to get some because at this point I really don’t want a hysterectomy!

I will update my post if I have any positive results!
