Back pain along with stomach bloating and bowel problems

For about a week and a half now I have been suffering from constant back pain that seems to move around my back and seems to be intense at night. Along with this is stomach bloating and bowel problems, some days I can't stay out of the restroom and other days nothing or very little. I have a lot of gas, yet it seems hard to expel. Not sure if I should call my doctor or is this something that will pass. I do have IBS so not sure if it is just a matter of time and it will go away?

sounds like gall bladder to me
I have good news and bad news for everyone.  It gets worse, and it gets better.  I have been suffering with this for eight years and I am on morphine and oxicodone.  I have been researching this for seven years.  So one of the possiblities is hiatal hernia in the stomach; this causes a good portion of food to hold back and go through all at once causing massive problems through the digestive tract.  Chrohn's disease were parts of the large intestine are dead and others alive causing the same thing.  Weakend back muscles and overly tightened stomach muscles causing a pinching affect on the intestines pushing them to the back.  IBS is where some parts of your digestive system is hyperactive with muscle contractions while others are sluggish and it can alternate.  Inflammatory bowel disease also causes the same thing put material will back up next to the swollen area and gas will back up only letting fecal matter pass till the swelling goes away.  Some internal cancers cause the intestinal system to paralyze and have the same affect.  Opiods cause the intestinal system to be slow to respond. Molds and fungases in your place can also cause intestinal paralysis     What to do?  Many of things.  The thing that can help you the most is keep a food journal.  I am allergic to nothing but found that shellfish, nuts, and refined sugars cause me the most problems.  Only one to two cups of coffee; any more than this causes to much contraction of the intestine and the stomach to flush. At first it will make you go but will hold back more waste in the long run.  Search your place top to bottom for mold, mildew, and fungas.  Many of these have been known to cause these problems.  Get a blood test done for cancers, especially if you are a woman as ovarian cancer causes the worst intestinal paralisis.  Take your three normal meals and cut them in half, then eat that every two and a half hours.  Do crunches, leg lifts, and back raises to strengthen the back and abdominals; this gives the gas no place to expand.  Wash your hands very often especially before you eat as the transfered bacteria can cause many of these symptoms.  When it is fecal matter trapping the gas in the intestines ask your doctor for a prescription of Bentyll wich is a smooth muscle relaxer desighned for the intestines.  Take the bentyll, 800mg of ibuprofen, take something for pain if it is severe, now wait two hours and eat some meat and cheeses as it forms a large hard feces.  Two more hours later have a couple cups of cofee.  This will act like a cork at the end of a pipe then loaded with air, a potatoe gun.  When the plug forces its way down the intestinal tract in forces the gas out.  Finally is when you rest make sure you are upright letting gravity help things out causing things to flow better.  I hope this helps everybody.  I go back to the gastroenterologist next month hoping just to find out what is wrong, I had a gas pocket that actually lodged under my spine once and threw my back out.  I have gone to the emergency room twice for what I thought was a heart attack, and had to be dragged in passed out from pain from my body going crazy and trying to reject everything in my whole digestive system at once.  Good luck and God Bless
I had the same symptoms for about 3 years, progressively getting worse. I use to do a lot of cycling as well and after each session my situation would get worse. Took me a while to figure what the problem was. I realised that my problem was caused by my carrying of a heavy rucksack - which I carried on my right shoulder. The muscles which i used, when I swung the rucksack onto my shoulder were the one's causing the problem! Especially if the weight was heavy. So I stopped carrying any weight on my right shoulder and also did a lot of stretching exercise to loosen the stomach muscles and the muscles on my right hand side of the ribs. It worked for after a few weeks.Give it a try and give your feedback.
I read your article and it is so similsr to what ive been going throuh! Constant lower back pain, shortness of breath and feeling bloated/gas and full feeling with serious mood swing as well. Just got checked by my obgyn and he said everything looks ok asI looked up my symptoms and I didnt like what I was reading. Any info. on what you came up with as to your symptoms?? Thanks Lisa.
Hi There I just read your post... its over a year old now, just wanted to know if you ever found the problem to it. I have the exact problems you described (for over a year now) and the only thing they found was the high blood iron. i have done blood tests. ulcer tests, stool tests, ultrasound, CT scans ex-rays, nuclear scans, endoscopy.... you name it! and the doctor says there is nothing wrong. i hope you get this, ThanksDarren
Hello, I am 17 years old and I am having these same issues. I've been having problems for over a year now, and everytime I go to the doctors they say nothing is wrong with me and that it is just a little constipation...
Did they ever find out what was going on with you? I have these sames symptoms in the exact order. I was thinking the same thing about going to the hospital. Please h
Wierd. Same exact thing for me. I'm in the process of checking out all the things you mentioned... so far so good. I do have IBS although it's managable. But the constant pain is making me feel borderline psychotic. It gets worse as the day goes on, and the new bed is very helpful (iComfort by Serta). I am seeing a chiropractor and that has also seemed to help although I need to go about twice a week to minimize the back pain (and it's getting pricy). I've also noticed that if I eat a small snack every 2 hours or so, I don't have as much back pain... it's like my empty stomach pain transferred to my back. Another monkey wrench for you; it didn't bug me at all while on vacation (despite the uncomfortable beds). Less stress? More Sunlight? Eating whenever I wanted? Let me know what you think.
I think everyone of you should look into candida yeast overgrowth , first off stay far away from sugar . second you should greatly increase your dark green veg intake dramiticaly ! I have been fighting this for almost 3 years now an let me tell ya as soon as you think its almost gone an you eat sweets ...... your back to square 1 . Do you people have a sweet tooth ??? I used to be nick-named the cookie monster if that tells ya anything lol . When i first had my symptoms i started goin to the bathroom funny . Real dry , mishaped stool then i was constipated for over 2 weeks ! The doc kept giving me stool softener , that worked for a few days then it didnt , so he incresed it then that plus laxatives an after 2 weeks none of it was working at all . I still have symptoms but i do not get bloated half as much as i did before . You will find internet sites that tell you probiotics .... they do work to a degree . I have found more help out of the threelack . Look that up it will greatly decrease your symptoms ! That still has not done the trick for me so i think im gonna try some other products . Hopefully your body is not as overrun as mine .Atleast look up candida overgrowth , be very honest with yourselves if you have a craving for sweets . Everything you people have described i am going through myself an all fingers point to this so look into it and please give me feed back
It could be a wheat intolerance. I had problems with pain and headaches and bloating and constipation one minute diarrhea the next. I finally gave up bread and anything with wheat in like cakes etc. I lost weight and felt the best I had in years. My head was clearer and I wasn't tired any more during the day. Hope this helps..I ate lots of veges, fruit, chicken, fish and rice crackers and rice(not too much) and yoghurt. Hope this helps And gave up coffee too.
That same thing has been goin on with me for a long time, until i get use to it but it is very uncomfortable, what is dat?

