i want to know how long will a pain pill take to kick in if i took a sub this morning and only been on it for two days

uh yeah.....after reading everbody's posts - dont you think how ridiculous it is to see people on here try and pass judgement on a topic that is so intensely personal and individual??? omg - be helpful! I dont know anyone that ever kicked the habit by being spit on! i have blown discs in my back...among other things.... and have always taken my medication responsibly... in august i lost my lil bro in a tragic accident and started abusing my medication. it got so bad i went to my doctor and asked him to take me off my scripts.... i refused any drug abuse treatment....bad idea! i went into withdrawls..... for the first time in my life.... not only did i just lose my best friend in life but i just moved my disable father in with me, along with my full time job, school schedule, and being a single parent of a 6yr old little guy.... i truly went thru hell.... people seem to fail to grasp that addiction is an illness that causes not only psyc pain but major physical pain!!! due to the nature of degree i am seeking, i resorted to buying suboxone off the streets after doing my research.... i started off with a high dose to ease my pain and slowly but surely have weened myself off completely....couple months later i too developed major tooth pain....next to childbirth....the worst kind of pain....i took percs to save my liver - i was mixing tylonel and ibu all day every day.....so i took the percs. guess what everybody?????? im ok:) my advise to you - dont listen to these cruel judgemental comments....stand up and take charge of your own health! find what works for you! if your in pain - take a pain killer for gods sake thats what theyre there for....and then when your pain is gone, take a sub and make the choice to keep your own ass on track!

ps - if your gonna mix....or are in a position to have to mix take the sub in the morning - but cut your normal dose in half, along with a couple tylenol....your pain will kick in around lunch time - pop two 5mg tylenol and one low dose naproxin....not ibu.....that will hold you over til right before dinner, then with food, take the damn percs......take more before bed with another low dose naproxin...... wake up the next morning and repeat.....

this way you are utilizing the medications to their full potential - not endangering your health - and not submitting to your addiction either.......dont be afraid, be empowered, be in charge~!!!

do only until you have healed from your existing pain..... as with all drugs, anything can be abused, and our bodies are only composed to handle so much....

You of all people should know how hard this addiction is then. Its not as simple as changing your group of friends. Will that help with tempation? Yes. But it is said that quitting opiates is like losing a best friend, they were there for how ever long to make u feel nice and they were around for a long time. So you shouldnt judge anyone, I give props to anyone who decides to take suboxone because that is the first step, you have admitted you have a problem. Whether or not they slip up they are still trying. I hate when people comment and say "y are u gonna take oxys wen ur on subs?" why are you even asking. The person is making a personal decision and is asking a question about whether it's safe or not they r not asking your personal opinion or asking to be judged.

That was a response for a previous post, not the person before mine.

I have heard someone say 4 hours for every mg of sub. but i have no clue really.  Suboxone has a half life of  36 hours and if you take suboxone for a week or more once you stop taking the subs you can still feel a little of it for a good 3 days.  Buprenorphine is similar to other opiods such as morphine, codeine and heroin however it producs a less euphoric high.  I took suboxone for one year.  8 mgs in the morning and 8 mgs at night.  It was a life saver because before that i was shooting 2 80 mgs oxy for about a year and going back and forth with 10 vicodins a day when i couldnt get oxy.  I immediatley felt better and after a week or so I felt the buzz pretty good. Thats what I would explain the feelnig you get from subs.  People say you dont get high from suboxone, and I would say i agree to some extent but you do get a pretty good buzz and obviously the more you take the bigger buzz you get.  Ihonestly never abused the suboxone though.  I didnt know much about it at that timei jus took it.  But to answer anyones questions I have experimented alot with the drug.  Frst of all I dont think anyone should ever be on suboxone longer than a year, not even longer than 2 months.  Although i did enjoy it i did begin to start bulding a tolerance with it and once i weened off of subs (without the help of a doctor) i got pretty bad withdrawls.  I have heard many others who have had the same problem. They were taking subs for a year or longer. I  had restless legs a lttle sweating, couldnt go to sleepand the fact that subs were no longwer running through my blood.  I weened off of them pretty good but i probally still should have had a good doctrs advice on the best way and how long i should have took to ween off.  Sadly after that I went back to drugs but evetually found a good program to go to. Also after a year from suboxone  got ahold of lortabs from a bad tooth infection and i waited atlest8 to 12 days  before I even began to feel those lortabs.

