There seems to be a lot of posts here for what I would consider easily diagnosable symptoms. The original thread is about an immediate sensation after consuming alcohol, litterally more immediate than physically possible. People who have burning sensations when urinating etc, this is not the right thread and you should just go see your docto.

Has anyone had any news on what might cause an immediate sensation rightafter first sip? I don't drink much these days but I still get it, especially with wine. Litterally first sip and before the wine has had a chance to reach the bottom of my stomach, tingle in the end of my penis. Very strange.

I've had this ever since I can remember. I'm 31 now. It started as a child for me. Too much sugar and salt caused a situation where after peeing deep yellow, it felt like there was still some left that could not come out. It burned like hell and all I could do was drink as many glasses of water as possible as quickly as possible to make myself pee again. Once I peed again, it was fine. The warmer the water, the better. I've always been too poor to see a DR about it. As time goes on it seems to occur more frequently, 2 cans of Coka-Cola is all it would take. However, it also changes to include a small burning in my bladder as well as along the underside of my penis, from the base to the head. I probably do have HPV, but this all started long before then. Anyways, so all I need to do is drink more water and it makes me pee. Once I pee out the excess junk: salt or sugar, it's good to go. The clearer in color my pee is, the better my penis and bladder feel. So, whenever you plan to drink, make sure to have a lot of water as well and your problem will be solved.

it is definite interstitial cystitis....Only cure is Elmiron which you have to take for the rest of your life. Or you can do what I did.....I stopped Alcohol completely. Once I have one drink the flare up occurs. The lining in your bladder has weaken so high acidic fluids like alcohol burns the walls of the bladder hitting the nerves which are directly connected to your penis tip......the pain sucks. only over the counter products helps relieve is aspirin...need to take 1000mg 3 times a day for 7 days......be careful, need to take with food as it can upset your stomach.

Been there,done that!
For one beer has yeast, therefore it can cause burning on the bladder!
Secondly, it flairs what is called interstitial cystitis, a condition that makes the lining of the bladder inflammation!
Alchol of any sort can trigger this too!
(Imagine pouring rubbing alcohol on an open wound)
No cure either, just like most other conditions!

I posted a comment to this thread a few years ago saying I couldn't figure out why the tip of my penis would burn within a couple of minutes of taking my first sip of anything with alcohol. It would burn for about 20-30 minutes and I would experience some relief when going to the bathroom but it would continue then end as abruptly as it started, regardless of how many drinks I had thereafter.

I went to a urologist who had never heard of such a thing and all tests for STDs and other things came back negative. After a couple years of dealing with this I quit drinking Mountain Dew (I was drinking several a day) and the symptoms disappeared.

A couple months ago my symptoms started up again after not having any for 2-3 years. In addition to a burning penis with alcohol I also was urinating frequently and having a milder burning sensation randomly without any association with alcohol. At first I thought I had a STD and my doctor saw white blood cells in my urine so she put me on an antibiotic. When I returned for a follow-up visit she said the culture didn't show any infection so I must have cured it (since I had drank a lot of cranberry juice prior to seeing her). I continued to have sporadic pain, in addition to the alcohol sensitivity, and thought maybe I just needed some time to heal. A couple weeks later I drank some orange juice (which I don't do often) before going to bed and I was up most of the night urinating and having pain. I looked back at this post and saw someone mentioned Interstitial Cystitis so I researched it.

After looking at triggers for Interstitial Cystitis I now realize that this was caused by the Green Coffee Bean Extract pill I had begun taking a few days before all these symptoms started. Interstitial Cystitis is a bladder wall inflammation that is somewhat rare but is now becoming very prevalent, usually misdiagnosed, as a result of the popularity of Green Coffee Bean Extract supplements. The excessive acid from the Mountain Dew was what caused my original episode.

The active ingredient in Green Coffee Bean Extract is an acid which is dramatically reduced as the coffee is roasted. Now I am completely "cured" and am able to drink lots of regular coffee even though caffeine can also be a trigger for IC. Fortunately I am not going to have to give up alcohol to keep this from being an issue! I encourage you to try to modify your diet by eliminating unnecessary acids and look at your supplements if you have these symptoms.

