First I would like to say no matter how odd this sounds keep reading, it will only take a few minutes.
I have this issue when I eat a lot of wheat or rice or potatoes. (I have had this issue since I was about 13 but never new why til recently)
I never would have discovered this was the issue until I started breaking out in hives or my face would sometimes swell etc...
so the point is that I found out I had all these allergies that are "slight allergies" which means I may have a slight reaction when I eat these things. sometimes so slight that I don't even notice the reaction.
I went to an allergist and did "the poke test" which is where they put this stuff into or on a needle and insert it into your skin to see how your skin reacts. He explained to me that normally he would just tell his patient to stay away from the food that is considered an allergen, but in my case I was allergic to so many things (wheat, rice, corn, potatoes, chicken, beef, fish, shellfish, eggs, nuts and tree nuts) that I would need to do some "trail and error" testing. which is where I eat would eat only what I'm not allergic to for 5-10 days to clear my diet. Then I would add only one of these things back into my diet for 10 days and write down every "reaction" (that means any difference in my emotions, my thinking abilities, my physical appearance etc...) I had from it. Thus discharge. The more of these things I eat the more discharge I have.
Just to reiterate, I have continued to eat these things and it has been a little over a year since I was diagnosed with these allergies, and it continually gives me the same reaction so its not just a fluke.

im 15 years old and a virgin and ive had this white/clear discharge for about a year or so now. I didn't know what was wrong. but i always feel wet. its good to know im not alone on this one. i haven't seen any doctors about it yet. i haven't been too stressed lately, but my midterms and finals are coming up so im starting to be. i was hoping it was just a phase and would only last a short time then go away. but after reading some of your posts about having for many many years im not so hopeful anymore. It has no smell, itching or irritaion but i just feel so gross sometimes!
I am 16.. and when i turn 14 i notice that my discharge was heavy and whiter then usual. but there was no ichyness or burning, just the discharge being different. i thought i had a yeast infection..but i've read the syptums and they were not what i had.. i'm really scared and uncomfortable at times.... I have the same thing. My boyfriend is pretty smart and knows a lot about anatomy, science, gynocology issues and tried telling me that when a girl has white discharge it's because of an infection or bacteria. However, after doing research and looking at this I think that it is completely normal UNLESS its really thick and/or has a bad smell to it. I rarely ever have a day where my underwear isn't soaked almost....sometimes it comes in handy sexually but most days it's just annoying. My doctor also informed me that wearing tight jeans can be bad for your vagina because of the material and it being close to the vagina without letting heat escape. I've also realized that if my underwear is wet, it makes the problem worse because whatever material and dye are in my jeans can pretty much get right into my vagina because my underwear is wet :-( Sometimes I notice a smell if I wear jeans for awhile and I don't so much with other pants so maybe that can help some people. Changing underwear and pants seems like a good idea as well because there is less chance for bacteria to grow. Regular showers (thoroughly drying the vagina area after as well), and changing clothes after exercising or swimming also is a good idea. DO NOT DOUCHE!!! It messes up the balance of bacteria in the vagina. Another thing many people don't realize is that BIRTH CONTROL CAN MAKE DISCHARGE WORSE!! I take Yasmin and it says right in the information that it can cause an increase in discharge and I'm 99% sure this is why I have so much discharge. Sometimes it dries people up but sometimes it makes people have more discharge...really just depends. Birth control can ALSO lead to an increase in yeast infections as well. There has been a few times where it felt itchy down there and I took over the counter medication that cleared it up but it would come back. I think I will have these problems as long as I'm on birth control but with most things, you have to weigh the positives with negatives. If you're worried, by all means ask your doctor about stds, bacteria, yeast infections, etc. but most of the time it isn't anything serious unless there are other issues going along with it. Furthermore, if you are sexually active, bacteria from the guy gets in the vagina and your body has to also fight off that bacteria just like the guy has to fight off ours....I sometimes notice that issues are worse after intercourse.
douching is a bad idea....it gets rid of both the bad and good microorganisms that live in your vagina. which can cause yeast infections and is not very effective as a form of birth control either. may try taking a probiotic which can help put more of the good microorganisms in to your body and you may see a decrease in yeast infections. 8)
I have had the same thing as all you guys since i was 17 and i am now 25. I first got this when I lost my virginity, its just a process that your body goes through. I still get it every day.... less in the week after my period.
My mum is a gyno and she has tested me over and over (all negative) and she says that every woman is different some women have no discharge others can secrete up to 1/4 cup per day (gross).