I go back and forth getting subs from the street now.  If you take about one suboxone you need to wait atleast 36 hours but at 24 hours you might feel a little buzz. Thats if your taking heroin or oxys, im not sure about hydros. (everyones system is different, for me i have a fairly quick metabolism) One time i took8mg suboxone close to 4 days and waited 3 days for the naloxone to get out of system then i took 8 green lorcets and felt it pretty good.  If you take subs for a good week(maybe seven 8 mgs all thorught those 5 days) to get the full effect its best to wait 72 hours, at 40 hours you wll feel a little bit but its best to wait 3 days.  Its also good if you clean your system out with maybe something like dulcolax so you can flush anythng that might be lingering around. Im sure not everyone wants to do that though. I have also heard people who have had really bad addiction to heroin and it wasnt safe for them to take suboxone until they started dry heaving. And also you dweffinatley want to make sure you dont keep taking more and more if your not feeling as much of a high as you wish u were.(this was all based on taking heroin after suboxone.)

I highly do not recommend takng benzos with suboxone! While i was taking my sub prescriptions I started getting xanax off the street and mixed that with my subs.  I loved the feelng and got addicted to that mixture for 5 months. When i couldnt get ahold of xanax i felt HORRIBLE.  IT was so not worth it.  I lost my connect and had to cold turkey. During that time i had social anxiety and just didnt want to face life or move from my bed.  It took me literally months to even feel like i could face reality and even longer to feel normal without t.  Everyones different and ive heard some people say they dont really get withdrawls from certain drugs but for me it changed my life..

Sum t all up suboxone is a life saver just dont abuse it and try to take the least amount you can but also be comfortable

i just wanted to say tht all of you are dumb saying that you cant take n opiate 1st. because if you take an opiate before taking a sub then youll feel absolutely fine. its for those who obviously dont wanna be clean but ive done it alll. say if you only do a 30 for the day and are still phening for something else, then if you do a sub after you just feeel content with it all and it lasts longer. i thought i may have had just a different reaction than some people, but it wasnt only me that did it, there were 3 other people and none of us got sick from it. it was actually better than doing 2 30s. and it would kinda be dumb to do it the other way around so that the c**p is blocked yano.. just wanted to let ya kno cuz neither way makes you sick i think its just something that the dr.s say to make you scared so you wont try it...

idk what u ppl r talking about i took a sub and then took 1/4 a bar (xanax) right after like twice and nothing happened to me, my friend was the one who told me to do it if i wanted to feel a lil screwed up im sure he wouldnt have told me to do that if it were deadly, hes a smart person i think that 87% thing is c**p, propaganda made up by uninformed people because i have never heard of that why would that kill you that doesnt even make sense. People do oxy and xanax together all the time and i would think that would be more likely to be fatal than mixing subs and bars, because of you passing out and your heart stopping from being slowed down to much but subs do not have that effect on you.

jus so you kno. im prescribed suboxone and xanax, and have taken them together before multiple times, and im still alive so its not too deadly!

also, ive taken oxy and then boxone, or boxone and then oxy and never once have i experienced withdrawl from it. i used to be a heroin addict, and then i got clean and ive been on 2 8mg suboxone daily for 3 yrs. i took  my morning dose this am, then at like 3 ate half and sniffed half of a 40mg oxy and i got WASTED! so all these ppl can talk like they KNO, but obviously they DONT.

Just to put in my 2 cents. The pills no matter if you snort them or swallow them ar gonna give you problems in the long run. The more you continue to do them then the more your going to want to do them. Suboxone is not much different from the oxy. You can quit the oxy without taking suboxones. I sh*t you not. A little will power and motivation is all you need. Think about a loved one who you really care about that does what they do without being a user. I have to say that I have been taking painkillers almost everyday for about ten years and I can quit if I want. Just like anyone else all you have to do is put a thought in your head that is going to completely motivate you to press on. I feel tired and achy all of the time. Get off of your lazy f#@*ing ass and work out. You will feel 99% better right away! I know that alot of people do it to get high and it ruins it for the people who do need the pills for pain. I am in pain every day of my life. I will tell u this, if I stretch out and exercise everyday, it makes me feel good and gives me energy. No more tired. No more pain. So don't be lazy and good luck to you all.

