I'm honestly relieved to know I'm not the only one who is experiencing this problem. Every time I ever spoke to a relative or someone close to be about it they would just stare at me funny and say things like, "You're lucky to not have to deal with it!" But am I really lucky? I will be 22 next month and my last menstrual cycle was in 2010. At that time I only shortly was getting a period that was once every couple months if I was lucky. I was reassured multiple times that it was normal and nothing to worry about. At 18 I was diagnosed with amenorrhea and was given 1500mg of glucophage (metformin) to assist in balancing my hormones. Those medicines did not work after 2 1/2 years of taking it. It was a disappointing experience so I quit trying and focused on eating healthy and trying to remain fit. The past couple weeks, however, I have been dealing with bloating sensations in my pelvic region that aren't painful, but just unpleasant and it has me petrified. There is not much of a huge history of reproductive cancers, but I have severe anxiety and my brain keeps thinking it might be something like that. The hospital had performed a urinalysis, blood work, and a CT scan. Nothing showed up in any of my results as to why I'm getting this sensation. I will be going to a gyno here in a few weeks to finally find out.

I'm 32 and in a similar boat. I recently did a DNA ancestry test and oddly enough it said I had XY chromosomes. Outwardly I look female just prepubescent. Internally I never developed the hardware. It explains the symptoms. Its called Swyers disease or AIS. Not a ton of info on it but it could be something to look into. Especially if they say some things are underdeveloped.

You must get your FSH and LSH hormone levels tested. I believe these are the hormones that control ovulation and the pituitary gland is the master gland that causes those hormones to produce and make the ovaries work properly.
Birth control pills will give you a period but will not help you to ovulate.
For over 40 years I have been searching for the answer and no one seems to care because it's so rare. I have not heard of any cures for the ovaries to work as of yet.

Your experience mimics mine. I did adopt kids (2 and 3 year old) I loved being the only mother and it was great until they found their biological mother. They went back and forth during their teen years and now we are estranged after all of those years. I feel that I died twice. Once from this medical condition and once from losing my children.

I feel seen, this is exactly how I feel. I'm 19 and never had my period. I have a strong feeling I have PCOS, I guess I'll find out tomorrow, I have an appointment with a specialist.
