Update to my post above (18 days ago) Got days when I thought it might finally be going, but no. Usually a day or two I wouldn't feel as bad, except this weak feeling -then it would come back, same thing but worse (nausea, shaking, a frightening restlessness, heart palpitations, headache over right eye, serious loss of appetite, hot flushes, wanting to burst into tears.) The days are worse. I can sleep okay and it's the only relief I get. Still have no fever.
I was taking Echinacea and garlic at first then gave it up because it wasn't doing any good, and that was unusual. So started it again 3 days ago when I got worse again. It's still not making much difference.
Chewing on a thin slice of Ginger definitely helps the nausea which comes on at random, then goes away. I'm also drinking 3 times a day, Meadowsweet, Peppermint and Camomile tea. That does help. It also seems rest -and I mean serious rest -helps. But who can do that?? Okay I can because I'm alone and retired, but most people can't do that for more than 3 days. I'm an active person and find it hard to stay indoors, but do feel a little better when I do.
Yes that only relieves the symptoms a little bit, but nothing seems to be touching the cause. I am normally so fit & well! This is so weird and scary. On week 5 now with it. Doc hasn't found anything wrong so far.
I have never in my life had a virus like this or as bad or long lasting as this seriously impacting regular life!

Hey Twiggy, how are you now? I'm in my 6th week and starting to wonder when it will ever go away. Just a fluey feeling at first with headache and nausea and a kind of internal shaky tremor. So weak and weary. 4th week -G.I. symptoms. They went thank God. Now back to the fluey weak weary, shaky, heart palpitations freezing cold feelings....
Get a day or two sometimes when it seems like it might be getting better but no, it comes back.
Blood tests, urine tests all OK doc says. Told him to check for every single thing imaginable. Took 9 days for the results!
Worried I've got a heart problem and it's not a virus at all, but he listened to my heart & couldn't hear anything wrong. Would you believe no palps that morning, AND that was a day I was starting to feel a little bit better (3rd week)!!

Nope not better yet at all. Hard to get new appt to see doc too. You have to go through reception and wait in queue at 8am yuck.

Did colloidal silver help you at all Twiggy? I took really strong Echinacea, garlic etc No difference.

I'm feeling you...I haven't had any stomach flu issues.. I've had swollen lymph nodes, a scratchy throat, a cough, conjestion, and a sore throat since Mid-march .I've been on 2 antibiotics, 2 steroid packs and am now doped up on allergy medicine...my vitamin d is super low.. so my dr is chalking it up to low immune system.. but I swear I can't kick this! All my other bloodwork, and white count is normal! What the heck is going on! I too am in California! My husband is fine.

Hi, update...my blood work came out fine. It showed that I had Mono in the past but not currently. I took Cipro that I had in my refrigerator and guess what, felt better within 24 hrs. Called my dentist since I had implant work 5 months ago. He didn’t think it was an infection from that but it definitely was! In the process and speaking with a infectious disease doctor, he said to take MonoLauren daily. I take it religiously every day. You can buy it on line or Natural Grocers. Fights viruses naturally. I don’t know if the collodial silver helped however I think it may have prevented the tooth infection from getting worse until the antibiotics kicked in. Hope this helps and you feel better soon.

Just wondering if you ever found out what caused you to be so ill? My 13 year old son is currently experiencing the same symptoms for over a month now. He has difficulty making it through a school day, but knows he cannot miss anymore school. Dr's can't pinpoint what it is. Been seen by 3 gastroenterologists, who can't seem to identify a cause. Bloodwork shows it's viral, but testing to ID exact virus has not been done. What did you do to relieve the symptoms, get well again?

Did the Cipro knock out that tooth infection? I hope so. I hope you are feeling a bit better now?
I am in UK and can't find mono lauren here. Docs just do the blood tests and say there's no sign of infection in my system or any other signs of illness. Everything else comes back clear. "It likely is a virus" they say, then all the yada yada about eat healthy, drink fluids, rest, wait for it to pass etc.
It's now the 7th week. I live alone and total rest isn't possible. I rest when I am able and a lot more than I ever did before this hit. Rest surely helps.
Think it's def. going away for a couple or more days, then BAM! it comes back again. Queasy and horribly shaky and so weak. Feel fluey generally but still no fever and never had one, and NEVER had sore throat, cough, runny nose, sinus stuff etc. Feel so cold too. Better during the weekend heat-wave. Just went out to drive to a store and had to come back. Was shaking all over & felt suddenly so nauseous with this low grungy ache round my right eye. That's not sinus. I had sinus trouble way back in my 20s and it always felt like my head would burst when I bent my head down. This is nothing like that.

