I had my IUD removed 12 days ago, and started my period 10 days ago, and its still going strong. I too have periodic clots and am extremely exhausted. After reading everyone's comments its good to know I'm not the only one going thru this.

I have been bleeding for 17 days after my mirena came out , I went to thr hospital yesterday ecause the bleeding was getting worse not better and they ran few tests and said my body was not making enough hormones from the mirena removal to stop myself from bleeding , he prescribed me to take 4 elesse birth control the next day. 3 the next then two and one untill the bleeding stops. He said if it didn't stop in 7 days to return to the er hopefully this does the trick.

I got my IUD out 24 days ago and I am still bleeding very heavy, tons of clots some extreemly large and others are smaller. It's been over the 3 week mark that most of the others stopped at. All I want to do is live a normal life again, maybe have sex with my boyfriend, for us every 2nd day was good, 25 days seem like forever!

what i had to do was go on a birth control to stop the bleeding i had to take it like 3 times a day , i did this for 3 days untill the bleeding completly stopped, & then i stopped taking the pill and then i had a normal 4 day period and i havent bled since , just waiting for my period to return now.

You didn't really give it long enough to settle down to be honest. I've had 3 Mirena's over the years and they do take a while to settle down (at least 6-9 months) and then they are brilliant. I only ever had light spotting every 5 or 6 weeks and sometimes went a couple of months with nothing. It's a shame you weren't advised to wait a little longer x

I'm so sorry for your daughter but that's very rare. I've had 3 of these coils over the last 20 years and I have friends and family who have used it too and on the whole it is brilliant. It's giving back the lives of women going through the menopause who bleed heavily. It certainly shouldn't be taken off the market.

It sounds like your daughter got some good advice to have it removed straight away as it certainly didn't suit her.

Hope she recovers fully x

hi ladies

i to have had similar problems with my mirena i had it in for 4 months and never stopped bleeding hd it removed last week and i'm still bleeding ucky for me it isn't heavy bleeding but i would never recommend it to anyone i have only got to have sex 3 times in 4 mths and this resulted in heavier bleeding i am now unable to tell what is my period and whats not my doctor said i would bleed for a fews days after it was removed then i would be ok yeh right ...the stress for this is as unbareable as the bleeding and is causing problems in my relationship as you would expect when all your partner hears is "not tonight dear" the whole ordeal has left me feeling like a failure as a woman physically and mentally

I had mirena removed sept 4 n started the pill that same day, I got my period on the 6th even on the pill n today is the 29th n I'm in my 5th day of my pink pill n I'm bleeding clots still I'm kind of getting nervous. I been bleeding bad for the whole 4 weeks n getting headaches every single day I actually live off of Advil. Getting mirena removed sucks but in the long run I hope it was worth it. Had it removed due to ovarian cysts. Was due to remove it in may of 2013

I only had my mirena for a month and I couldnt take it...I kept having horrible cramps and spontaneous spotting. One night I was cramping so bad I removed my iud myself. I felt relief immediatley and all of the cramping stopped....4days later I'm bleeding slightly heavy but I feel fine. I made an appt. with my OB just to be safe

Excuse me but it sounds like you're a paid spokeswoman for this evil contraption, Mirena!

I got the mirena placed in sept of 2010. I gained 50 lbs lost a lot of hair, got cystic acne on my face and back, headaches, breast tenderness as if I was pregnant, and I would snap out over stupid things. I had it removed May 18 2012. Removal was painless, thank god as insertion felt worse than labor( I have two kids mind you and labor pains didn't have anything on insertion pain).

After removal I was expecting bleeding immediately, but it took a few days. Being recently married(April of 2012) after ohh three weeks of bleeding I had enough and went to my gyne and got three months of BC to try to regulate myself. When I started the first pill pack after about four days the bleeding stopped and didn't come back until my white pills. Even then my cycle was jacked because on a Sunday start I wouldn't get my period until I was on Fridays placebo pill. Month two I started on Sunday as well and by Wednesday week one bleeding was over. Again on the placebo pills my cycle didn't start until Friday. Month three I again started on Sunday bleeding stopped in Wednesday but this time during week two of active pills I had spotting to moderate bleeding. Now as my pill packs are done I have been bleeding for like three weeks straight, some of which I was still on the pill! It's beyond ridiculous at this point. Huge clots, weird bubbling feeling at times in my uterus, seriously when is this going to end?? Only perk thus far is I have lost 20 lbs since I had mirena removed and my lifestyle has not changed! I am seriously considering going and demanding a D&C because I can't take this bleeding any longer!!

I had my Mirena (Evil contraption) removed Sept 21st and started the pill immediately too. I bled for 5 days after removal and then the next 7-8 days I didn't bleed at all. I thought I had it made. I started what I thought was my period on October 4th. It was very heavy with large clots which I expected. What I didn't expect was that it would still be with me on the 16th of October! It's been heavy to light but seems that there is no end to this. I saw my Dr yesterday and she is now testing me for thyroid and anemia. She also said that she saw blood in my uterus. When I looked into that I found that hormone levels can cause this along with possible thyroid problems. I am so anxious about this and I'm not sure what to think. Its been almost a month....I want my life back. : (

I am so glad to finally read that someone didnt have a terrible reaction to having it removed. I have had mine in for 5 years and am having it removed tomorrow... I thought I should do some research on getting back into a normal menstrual cycle and the stories of mirena removal have terrified me!! I had a great experience with the mirena I'm almost considering just replacing it with another....
Thanks for the encouraging post!!! Hopefully my experience is as smooth as yours was

Hi Guest. So how did the removal go? How about the last few days after it's been out? I'm having mine removed tomorrow, and I'm scared of what might happen after removal. Thanks.
