My running will be better, definitely. I think just the fact that by then I'll have 7 years of running under my belt will mean my cardio system will be in bettter shape. I also think I'll be faster. It's still quite an adventure. I'm not sure if I'll be spending more time biking by that time, so that may impact my running and I'd like to try other types of running, like trail racing. We'll just have to wait and see. Great topic!

It's a hard thing to judge for me. The way I see it, I've got a lot of potential, but I don't know how far that goes. I've never really trained as much as I'm starting to build up to. Unless I hit a very early plateau or get severely burned out (both unlikely, I hope), I see myself running 100+ mpw and concentrating on marathons. I'll probably have attempted one or two 50 milers, but most likely not a 100. Depending on where my running starts to plateau, I might go into triathalons. But I'll probably only do that if I see I'm not progressing with running. I really want to see how far I can take this before I start digging in with other things. I hope to be extremely competitive, at least on a local/regional level. I know the area here isn't very competitive, but where I move after college will be more so. As far as times... who knows. I think a 2:40 marathon is realistic. Maybe a 16:30 5k and 34-35 minute 10k? I'd hope to at least win a race a year, starting next year. As far as goals, I hope to have made much more progress. I'm one to always set lofty goals. Hey, maybe I'm just dreaming though. I'll let you know in 5 years... maybe sooner.

I'll still be at it. I want to become at least a respectable runner so far as placing in a certain range for races. I've said it many times, and will here again: This year I've won two AG awards, and run two marathons. I knew I could do the latter (with some help - and you all know who you are), I truly thought I would never win an AG. Ever. So those mean more to me than the 'thon accomplishments.

I'm hoping to just be in great shape. I've been a runner since March so for my running goals I'd like to be training for a marathon in a few years. Maybe already have a 1/2 under my belt by then.

In 5 years I'll be 41. Hopefully doing the same thing if my knees hold out. But would like to add more hiking into the routine.

Great Question, love reading what everybody has written. Here is my two cents:
(1) Established running 5K's in the 17" to 18" range
(2) Will have ran a 10K under 40"
(3) Working on a Half-Mary Goal? --maybe stay under 10K.
(4) Marathon?? (Will I be nuts enough?)

(a) mpw 40-60 during summer

My oldest will be 9 yrs., maybe he can get his feet wet.

It's not about the goals that you are going to achieved but more importantly the running can play a vita role in the improvment of your stemina which the best sign of being a runner since 5 years ...