I am wondering if this is some kind of enterovirus but maybe either a new strain, or perhaps one I have no immunity to.
I was always so fit and well.
It's like life is now divided into 2 parts. One: pre-March 27 2018. Two: after March 27 2018. I miss my old life.
I know I'm being a wuss because other people have much worse in life, and am sorry.

I feel your pain, I'm just coming up to my 6th week "anniversary".

Feel completely weird, but my doctor has tested just about everything blood wise and they are all perfectly fine.

I have had some throat trouble too though, dry mouth, and red tonsils for one, plus night sweats (really worrying).

I have a referal for an ENT and Neuro to come, so hopefully they come back fine too.

No improvements yet. Nanotechnology. What else can it be?

Yes, it surely makes me wonder about what this thing actually is. I've had flu before, even ones that lingered a bit with a bad cough etc for a couple of weeks or more, but this evil thing is something else.
On Tuesday next it will be my 9th week with it. I have improved but still get random bouts of nausea, sometimes back to back with an unusual hunger and craving for protein (weird how can a person feel nauseous AND hungry at almost the same time??) Eating or not eating doesn't make any difference so it's not blood sugar . The ache over my right eye has not gone. It's slight now but reminds me it's still there.
Still go bitterly cold for no reason. Stll feel really weak at times and still get this deep internal shakiness.
The smallest amount of alcohol brings back a grungy malaise feeling, and coffee -even a half cup of mild roast make weak, has me in shakes.
This bug whatever it is has us all running about getting tests all over the place, and the tests are all coming back "normal". Because no one can believe it's really flu. Including me.

I've been suffering with some bug for the past 7 weeks too.

It isn't the flu, because that test came back negative, it isn't mono/gf either and it certainly isn't strep.

My blood work also shows no abnormalities, but I still feel like poop! Almost convinced I've got the C word because I'm getting night sweats (minor ones) on most nights, feel weak, fatigued, even walking like I'm drunk at times too.

Hi guys and gals, I live in the UK. I had a flu like virus from 27.4.18 until 3.5.18 took some time off work, I'm asthmatic and it made my asthma really bad. I went back to work on 4.5.18 and on 9.5.18 I just felt, dizzy, nauseous, my glands under my chin and behind my ears were swollen and felt lumpy, I had a sore throat and a terrible headache. The head ache wouldn't go away completely with 2 paracetamol, and I hardly ever take 2 for pain. Today it's 20.5.18 and my glands are still swollen, I still have giddy or dizzy spells, my throat is more sore my nose running etc (although that could be allergies). So I can really identify with what every one is saying here. I have to go to work, I'm 60, but I can't retire until I'm 66. Tthe worse part is the fatigue and I'm starting to feel a bit depressed now. My practice nurse said it's a virus and all I can do is rest as much as possible and drink plenty of fluids.

Hi ElizaBee. I'm also in the UK and have been struggling with some kind of virus for a couple of months. Nausea, weakness, flu-ey feeling, mild diarrhoea, sore throat, headaches and a strange cough which only affects me at night (?).
Like everyone else on this thread, it keeps on tricking me into thinking its gone. I decide to start doing more exercise and then it comes back.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this thing. I had started having all kinds of crazy paranoid thoughts about why its happening to me! Truly awful. Hope you're improving.
James.

What the "heck" is this thing?

I've been ill for about 10 weeks now, it first started with what felt like flu.

* My appetite went and I had trouble some trouble swallowing.
* Then I had a fever of over 100*f / about 39* c
* Then I coughed up a bunch of brown crud from my lungs
* My lymph nodes all went tingly like they were fighting something (I can still feel nodes everywhere, none are hard)
* I had chronic dry mouth, couldn't talk without it turning into the Sahara
* General malaise, aka "meh" to start with, then massive fatigue later on which seems a little better now.
* Dry cough for 2 nights (no real cough any other time)
* Diarrhea for 2 days (then another bit later)
* Sweating at night, and once even during a nap!
* Chills (still getting these) seems to be more cold sensitivity, a light draft can give me mega goosebumps.
* Pain in upper middle back that felt like adrenals, kidney area pain, liver area pain, Joint pain!

It's like I've had all-over-itis or something. Horrible virus!

This thread is great, but the amount of people taking antibiotics to try and get rid of a viral infection is absolutely shocking!

Why did your Doctors prescribe them if it is viral? That makes no sense to me, you can't beat a virus with antibiotics. Or did they prescribe them to "try something"? That seems like a strange course of action too though.

If you don't test positive for Strep/Bacteria, then a doctor shouldn't really be handing out ABs willy nilly should they? Then they wonder why we have antibiotic resistant bacteria.

(Just venting, sorry!)
