I have had the problem before as well. it comes and goes. I went to see the doctor and he told me that it might have to do with weight. I'm not slim myself. It made since at the time. If you have a pouch of fat above the shaft of your penis, the weight of the fat can restrict the blood flow you your penis and especially your scrotum and all of its components. The fat that forms looks kind of like a ring around your penis and scrotum. It’s really noticeable when you stand up. I hope that this helps some of you.

I had this occur the first time when I was 23 years old. My doctor diagnosed it as an Epiditymitus and prescribed Dioxycyclene (2 100mg doses a day for 10 days) and it completely cleared up. About 2 years ago I noticed that my left testicle was beginning to hang a bit lower and occassionally the vans deferens would be a little swollen, though without any achyness or pain. It would swell off and on over the past 2 years. Between sex and masturbation it would decrease, though the testicle has continued to hang lower.

About a month ago (I'm 34 now) the same symptoms of the Epiditymitus (Achyness in the left testicle and occassional achyness on the inside of the thigh, close to the groin). I contacted my doctor and was prescribed Dioxycyclene again. After completing the antibiotic the pain soreness was gone for about a week. About a week and a half ago, it has returned. I'm about to begin a second dose of the Dioxycyclene to hopefully clear it up.

I have appreciated the input on this forum thus far because it seems like it would be a huge waste to go spend a bunch of money on doctor visits, scans, sonograms, etc. I'm hopeful that this next round of antibiotics works. If not, I'm assuming that with the age and fact that my metabolism has slowed over the years that it might take one or perhaps a couple more rounds.

I'm pretty sure that it is Epiditymitus since, with all the same symptoms occuring as before, it was cleared up with the antibiotic. Just a little concerned about the "sagging" of the left testicle.

Forgot to ask. Does anyone know whether dioxycyclene is affected or inhibited by alcohol consumption? I have read that it is not one of the antibiotics affected by it, but knowing that some are I'm considering not drinking any alcohol whatsoever during the next round just to be safe.

Just a thought, since diet, water consumption and avoiding direct sunlight are some of the necessary means to insure that this antibiotic runs its course properly.

no its safe to drink and use doxy. i have used it in the past to prevent malaria infection overseas, and you can drink with no adverse effects. just take it with food and don't lie down for an hour afterward.

And I'm also joining the club. First of all i think I have chronic epidydimitis for about 4-5years. This is caused not always by bacteria (like chlamidia, ureoplasma etc.) but also often by trauma or cold. Don't know the exact cause, but I had this problem for about 5 times (once a yer) and now I had it again. It always started and ended in 3-5 days causing aches in left side and also swelling of epididymis. This time it was worse and I think I had a complication so the inflammation transferred to vas diferens. I went to see GP and he told that this is quite serious problem (actually scared a sh*t out of me) and it's called Funiculitis (inflammation of vas deferens). Strange that none of you mentioned it and it's not written very commonly in testicle disease sections. Funiculitis usually comes with or after epididymitis and/or prostatite. So don't confuse epididymitis (what is inflamation of epididymis - a thing sticked to testicle where spermatozoids are stored) and vas diferens (a muscular tube which transfers spermatosoids during ejaculation and starting from the end of epididymis ending at seminal vesicle). It might be I had epididymitis and funiculitis on the same time, I took a dose of antibiotics (including Doxicyclin), but I was taking it from other bacteria (helicobacter pylori, living in my stomach), but it is also effective against those diseases, but seems not enough. My epididymis is now normal size, but vas deferens is still swollen and painful.
Now I will do some urine tests next week, maybe ultrasound and I'm sure it won't show nothing like for most of you. I will try to visit other doctor it this one won't help me.
Btw, my mother is medic (not urologist)and she made some research about this funiculitis and she discovered few antibiotics that are most helpful according this problem (actaully please see page 4 of this topic, one guy offered exactly the same antibiotics). And I suggest NOT to try that method which also someone offered - squeezing your vas deferens, because if there's an infection, it can go right to your testicle or prastate and consequences may be even worse (infertility, sepsis etc.).
Anyway you shouldn't take any antibiotics without consulting with your doctor (I don't know the order with recipes in other countries, but in mine you can only buy serious drugs with recipes). And those who handn't visited a doctor should do that, because you may not know the exact problem and you can regret in the future for your negligence.
Sorry for possible spelling mistakes, my english isn't that good.
Good luck everyone and keeps your balls safe.

I have basically the same problem.

About a month and a half ago I started getting sweling and pain my left testicle, the doctor diagnosed it as being Orchitis and Epididymitis, He put me on Sulfatrim and Ciprofloxacin for two weeks, after the medication wore out I had absoloutley no improvement (mind you I was on a military base when it happened and was forced to continue running and whatnot despite my condition) I was sent to a hospital to have an ultrasound done.

Ultrasound found nothing, but the woman who performed the ultrasound told me I had something smilar to a UTI (urinary tract infection), which both the military doctor and my family doctor agreed was false.

My family doctor aso diagnosed me as having Orchitis & Epididymitis, so he gave me 2 weeks subscription to Ciprofloxacin, which seemed to clear up the Orchitis (although the swelling remained), but did nothing other than provide VERY temporary relief for the Epididymitis. The day after my subscription wore out I was in pain again.

So I went back, recieved another 2 week subscription, which wore out two days ago, and now my Epididymitis is back again, this time the pain is primarily on the right side. I've got a doctors appointment very soon, but I've got a feeling all they're going to do is give me more Ciprofloxacin.

Does anyone know if Antibiodics will actually cure the infection for good? Or am I going to be stuck like this for the rest of my life?

I work a desk job. I sit at a computer maybe 16 hours a day, although I do exercise a few times a week pretty vigorously.

I was having this looked at, got a few sonograms and they didn't find anything unusual. The urologist was going to put me on antibiotics on a followup appointment, but the pain went away completely after I took a one week vacation in the Carribean so I told him nevermind.

The pain came back after several months of being back at my desk.

Is this a coincidence or something more? I don't know.

HI.
According to my urologist, ibuprofen for pain/swelling, warm baths, and rest will help. Antibiotics will only help if there is an actual infection, which isn't always the case, but more times than not is part of the treatment. I'm 6 days in with some improvement when I actually do stay off my feet and take Ibuprofen. Good luck~

I have the same thing all you other guys have. Took the big nasty antibiotics for epiditimitis. Ejaculating is the ONLY thing that does give me any relief. Im 51 been going on about 10 years. Urologist says there is a proceedure to clean everything out. Dont even want to go there tho, at least not yet.

Has anyone considered that this could be a problem with sperm PH .. Consider the liquid or food Intake.. You may be taking in to much acid in soda or foods. I have this problem when I've consumed too much Red meat also when too much carbonation. I've played with my diet to see if that had affect an it has..
