allergic to most antibiotics

Hi. I have allergies to most antibiotics. I had a horrible case of mononucleosis in my early twenties. Afterwards I was fine until the following winter I got sinusitis so bad. I was put on every antibiotic. At the time I could take all of them. I continued with chronic debilitating headaches after that. I became chemically sensitive. It was bad. One by one I became allergic. I'm now 53 years old. I used to be scared of dying from infection, but I've survived for 27 years. I can still take zpack, doxycycline. I could take one dose of cipro if I needed it. I had a hysterectomy in 2012. Surgeon gave me 5th or later generation antibiotic before surgery. I came through it no issues. So I guess I wanted to reassure you that you might or might not die of infection. Try to let it go. You will torture yourself. Hang in there.

I wanted to reply to this even though it's an old post. I too am allergic to all but one antibiotic. It was 2 before i just got this rash on day 1 from keflex for strep this week. I'm in a panic about what happens when the last one becomes a problem. I also have ehlers danlos which makes me wonder if it's related to the allergy thing in some way. I am allergic to opiates and had to go without pain killers on a balloon sinuplasty. I don't recommend that to anyone. I am fully organic and don't use toxic chemicals in my home. I use natural ways to fight off most things, but sometimes it just doesn't work and I wonder what will happen.

Thank you for the oregano oil suggestion. I'm going to try it today. Going on day 7 of UTI, with no help in sight until now.

Omg this has happened to me after my complete hysterectomy in 2013! The only antibiotic I can take now is the zpak, and I've also become very allergic to previous antidepressants I was able to take! I was told it's because the entire dynamic of my body has changed from the hysterectomy. I almost wish I didn't have it done now =( Very frustrating trying to find an antidepressant that will work for me... not to mention if I need antibiotics

Do you have ebv, I do, and I'm starting to think it may be why I can't take antibiotics either. I started with a severe chest cold, followed by walking phneomonia, then went to my head and now have a serious sinus infection. Can't hear for 3 weeks now, last antibiotic was bactrim and after day1 started having chills, at day 4 numbness in my mouth and lips, racing heart and shortness of breath. I'm so sorry for your pain, I will pray for you. Please try herbs and teas, chamomile and lemon grass etc. Garlic. Try everything that will work, including Prayer. Have you been tested for ebv? I have this and believe it's why I'm unable to take antibiotics. I'm suffering from an inner ear infection, can't hear now for 3 weeks after a serious chest cold. Bactrim was the last straw, I'm going to do this with herbal remedies. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience and will pray for you. Please try garlic, teas, oragano etc blessings

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. I too can't take antibiotics. I have a serious sinus infection and inner ear infection, can't hear now for 3 weeks after a serious chest cold. I'm going herbal, can't take it anymore. I am a zombie everyday, can't work, sleep or enjoy life anymore. Have you been tested for ebv. I have it, could be reason for allergic reaction to antibiotics, I'm thinking that's what is going on with so many people. I'll pray for you. Blessings

Yes, I am drinking chamomile tea now, but will get the Manzanilla you spoke of. Hope it's not manzanita, I'm allergic to it. I'll be praying for you, Bless ya

Have you been tested for ebv. I have it, and I believe that this is why many of us are resistant to antibiotics. Have been through it, and suffering from a severe sinus infection and inner ear infection can't hear now for 3 weeks after a serious chest cold for 2 months. I'm going herbal can't take much more of this. Chamomile tea, lemon grass and honey, also apple cider vinegar remedy is my next try. Praying for you, blessings

i have the same problem as you, we have found that I am unable to take flouride and most medications have a flouride base. Were you able to find out anything from the testing? Its very scary for those of us who cannot take medications, especially antibiotics.

Just found this site and posts. I cannot take antibiotics, medications or alot of herbal supplements. I am reading that you were seeing the allergy department at the clinic...were you able to get any answers?

Have been reading this thread and wanted to tell about a UTI remedy that has worked for my sister and myself without antibiotics. My sister had cancer and got a bad UTI and could not take antibiotics. Her PA told her to buy some organic lemons, and squeeze the juice from one lemon into 8 oz. of water, and add a tsp of baking soda. It lessons the pain immediatley and after the second or third time all pain is gone, by the third day infection is gone. If you have kidney issues you should use this because of the baking soda, but otherwise ask you doctor if it is safe and try it for your UTI. I also am allergic to several antibiotics and others I just have an intolerable reaction to so I use natural antibiotics. Oil of Oregano is my chief one. Grapefruit seed extract is another. Garlic works well for some things. I make my own colloidal silver as well and have been using it with much success since about 2000, usually combines with oil of oregano. I'm not a doctor, not saying any of these are a remedy for everyone, and can't give advice. Just sharing what has worked for me. Please do your own research and find a natural practitioner that is knowledgeable.

Were you able to find answers? I have problems with all meds, including antibiotics and they had to take me off my thyroid meds over 3 years ago too. They did find 3 years ago that I can't have flouride and I drink distilled water only. Thanks for any help

I have just recently found out I'm allergic to all antibiotics. Many people do not believe me and say I am just having panic attacks but I have been prescribed an epi pen that I've had to use already. I also have been diagnosed with ehlers danlos syndrome. I have been trying to get an appointment to be sure these are true allergies but it has been a struggle.
