I had mine done in 2010 and let me tell you after it I wasn't the same. On top of the smell discharge and the worst cramps ever I have weight gain, depression, tired all the time, started suffering of abdominal pain and burning when I urinate with no sigh of a UTI. I go to the doctor all the time with complaints of symptoms of UTI's and when they do test it always comes out negative. It's horrible sometimes to function I don't like to go into public to much cuz of the discomfort. I don't try over the counter solutions cuz although they do the trick temporarily I have always be sensitive to them and get infections. It really sucks. I wish now I didn't have it done.

I am having the same symptoms after an ablation almost a year ago. Wish I had never done it, and just dealt with the heavy bleeding and treated the anemia. My Doctor said the surgery was no big deal and that it would only take about 15 minutes.

Had the procedure done on 7/10, the first 4 months was nice no period at all, just the watery discharge with no odor. On my 8th month all hell broke lose, serve pain...cramping out of this world like never before. Then I start to bleed again, light but not heavy like before. Then the discharge became more apparent, the spotting happen few days after I finished my period. Now I have a smelly discharge that seep from me just about everyday. The odor smell like a strong urine ammonia fishy smell. I been to 3 different docs including the one that perform the procedure, they all say the same thing there is nothing they can do, but a hysterectomy. I refuse to get that done for now. I'm pain tolerant, so I have logged every month how my pain is. I take tramadol, muscle relaxers, few days before my period to help with the unbearable pain and don't do nothing during that time except go to work if I can. I take the pain over the awful smell. I have tried ridding the toxins from my body by detox and eating right. The discharge this month have been everyday. I have used so many panty liners, my doc have put me on a low dose of birth control that will cause me to have only 4 periods a month, so I have not completed a month yet. I hope this will help with the discharge and smell and my period. We keep everyone posted. Maybe they can find something to help all who are going through similar symptoms.

I had my procedure may of 2011 and I am also having the odor problem. I was taking antibiotics every 4-6 weeks because of bacterial infections. After researching natural cures, I started adding 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to my bath water every night. After about 1 week the odor is gone and I have not needed antibiotics in 2 months.

O.m.g. THANK YOU for posting this. I had NovaSure done in April of 2012 and e.v.e.r.y. d.a.y. I have to wear at least a pantyliner. There is constant discharge and it smells bad. Not like an infection smell, just *off.*  Thought I was alone. Now I know I'm not. Went to my follow up w/ doc and all was fine. My dh tells me he can't smell anything but I think I can smell it all the time. It's so gross and I feel self concious, like people at the grocery (or where ever I am) can smell it. So nasty.

I guess it could be worse ... some of the ladies are here are having horrendous issues. So I guess I'll take my stinky discharge and be glad it's not worse.

Thanks to all who have posted .. this site is a godsend.

Blessed be.

I had an ablasion in 2008 and wished I never did. I used to have lighter periods but with a foul smell. So bad that i had to mask it by using a tampon. my period became very unpredictable and now 4 years later I get a yeast infection every month when its time for my period. one month my period was black blood. Scary. I really wish I had opted for the hystorectomy, because the ablasion was definitely a mistake. It has ruined my sex life and my chances of everr having more children.

I am just reading everyones complaints iI too had the procedure done and now battle with yeast infections and BV. It seams as though since we stopped our bodies natural ability to flush our insides and balance the ph that this is the consequence. I also didnt read any warnings prior to the procedure but i also think that there should be something we could use to cleanse and balance our insides. Who wants to go to the gyno constantly for this problem. Also with BV a common tell tale sign is a fishy odor after sex. Thank God my husband is understanding but I feel like a scumbag.

Would you mind posting which brands you are using? I had my procedure in November 2006 and it is a constant battle.

I had the Novasure procedure in August 2012 and have been at the doctors office each and every month since with a Bacterial Infection. It has become a cyclical event. I still have a period though it is very light. After the period is over, the BF shows up. I take meds for a week which make me spot. The cycle repeats the next month. This month is so bad that  I am on 2 prescriptions. Similar to many of you, my sex life is all but gone. Between the infection, the smell, and the discomfort, I simply cannot perform and I feel dirty. Nothing has changed since my surgery meaning I am eating the same diet, same routine, same exercise, same soap, etc. I wish I would have stumbled upon this information prior to surgery. If you are reading this and contemplating the surgery, think twice. I would gladly trade and take my heavy period back each month. At least it only lasted 5 days. Thank god I have an understanding husband but I ask myself how long he can go on. I am 43 and miss contact with my husband!!
