allergic to most antibiotics

I am in a similar situation.... I have found that diet change has helped, to avoid infections altogether. staying super-healthy is key! cut out sugar and dairy, find out what's bothering you food-wise and avoid it. I get fewer infections now that I don't eat sugar .... too much sugar leads to candida, which leads to more frequent infections in your body, and so on. otherwise get tested for allergies to medications, both medically and holistically. And try some Holistic Allergy treatments, like Bioenergetic Intolerance Elimination. I have gotten these treatments, and it has helped me. (NAET is also useful)

hi, im also allergic to antibiotics, Go to the health food store and buy wild oregano oil, take 2 to 3 drops in orange juice daily, It wil cure your sinus infection, the oil is a natural antibiotic. Also buy the book the cure is in the cupboard by Dr. Cass Ingram, it will help you immensley. Good Luck Lilly

November 2012 - My 7 year old is showing signs of ALLERGY to all Antibiotics, luckily she doesn't get sick often, but the very few times where she did get sick, we found out that she was allergic to all Penicillin out there, then her list grew as she had to be treated for some UTI infections, I came to this site by accident in search for some answers. I never knew that people can be allergic to almost everything, I was starting to feel alone in this as a Mom. I have some help in the alternative side by a doctor 2 hours away that my parents visit.  It is the only thing or way rather that I have been going with, thankfully it has gotten her out of some trouble where she was able to get over some really bad colds, throat infections etc without even seeing the doctor.  My problem right now is an aggressive UTI and I had to see her doctor he knows her situation and reluctantly put her on Nitrofuran - she complained after the 2nd dosage for the day of headache, stomach ache and right arm pain./ I am sooo frustrated. / Going to call the doctor in the morning.  I want her to get tested for Antibiotics, what do you suggest?  What do I ask for?  I am sure her doctor wouldn't mind helping me to get her to the right facility for it. Any Advise, my daughter is only 7.  Thanks!

What about taking a steroid such a prednisone with the antibiotic? The steroid shuts down the immune system so anaphlactic shock can't happen.

I am a homeopath and have also experienced recently some allergy to antibiotics. i developed severe headaches about a week after a course of antibiotics. I also leaned that the titanium implants i had may have made me more allergic. I had titanium in my face from a car accident that I just had removed. but back to the side effects, and allergy, what I did was I took nux -vomica (about a 9c), you can get that at any health food store. and it knocked out most of the side-effects I was having. I took it once a day for three days only then stopped (its not a good idea to take too many homeopathic doses). anyway, my headache got better. I am also looking into a homeopathic remedy made out of penicillin that will (because it is diluted into a form where there are only tiny amounts of the original substance, or only its vibration) in effect, if taken only once, possibly knock out the residual effects of allergy or side effects I may have experienced in the past. google. hahnemann labs in san rafael , ca and give them a call if you are interested. they can tell you about homepaths in your area and let you know about their penicillin homeopathic remedies. take care

Gosh I didn't realise there was anyone else with as many allergies as me. Sadly it's a huge range of things aside from antibiotics..... here's just a few:- Anti tetenus, Iodine, Latex, Gluten - even in topical products, Anti inflamatories & all topical creams, Nickle, Shellfish, several local aneasthetics & even worse last year the medical team had trouble 'stabelising' me having given me adrenalin for a anaphylactic shock! If this gets worse there really is nothing else! Currently I have a tooth abcess, the dentist couldn't get me numb enough for a tooth extraction & am waiting on advice from a microbiologist to find me something to just 'calm' the infection so the dentist can remove my tooth!!! If anyone reading this has any ideas I really would be grateful.:-D

I am also allergic to most antibiotics. I have been to an Infectious Disease specialist (Baylor Medical Center/Dallas) and he said that if I ever have a life threatening condition, they can get my body to accept antibiotics for a temporary period(maybe 3 mths.) long enough to heal from the condition. It involves going to a clinic under careful observation with doctors standing by to revive me if my throat starts to swell. This would not be something to undertake lightly and the need for antibiotics would have to be a "last resort". I also have visited with an Allergist Specialist(out of Lewisville, Tx.) who confirmed the advice Baylor gave and told me she had done research on people allergic to antibiotics. I try to stay well and clean. So far, I have been illness free for around 5-6+ years by eating wisely and taking supplements to support my immune system.