Dont douche too often it just makes it worse and you have risk of an infection, save the douching for when you are planning foreplay or sex.
If it is greenish, itchy or smells you need to go to a doctor.
If it is creamy and anywhere from clear to a whitish yellow colour its normal.
I wear comfortable liners everyday and change at lunchtime... it has just become a regular part of my life now and unfortunately you just have to live with it!
A good tip in summer... dont wear your swimmers all day... Discharge holds a certain amount of bacteria and you are more prone to getting thrush which thrives in nylon swimmers!

i have had a discharge for as long as i can remeber prolly about 6-7 years now, i manage with equate brand panty liners changed often! i have been to 2 diff gynos since the end of octo. my first one keep treating me with yeast infection, then a week after treatment symptoms came back and went back to see him and he gave me more medication, he said it was yeast and didnt see any bacterial vaginosis but gave me a one time dose of 4 500 mg metronidazole...and symptoms came back about 10 days later, my sister told me to see another gyno and i did...i had bacterial vaginosis(BV), which she said was common this time of year and is not sexually transmitted as ive been with the same guy for 7 years....i had a 10 day 2 times a day dose of Metronidazole and Doxycycl... She also told me some good tips so girls take notes. 1 Dove soap is the best for our lady parts, i got dove sensitive for me, 2 dont wear the always brand with the mesh/net liner, 3 sleep not wearing anything to allow some fresh air(something i havent been able to do yet) i went back to see her the end of December and she informed me that the BV had got worse, which i dont understand i thought that at least it would have got better but not worse!! she prescribed the same medications again told me to take 2 a day for 10 day and then 1 a day for 20 days, also gave me Metronidazole cream to use every 2-3 days a night! I started this Jan 1st and to me its not getting ANY BETTER :$ !! I have extreme itching on the outside(like all the other time, yet she said there was no yeast), the outside is so irritated the skin is broke from me itching in my sleep...I AM SO TIRED OF GOING THROUGH THIS!!! I dont know what else there is to do, i have read that if this goes untreated it can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder...any thoughts would help :-D
I'm 29. My discharge is white & clumpy, but NO smell. I've been tested for all std's, negative. Its NOT a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. I believe that it does have alot to do with stress, birth control pills & your diet. mine comes and goes. I recently started taking ortho tricyclen again, and its been worse. It can be very embarassing during sexy! But, most of the time, my partner just thinks I'm wet for him...
I am only thirteen and have been having this since my period last year. I have white/yellow discharge ALL THE TIME! I have never fingered, but have been sexually involved. I dont know what it is, but not an STD. I just am worried its a yeast infection or something. I am not stressed when i get it and when i am it doesnt change. When i sweat, sometimes i sweat down there too which is not normal. I just dont know what to do?!?! HELP!
Okay, so I'm 17 and I've ben experiencing this vaginal discharge since February when i was 16. I'm so confused about what I have, because a couple of days before i was sexually active, I've had this foul smell like discharge. :$ It wasn't of any color, just clear, but it smelled really bad. I wore tampons.. This has been going on for a year and then still when I get my period or am sexually active. I don't know im confused of what it might be. I was already tested for HIV and i came out negative, but i was tested positive for Mono. Can this have anything to do with it? Please help!
To the girl who posted originally:
I have also been having this white discharge, like a lot of it, (not to be gross or anything) but when I go to the bathroom there is so much it drips into the toilet. Thats how much there is. And yeah, like you its been freaking me out because I've had a yeast infection before and this is nothing like that. With a yeast infection it is so painful and itchy and gross. And with this there is no pain, irritation, or itchiness. Just all of this white discharge. AND I also just got off yaz birth control about a month ago because I had been hearing all of these terrible things about its health risks, even though it had helped regulate my periods which is what I wanted. Anyways, I think I am supposed to be on my period right now but since Wednesday (its now Saturday) I have noticed this extreme amount of white (lotion like, I guess) discharge. And I have been having excruciating cramps like I used to get before I started yaz, but no blood, at all, just this white discharge. I am however sexually active, but I know its not an STD because I have been with my boyfriend for a year and we've been tested for STD's and we don't have any. We also use protection so I don't think I'm pregnant. I haven't take any tests yet because I think it would be too early to tell.
Anyways I'm ranting, but I have been searching everywhere to try and find if its connected with stopping birth control or whatever but I can't seem to find anything and I am somewhat nervous. I just want an answer.
I was glad to find someone else who had mentioned they had just quit taking yaz as well. Anyways I hope you find an answer, and I hope I find one too..
You're not alone =]
