I cant' believe no-one knows what this is, mine came on roughly 5 days after unprotected sex with a old friend who had been tested for std's recently, none the less I got checked and everything came back negative as well.

What I did notice is years before I had unprotected sex with someone and these symtoms appeared I got checked then too and NOTHING came up and then settled down with a regular partner and it went away and completely back to normal, within 2 weeks...  Cant believe I slept with someone different and this came on and no one bloody knows what it is...   I have had some liver problems though so I wonder if this could be effecting it in some way??

Wow, this post was started well over a year ago, and no answers. This just happened to me about 2 weeks ago. Stupid unprotected encounter with someone I didn't even want to be with and wasn't even attracted to. Biggest mistake I've made in a while, or possibly ever. Well, right after we finished, there was a slight tingle right on the inside of the urethral opening that was very mild, but noticeable. I think the slight redness right at the opening started either later the next day or the day after that, either way, it seemed to soon to be a standard STD. I did some research and nothing seemed to fit completely. I've had external yeast irritation before, it happens to most guys at one point or another, just looks like little red bumps and if rubbed excessively on pants or whatever can become even more irritated. These kinds of yeast infections can happen when openings or weak points on your skin come in contact with enough yeast at the right time to infect you. Since the sex I had was rough and lasted much longer than I would have cared it to, I figured the tissue right inside the urethra probably rubbed a bit and became irritated, which meant there were little microscopic cracks or cuts exposing the tissue underneath, which provided the perfect doorway for some kind of UTI or yeast. I'm going with yeast because this person was nasty... IT could also be some other less common STD, but so far, nothing tells me it's deadly, or has any other effects, besides discomfort. If any of you figure something out, please post it, I would like some kind of resolution, if possible. When I have more money, I'm going to see a urologist. Also...

USE A CONDOM!!! IF NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU, EVEN IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR LIFE IN ANY WAY, USE A CONDOM! Trust me, you'll wish you had if something happens and I can't even describe how shitty it feels to know you have some kind of issue, but have absolutely no idea how bad it truly is or what it is.

I have had these same symptoms for over a year, I've been tested for everything from my bladder to my kidneys, with horrible stinging, it comes and goes but when it does occur the pain is soo bad I'm on the ground in pain but I found out today that it is a cyst in my Urethra, the symptoms are sometimes like a bladder infection but whenever my urine would be cultured there would be no sign of infection, also I was tested for std's and they all came back negative so one day I decided to take a look for myself and I found a hard purple lump, this is a very common occurrence so definetly get a doctor to look for this, I am as soon as possible.

I have been battling this for over 20 years, I notice it mostly happens when I have been drinking and don't urinate directly after I have had oral sex or sex. I use to fret run with this run to the Dr  and sometimes accuse my partner and be put on antibiotics etc even when they came back negative every time.

The symptoms however usually resolve themselves with drinking copious amounts of water motrin for the next few days and masturbating more frequently(not a bad thing). Like the previous poster mentioned I believe it is the result from the prostate and it's inability to drain and dehydration or maybe an allergy. I have tested this over the years and it is spot on since I am married and monogamous and she is tested then  if i fail to urinate after intercourse or oral sex when drinking surprise! it's there though if I force myself to urinate right after sex I'm usually pretty good..   Like another poster mentioned I learned to live with it. Hope that helps.

Of course you should always check if you have an STD but if it is negative this may be the cause.

I have an answer for all of you. What you guys all probably have is called ureaplasma. You can have a dotor either check your urine specifically for this. It's labeled as an STD but isnt classified since it doesnt have same side effects. And guess what?..its curable!...high dose of antibiotics....ureaplasma hasnt had alot of research like most STDs but 70% of sexually active people have it

Sadly it is not ureaplasma. I'm having all the symptoms described in this thread. Started having them after unprotected oral sex. Did a lot of tests, including for ureaplasma. All came back negative. Went to many doctors - venereologists, urologists... They all say I'm fine, but I'm not. I can't believe that such a thing can not be detected and treated easily and successfully.
I'm on my 6th week with the symptoms and although they are not as bad as the first week, there is still something wrong there. One doctor even told me I am imagining things. I am not. Even though I am under heavy anxiety, the symptoms are real and there IS irritation in the urinary tract.
Please, If someone can relate to this and has been treated successfully, give advice to all of us on how to deal with this.

Apparently it's a NGU. Went to a different doctor today. He listened to my entire story and treatment and immidiately said that originally I had NGU and the treatment with so many antibiotics I got this fungal infection. He said I shouldn't have taken those antibiotics and after that time now the NGU is cleared because in more than 2 weeks I don't feel burning anymore. He gave me medications to treat the fungal and I'll be OK in a week.

I got this too. It started very little, but now it’sgetting more constant. It was from unprotected oral sex. And it’s a slight burning/tinglingsensation in the tip of the penis. Mine has just started, I was hoping it wasgoing to go away but it sounds like I’m not the only one. Something is goingaround, and it spreads from oral and most likely vaginal and anal as well. There is a definite trend. I’m going to go get tested for everything. If it allcomes back neg and I still have these feelings, I think it will be whatevereveryone here is talking about.

It's an NGU. If you had protected sex but not protected oral sex it's 99% an NGU. Your STD tests will come back negative since NGU isn't detected with tests. It's up to your doctor to diagnose it. I had the same thing, took long time to clear up but now I'm OK, so you too will be OK, don't worry. It's not something to be afraid of. But prepare yourselves to experience the symptoms for at least 2 months. I'm not sure how long will they presist if it's not treated. The problem is that most doctors will do nothing since they can not see on black and white the cause of the symptoms and they'll probably prescribe antibiotics or do nothing.

It may well be psychosomatic. Specifically caused by stress. Stress caused by worrying.

One pattern I've noticed is that people will have unprotected sex, then worry about it, then experience symptoms of pain.

I was in the same boat. For over a year I was super stressed worrying about what was wrong with me. When a doctor suggested it might be caused by stress and worry, it almost immediately went away.

It could well all be in your heads.