I hope by now you have found some help . I dont realy know what to tell you except that I will pray for you..I too am allergic to all antibiotics but e-mycin and it makes me have dirreah. I am 72 years old and My allergies started at age 18 with penecllin...very mild t he first time Doc thought I had German Measels..Next time at about age 21 Had hives and they said never take pen. again. Then came Iodine during a kidney test. then shellfish. By age 40, Tylenol and hydricodone elevated liver enzymes.Blood pressure started to rise ..Beta blockers, arbs ace's...Spent 4 days in Hospital after 10 days Tetracycline. The next thing was clonadine ....Severe nosebleeding ....Finally my Dr of 18 years believes it is not in my head ...says hes only had one other patient in his 30 year practice with as many allergies. two years ago spine problems became un treatable Tried all the pain stuff Ihadnt had before Ultram amost made go crazy Dr. finally put me on lexapro and valium....you guessed it ! bad reaction to lexipro pain unbearable 3 nerve blocks... didnt work I am now on cymbalta which has helped the nerve pain considerably but side effect prevent me from takeing the amount I need to help enough for me to do the things I had always did. I have a phobia now of mdication. I too cried all the time and went into a deep depression . The cymbalta has helped with that but again , the side effects on a greater dosage are overwhelming ..still have to take valium someteimes....especially if I have a Dr. appointment with someone new... I recently read that an immuneologist might be able to help. I am so weary I havent tried to find one .....I meant what I said in the begenning ..Iwill pray for you .....that is the only way Ihave been able to endure the last two years......God is faithful when he says he will never give us more than we can bare. Sometimes we are able to help others with the same help that He gives to us. Even when no Dr. understans or cares....God still cares. JAN.2013 - Hi there! Never knew about that, I will have to discuss with my daughters doctor, but something did happen, she came down with the AWFUL FLU! Had all of the symptoms, FEVER, SORE THROAT, BODY ACHE, CHILLS, BONE PAIN, I panicked. Her alternative DOCTOR in PA suggested I do several things. I got the flu as well and KNOCKED it out in 4 days! I took the COLLIDOL SILVER 4x a day, small or less than a teaspoonful, I drank TEA HONEY LEMON 2 to 3x a day, had soups and took an over the counter FLU and COLD Medicine, took ADVILS for the moments that I had Body Ache, I am good as new! I can only SHARE what WE DID in this CRISIS!

Hello, thank you so much for your kind words. I've been back to the dentist today & there is no sign of infection & no indication that the tooth even needs to come out!!!! The previous post suggested I google EARTH CLINIC & followed advice on oil of wild oregano...... I've taken the pills, made brews from fresh leaves & eaten the leaves since Sat.... Had plenty of quiet time & meditation ....Now not even in pain, no swelling etc. Hopefully others will read this & visit the above website & find it useful. My allergy's started when I had a serious allergic reaction to iodine contrast. It was so serious, that I was only able to eat four different food items for the first 3-4 months. I then was referred to Logan Wellsness in Indianapolis and started on amino acid therapy developed in Europe. The shots have helped to get me back on a less stressfull life, but still have some difficult allergies.Currently the only antibiotic I can tolerate is Omnicef from manufacturer SANDOZ. All other manufacturers cause severe stomach upset.

I have found tremendous inflammation/[ain relief from Anatabloc. I am unable to take to take Nasids because they tear up my stomach and I am very allergic to any other pain medication I have tried. Anatabloc is a brand new neutrceutical on the market and very useful since it blocks NF-kB from entering the cell neucleus and has no side effects for me. However, I only take the unflavored version because I am allergic to any flavoring and have heard others say they can only take the unflavored version.
