I had this Novasure procedure done 3 weeks ago. Started feeling bad a week later and also notice terrible odor. Went back to my obgyn, she ran some tests and sure enough bacterial vaginosis. Just like I have been reading. Now I am so so upset because I too have never had any vaginal infections and now i'm so worried this is going to become an uphill battle. This should have been disclosed by Novasure as side effects because this is huge!!! I absolutly see a class action law suit. Im only 44 and not ready to have a hysterectomy to solve these problems. Now i'll prepare for the side effects to Flagyl I just started tonight and see what happens.

I recently had an ablation and have experienced no problems outside of a yeast infection. As I was reading the various comments about good vs bad bacteria, etc. I decided to do some general research. The ablation may not be the overriding cause. I assume that many of you are similar in age to myself 40+. As we age our bodies began to change in response to menopause. I have also had a tubal & had that over 10-years ago and can tell you that approximately a year after my tubal I started experiencing BV & yeast infections. I worked with a naturopathic doctor and learned that simply put the body was readjusting itself to the disruptions in the natural processes. In short, the ablation in and of itself is not the root cause but part of a variety of changes the body is going through. I also have friends that have had hysterectomies & still are plagued with yeast infections. A hysterectomy does NOT end the yeast infection drama.

OMG! I can't believe I am not the only one. Had mine done Nov 12, everything was great until last month. It's like a yeast infection period. I mean burning, itching and smell for a week for the last two months. My "Dr." won't give me any more meds, she told me to let my body adjust to the changes. In the meantime, I have to deal with the pain from front to back. Don't get me wrong, I love not having to dealing with a period anymore, but to be replaced with "this". Like the others stated, I feel so gross and don't even want to use the restroom in public. Anyway, I will keep you all posted. Gotta love being a woman!

I had my procedure done in 2007 and have had an odd odor, ecessive discharge and bacterial infections that come and go. The following month I had spotting (off and on for 2-3 days) and was like that for a few years. But now my periods are heavy with heavy cramping and heavy clotting. I also found that the procedure did not work properly as I now have to have a hysterectomy at 35 because their was still good tissue left and when the scarring started going over the good tissue it is causing pain and bacterial infections. Once I have the hystorectomy to confirm that this is the problem, I would be willing to help in a class action suit. My Doctor says this is a common problem as is many of the issues I have read about now. And usually the only real option to correct this is a hysterectomy.

I have pain and odor as well and found out that I have to have a hysterectomy to fix what was done. I am 35 yrs old. THis is due to some of the Uterine tissue not being scarred enough and so the uterine tissue in those areas are doing what they are supposed to but the scaring from the burnt tissue is covering the good tissue now causing it to not be able to shed properly.

Yes, This was my exact issue and I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on March 5th and was told it was the only option to the problems I am having. I got a second opinion and this was the general opinion of both.

well this is just wonderful, i started getting bv for the last 8 months and like all you ladies they try the creams then the pills yet nothing works, i did not realize that having the ablation causes bv as well so now im double doomed. ive read and also had a friend tell me to use a boric acid suppository, you can make your own but im not sure how much it needs to be diluted, tomorrow im gonna call and see if you can get them from a medical store premade, ugh so irritated

Do you know if there is a class action suit in the works for this. I too am going through the same problems as all these other women :(

i have had this issue for the past 18 months, eblation performed in 2006. I was told that the odor comes from the lining of the uterus not completely shedding. It can become a very serious issue if left untreated. Other symptoms may include abdominal pain, ovarian cramps vaginal discharge, may be smelly or discolored. In my case it was dark brown and quite nasty. Now have been plagued with heavy and prolonged bleeding again. Also be sure to get your estrogen and progesterone levels checked. Its called endometrial hyperplasia and can be treated with medications to triggers the shedding of the old uterine wall and prevents abdormal growth. Take care yourself and always trust your instincts , even when being told its nothing .

I have recently started having a bloody discharge with a foul order and it is horrible. I am in the healthcare field, plus just being an overall clean woman...this odor makes me feel uncomfortable and disgusting! I would have kept my periods if I knew that I would stink after getting rid of them. I am not happy at all with this particular side effect. I had my Novasure done in Dec of 2011. Now grant it ...it has just started and it oddly comes and goes. I had one last week which came on like it was a period...I had fatigue and cramping....and after a few days it went away. Now today not even a week later I am experiencing the same thing. This is NOT RIGHT!

MEDSo, I had my ablation on 4/26/13 and after a horrible recovery in the hospital I believed that I was on my way. I have had BV since I divorced my first husband in 1994. My second husband and my body's chemistry does not mesh. He has taken Flagyl with me over the last 18 years and it stills comes back. Anyway, after the horrible cramping a few weeks into the recovery process I got the "Stench." Discharge so smelly my bathroom reeks. I will not go back to the doctor until I finish my MetroGel course and then a 5 day Flagyl course. I was told at the ER that the dead tissue is the reason for the "stench" but after another week of funky nastiness and public embarrassment I started my regular BV routine. I had sex too soon after the procedure which caused the cramping that sent me to the ER. I can accept that but the "stench" was too much so I started using the "Instead" menstrual cups to capture the run off before I could smell it. I also started using tampons to catch the ''stench.'' Just tonight I decided to let it leak out and use the BV meds for five days to see what happens.
Your story is my story. I really understand. If this doesn't work in five days I will go in to see the doctor. The "stench" is NOT worth it.

I had the novasure ablation on 12/26/2008 after a tubal ligation 2/3/2007. I did not have heavy periods but my doctor said since they had to remove a polyp from my uterus they could do the ablation and I'd never have a period again. I thought that was awesome. I was 26 years old. The doctor told me there would be some light pain following the procedure that I could just take ibuprofen for. I was in for a huge surprise. I don't know if she messed up the procedure or if I just didn't take the pain very well but I was in horrible pain. I went back to the hospital the same night they did the procedure almost hysterical. They acted like I was being rediculous. I quit having periods at first and for about the first 2 years. What I started having was recurring bacterial vaginosis. The doctors would say everytime that it wasn't from the ablation but I had never had bv before the procedure. I then would get yeast infections from the antibiotics. I also started having severe cramping around my ovaries each month. The pain is so bad that I can't have sex sometimes. The bv occurs about 6-10 times a year but sometimes I get it 2 times a month and sometimes months go by without getting it. I don't have sex nearly as much as I use to because I seem to get it more often when I have sex more. I read an earlier comment about how the uterus can no longer shed it's lining and clean it's self out so all this bad stuff just collects in you. I TOTALLY AGREE. My mother is a nurse and we have talked about this a lot and we both agree that that's what it's from. I have gone back to the OB office that did the procedure and they don't think it has anything to do with the ablation and that some women are just more likely to get them than others even though I didn't get them before. I was told to take probiotics. I have it doesn't work. I was told to cut down on sugar. I did it doesn't work. I think between Novasure and our doctors someone should be held liable for damaging our bodies. Oh and now I have a light period, which is ok but it's mostly brown which means that it's old blood so that means that my uterus isn't getting rid of it quick enough. If that is happening then when I get bacteria or semen in there then it's not getting out quick enough. I am now in the process of trying to regrow my lining in hopes of reversing what they did. I don't want a hysterectomy but if I can't fix this I guess I will have to consider it. I also sent Novasure a message to let them know that what they are doing isn't helping everyone and that it's irresponsible to damage womens bodies without knowing the full consequences. If they had said you will have recurring infections and ovary pain I would never have had my tubes tied or the ablation.
