I love chicken but for the past few years after eating it, next day or that night I awake to a feeling of extreame depression and muscle pain. I am also feeling like I have the flu, with stomach pain, nausea, and fatigue. I figure it's the antibotics they give the birds. Sometimes I;ve eaten "No hormones, or antibiotic brands" and hadn't noticed any problems. It's been difficult to cut it out of my diet 100%. But I end up suffering afterwards if I'm not careful what I'm buying, even Kosher Chicken is making me sick. I am going to try and stop eating it altogether now for sure after reading all these comments. Eggs, Red meat, veal or Turkey does not seem to give me this problem. Good luck everyone!

Yes, I just found out that I am allergic to chicken, They want me to stop eating for six months and get re-tested to see if it is still an issue. I eat lots of chicken they say eat chicken instead of beef so I did and now I can not have it. They were testing me for 5 years to see what my rashes were, I hope this works, It would be nice to find out where these rashes and allergy and other symptoms where coming from. I have tried every cream and every medications.

Yes, that was my reaction. Flu like symptoms, feverish, itchy red skin all over my stomach and back. Had chicken for lunch and it was all I had. I am now officially allergic. That is the same reaction I had to penicillin and cottage cheese. Be careful.

My chicken and egg white allergy manifests itself as a downward mood swing - I cry. The books I have on sensitivities confirms that chicken can cause depression. I avoid chicken and egg whites. I am trying to find out if I might tolerate the broth since it is good for colds.

I am also allergic to chicken. No, there is nothing u can do to "help" her, except keep all poultry products away from her!! I have trouble breathing, get terrible heartburn, hives, throat swells up, and I vomit from eating chicken. And that was only one bite of chicken by accident!!! Keep Benadryl available for accidental eating of poultry just in case tho.

Also-I spoke w a medical student friend of mine, stating it was a protein that birds carry which I am allergic to. I used to think if I ate organic and corn fed only, it would help. It doesn't. My allergy is all birds. Chicken broth is a no no also.

I could eat chicken up until I was 17. I am now 54. I can't eat anything chicken-related (broth or meat) and if I do, anywhere from 2-8 hours later I am doubled over with excruciating abdominal and back cramps (the pain is so bad I drop to the floor in a fetal position for 5-10 minutes, then I'm fine for 10-15 minutes, and am in agony again for another 5-10 minutes). This is accompanied with vomiting and diarrhea and all of this can last up to 3 days. At a company function, I passed a plate of chicken one night to another person, not overly concerned about getting ill, however, I guess the plate had chicken grease on the bottom and I ate a roll afterwards, which I can only guess had the chicken grease on it from my fingers - by the end of the evening it was all I could do to get up and leave the facility without dropping to my knees in pain ! 2 years ago I came back from a Caribbean vacation feeling perfectly fine. I made a lovely dinner for my son (who I figured had not eaten well while I was away). About 6 hours later I was collapsed on the floor in pain and couldn't figure out where I had been exposed to chicken - it was too long after arriving home from vacation to associate it with food I had eaten while I was away. After a day I was finally able to eat some buttered toast and within an hour I was doubled over again. After another day I ate just plain rice and was fine. On the 3rd day I tried buttered toast again and collapsed in agony. Turns out while I was away my son had some of the guys over for a chicken BBQ and baked potatoes. We figure someone must have dipped the same knife into the butter that had touched their chicken and contaminated the butter with chicken grease. I threw out the butter and was fine after that. Went out for dinner one night and asked for a Caesar salad with steak slices on top. The person I was with asked for a Caesar with chicken. We each got what we ordered.....however, I was extremely ill for 2 days - we figure the kitchen must have made both with chicken then realized that one was to have steak, removed the chicken off the top and replaced it with steak. When I was about 20, I went to a company function for dinner and I ordered fish (everyone else was ordering chicken). The fish came on a bed of rice which I didn't think to be an issue. I was extremely ill for several days, and when I phoned the restaurant I found out the rice was made with chicken broth. It's not in my head and I would love to eat chicken again, but after experiencing so many issues with chicken-related products (not turkey or eggs) I am extremely cautious when I eat out and mention my allergy to every single server even when chicken isn't ordered by anyone who I am with. I have given birth twice and prefer that over the pain that I have after eating chicken ! It's a radiating pain that starts in the lower back and move slowly into the stomach cramping up every single muscle in the stomach and taking your breath away, lasting about 5-10 minutes, then stopping for a bit only to return again and again for several days. At the same time you don't know which end of your body to place over the toilet - your head or butt. In short - it's NASTY !

I am allergic to Chicken and any type of farm raised meat  All I do is itch on my hands and feet  I thoght i was crazy until I found out my mother and brother had the same reaction.  My son also recently told me his hands and feet itched when he ate chicken.  I have tested for all kinds of allergies but they do not have one for chicken or meat.  Salmon also gives me the same reaction unless it is wild salmon!

I have been allergic to chicken, turkey and probably all foul.

Just touching the meat can cause spots and redness on the skin and eating it makes my very, very sick.

I also noticed how many other products contain chicken, some pork pies, sausage rolls, pork luncheon meat and several potted meat spreads and patties.

I am 60 and am used to reading labels but as an amusing foot note, some years ago, I had an opperation, leaving me with difficulties usin my arms, a young nurse started feeding me chicken soup.

Once I had realized what it was, I dribbled as much out as possible and tried to stop her, but was saved by my Dr who promptly stopped her and showed her my notes

I am allergic to all poultry/fowl and their feathers as well. My only other food allergy is mushrooms (hives/tongue swells/etc.) While having the allergy is a pain at times, it does make you read EVERYTHING on a label before buying. It also eliminates almost all prepared foods and diets. I prefer to not spend three days in the bathroom from one bite of chicken/turkey/duck/etc. Good to know I am not alone!!! I have been "bird" free for over 20 years.

I have been allergic to chicken and turkey since I was 13 years old. I've had a prick test to confirm the allergy. You can help by making sure that foods like French fries aren't cooked in the same oil at restaurants, check ingredient labels-esp for soups, and be supportive esp with your family members to make sure they understand that it is an allergy and should be treated as so. Therefore no chicken on the same grill she is going to eat food from too. Keep children's benedryl around and an epi pen. Most of all, be supportive. It sucks feeling embarrassed over a health problem that you had no control over having and people looking at you like your nuts. Apparently, peanuts are the only allergy people make a fuss about but there are people who are allergic to other foods too.

I'm 40 just found out last week I was allergic to chicken. I don't have any kind of pain or discomfort like some of you mention it just affects me getting a full nights sleep, asthma, and eczema I've always been allergic to seafood, fish. And bananas cantaloupe all kinds of things but chicken has been added to the list. I must say I have slept better the last week and my eczema has not bothered me at all, I'm excited about my new journey #chickenfree.