Noone has mentioned H. Pylori... (helicobacter pylori) my dad had it diagnosed and cleared up with a course of antibiotics while living in Canada, but I'd never heard of it in the UK. It is supposed to be very, very common and easily cured, but rarely diagnosed. I get sporadic bouts (every six months or so) of extreme pain under my ribs - makes me instantly think 'ulcer'. Not sure what triggers it but it is often after a period of too much coffee or alcohol or bad diet (I always feel better on low carb). Symptoms include gnawing pain (not cramps) in upper abdomen, which feels better when you press on it, severe bloating, nausea, appetite feeling unsurpressed even after eating, flatulence, some biliousness, dragging feeling like there is a large stone inside your system. I have previously been tested for gallstones, liver function etc and all clear. I am going to ask for a test for H Pylori next, sounds like something you lot should be doing too.
Absolutely agree with all those who have said to restrict (preferably rule out) wheat and sugar as a matter of course, and that includes milk - which is sugar too and not fit for adult humans to drink. I'd also eliminate starchy foods inlcuding potato, pulses and rice - starch is sugar too after all. Sugar feeds pathogens (bad stuff). It's important to idenitfy and clear up anything which is treatable but in the longer term, we will all benefit from getting as close to paleo eating as we can to be strong and healthy. That means steering clear of processed foodstuffs and sticking to meat, fish, shellfish, green leafy veg, seaweed, berries (include bananas and apples in that) but less of the citrus fruits, loads of red and yellow veg too, and nuts and seeds. If we all backed off our diets to that for a while, we'd all feel much better. It is very, very hard in today's society to stick to that, but it's also easy to give it a go - we all have the choice to live well.