Everyone seems to be misinsformed about suboxone. Listen its not some miracle drug. I've been on and off subs for about 4 years. And to to the guy who said noone Should be on them for more than a year, his post ends just like all the posts about stopping Subs. Hes back getting opiates on the street. The notion that sub withdrawl isnt too bad comes from people who stop it for a few days then go back on other opiates. At three days, your not in sub withdrawl yet. First time I was prescribed it I felt great, got the thought I should wean off, seemed like it was gonna be real easy after a few days then I woke up on day five and it was absolutely brutal. It was thirteen days later that I finally managed to sleep a few hours. At that point I still feeling horrible withdrawl symptoms. Went right back to oc's. Eventually cash problems arose, as they always do, So  back to subs it was. Been on them about 3 years now. At this point I've decided I'll be on them for life. Long term opiod dependence causes permanant brain chemistry changes. In my opinion being on subs for life is no big deal. After beimg on them for so long I can tell you any slight buzz goes away after the first month or so. But it still gives me a boost of energy and helps my depression. It has been medically proven to be an antidepressant. It just hasnt been FDA approved for that use although some psychiatrists do prescibe it anyway. So again Subs do have horrible withdrawl symptoms when coming off but if you can live with the idea of lifelong use its a great option. Now I dont know about every state but in Mass its available in a hospital setting and covered by insurance. I pay absolutely zero for my appointments or my script. So check before you go to those sub clinics that charge crazy amounts of money.

Staying 100% clean of everything is a great idea. But in my experience just not a realistic one.

Guest wrote: I completely agreed with you. I dont understand some of you people who are telling anyone to use oxy with suboxone!!! I have been addicted to Roxy and Oxycontin and Oxycodone for almost 10 years and im only 23 years old. Up until I was introduced to suboxone I was taking anywhere from 2-4 sometimes 6 oxy 80's a day.  If I didnt have anything I would take whatever I could get 40-60-80mg i didnt care. If no one had oxy i looked for roxy, if no one had that i looked for percs.  It consumed my life.  Now I just started the suboxone so i dont want to seem self richeious and c**p, but its the truth. Suboxone changed everything for me. I read somewhere on here someone said that you dont have to take sub for months to get off, and thats true. I had only 4 suboxen. It really is all mental. You cant stop withdrawals and that was my biggest fear. Thats why I always failed in trying to get off because my pain was worse that it really was, i was littlery deathly ill while in withdraw. My bones and muscles all hurt and i could never get my legs to sleep.  But I was given suboxone and i didnt go through the withdrawls. And now I am off everything after not even a whole week, and I feel NORMAL. Now its all mental and thats the hardest part. But i think that now whenever i have that craving for oxy, ill just pop a suboxone until i am able to not give in! OXY WAS MY BEST FRIEND. IT WAS MY ESCAPE. But it cost me my marriage, friends, my family, I have 2 kids who thank god i never chose drugs over and i never will, but i didnt stop after having them so its just as bad. Now because of Oxy my fiance, the love of my life is in jail for home invasion so he could get money to support us and our kids because our habit drained us.  ITS NOT WORTH IT! I KNOw THE HIGH IS AMAZING BUT ITS SO NOT WORTH IT. THAT LITTLE PILL RUINS LIVES. Just know what your getting into before you pop it.

i was wondering what might happen if a person were to take about 2 mills of suboxin, and then a little bit later that same day were to take about 20 mills of oxycontin? i have heard it will make someone go into withdrawls really fast, but my friend says it wont bother you, but then again i also heard that if a person were to mix suboxone and xanax, or most any kind of nerve pill it has a 73% death rate. any one know if thats true? because my friend mixes them together often and he is still alive. i am
DON'T WORRY YOU CAN TAKE OXYS AFTER YOU TAKE A SUBOXONE AND U WONT GET SICK OR DIE U MAY NOT GET VERY HIGH. BUT IT DON'T WORK BOTH WAYS U CANT TAKE OXYS FIRST AND THEN TAKE A SUB THE SAME DAY, IT WILL MAKE U SICK BUT U CAN TAKE A SUB AND THEN A OXY...

tAKE SUB THEN TAKE OXY YOU'LL BE FINE, TAKE OXY THEN TAKE SUB YOU WONT BE FINE BELIEVE ME IVE DONE A LOT OF EXPERIMENTING I NO MY sh*t ABOUT DRUGS I WOULDN'T GIVE U FALSE INFORMATION AND I WOULDN'T TELL U THIS IF I WASN'T ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE.. YOU PROBABLY WONT GET HIGH FROM THE OXY BUT IT MIGHT TAKE THE PAIN AWAY BECAUSE SUBS BLOCK THE EUPHORIA EFFECT OF OTHER OPIATES BUT BELIEVE ME THE INFO I GAVE U IS COMPLETELY CORRECT I AM 100% POSITIVE. HOPE THIS HELPED U OUT BUT I GOTTA GO TO SLEEP BYE!!!!!!

if you take a suboxone then oxy, the oxy will NOT work and is completely USELESS.......
On the other hand if you use oxy then take suboxone the suboxone will start to work and you wont feel the oxy!!!!
And all this c**p about using suboxone with other opiates and it putting you into immediate withdrawals is BS!!!
I am also pissed about people coming on here to give all these scientific explanations!!(people aren't stupid we know you are just copying and pasting it so you can seem somewhat intelligent for once, but its not working.) no body wants to hear it, just give them real talk for their real life problems!!
And if you really have problems GO TO A DOCTOR!!!
Drugs are very serious and possibly dangerous.
Don't take advice from people who you have no idea who they are!!!
So basically don't believe everything you read, the only thing you should take from these sites is encouragement!!

I have to respond to this because I took suboxone too soon after taking oxy (I wasn't in full withdrawl) and IT PUT ME INTO THE MOST INTENSE QUICKEST WITHDRAWL I HAVE EVER BEEN IN. I'm sorry, but I will have to disagree with you on that one. I will agree; however, on the part about taking oxy after suboxone and it not doing anything. Depending on your oxy tolerance you won't feel it as much as if you just take straight oxy.
I have been an addict for 5 years, have withdrawn off methadone, vicodin and oxy. I am on suboxone now and am doing GREAT! No slip ups, nothing. However you have to WANT to quit the oxy's or it's senseless being on the suboxone program. If you want to get high, then you may as well stay on the oxy's. Why would anyone do suboxone with oxy's on a regular basis (other than have them on hand for when they don't have any oxy's and go into withdrawl)? That's the only thing they are good for. They take the withdrawl away; BUT YOU HAVE TO BE IN FULL WITHDRAWL FIRST OR THEY WILL PUT YOU IN INSTANT WITHDRAWL. It only lasts for about 30 minutes, but I'll tell you, it is worse than the initial onset of straight opiate withdrawl. I am speaking from experience. I guess it may depend on the person though and how much they had been taking of each.

I am on suboxone and have taken opiates off and on for a couple of years.....while i don't suggest doing it.....i have never had any side affects...other than not getting as "high" as I normally would have.

Yo0u have it backwards you can take the  oxy after the suboxone but it will not work at all the suboxone blocks the opiates receptors in your brain, you need to wait like 24 hours or so to actually get high off oxy again or it'll just be a waste of money..

However. If you were using oxys everyday and  did like 20 or 40 .. then 6 hours later wanted to take suboxone .. THAT would put you into withdrawl.. you must let yourself start withdralw first before taking suboxone..

Hope htishelps

Suboxone is an opioid antagonist (well the naloxone in it is anyways) so it does make you go through withdrawl really fast if you take the oxy first. If a person overdoses on heroin, for example, shoot them up with naloxone and they will be just fine. If you take to much naloxone though, you go through two weeks of withdrawl in about an hour or two and could die from dysentery. Now the buprenorphine part of suboxone is weird... it is an analgesic similar to morphine (an opiate agonist, at least partial). So how do the two work together? for some reason, the buprenorphine is sometimes (NOT ALWAYS) immune to the effects of opiate antagonists, allowing it to bind to the same receptors as oxys and other opiates, which gives you the "reward" and makes your brain think it is on an opiate like an oxy, yet at the same time, the naloxone "clears" the brain of the other opiates binding to the receptors. This effect calms the cravings for your drug while detoxifiying you. It is a very weird drug indeed.