I have posted on this thread before, but wanted to provide an update. I’m a 49 yo male that first experienced the symptoms almost 4 years ago; within a couple of minutes of consuming even small amounts of alcohol I would experience a very intense tingling (almost burning) sensation in my penis. I also was having urgency issues. On a 2 hour flight I used the lavatory 4 times, and I didn’t drink anything at all on the flight!

Over the past 4 years I have seen to GPs and 2 urologists. Here’s the summary of what was tried and what has worked.

1. I have taken two different courses of antibiotics in case the symptoms were caused by an infection…no relief.

2. Two of the doctors prescribed medication to reduce the size of my prostate, although urologist #2 did not think it was enlarged, urologist #1 kept going back to an enlarged prostate causing the problem. Bottom line, after months of medication to shrink the prostate no relief.

3. Urologist #1 performed a cystoscopy; camera up the urethra and inside the bladder. Don’t worry guys, you are knocked out during the procedure. Tests were conducted that ruled out bladder cancer and IC, but the urologist did say my bladder was “messed up”. I don’t remember the exact words he used, but he essentially said something is going on with my bladder and he doesn’t know what.

4. Urologist #1 did not see a bladder stone during the cystoscopy, but wanted to rule it out so he also did a MRI looking for stones…negative for bladder stones. Urologist #1 is stumped, which is why I sought out a second opinion.

5. Urologist #2 looked at all of the test results and agreed that it was not IC, cancer, or stones. Contrary to urologist #1 he did not think my prostate was enlarged. He recommended a diet change eliminating the “four Cs”. No caffeine, chocolate, carbonation, or citrus. If you look at beverage labels, just about everything sold has one of those. You are restricted to drinking H20, milk, or herbal tea. If the four Cs didn’t work the next step would be a more radical diet adjustment; no alcohol, tomato products, or bananas. I was already restricting alcohol as this is what started the whole mess, and was very surprised that bananas can irritate the bladder (I eat one every day).
Bottom line: possible irritation from caffeine, but after months of trying the diet restrictions, determined that the only thing irritating my bladder was alcohol.

6. In between visits to U#1 and U#2 I saw my GP. He prescribed Elmiron on the educated guess that it might be IC. Elmiron has provided me with about 80% relief. I still feel the tingling when drinking alcohol, but it is less intense and more tolerable. Urgency is reduced, but not eliminated. Even though he does not think I have IC, U#2 said OK to take Elmiron if it provides relief.

7. U#2 mentioned that if diet restriction did not work they could burn the inside of my bladder with a laser and hope that the tissue that grows back is healthy. He said that this procedure is not without risks; at this point I don’t plan on trying it.

Recommendation: See a urologist if you haven’t already. Try the diet restrictions mentioned. Talk to your doc about Elmiron. Hope this helps!

Had this problem for years. Sometimes there is a bad burning sensation after drinking on the tip of my penis. Definitely worse when I drink then masterbate. Idk if it's an allergic reaction or what but the best relief and prevention is making sure you are hydrated and drink as much water as possible.

I am female, have had the excruciating burning sensation for the past few years starts in the evening around 6pm and stops me from having a decent nights sleep. Up to the toilet constantly through the night and can't lay on my stomach as this just causes more burning. However goes off about 3am or there after after a cup of tea (dont ask???). I had loads of tests and ultra sound they found nothing but I was treated for a dry womb which was what the doc thought it was, the hormones just made me put weight on after it had taken me a year to slim down to a comfortable weight for my daughters wedding. Comfortable being that I forgot all about the burning, had no bloating and no burning until I had put that extra stone and a half back on. I have had a food allergy test four years ago to confirm that I was wheat intolerant but it brought up other foods including citrus, tomatoes and cocoa. The test didn't include alcohol I'm afraid of which I do like a glass of wine just to settle me after looking after grand-kids all day. Looks to me like it must be food or drink related also remember that while I was at a low weight I drunk lots of water. As many have said before me I'm glad that I'm not the only one that suffers from this...the doc was baffled but suggested that i may have IC. Seems like rather than going to the docs again I need to get back to my low weight, avoid the foods that have come up on the test and drink lots of water.

I am a male who has had this problem after a few beverages. I highly recommend you be properly hydrated before consuming alcohol. It seems to have resolved it for me.

Yes I too can identify with this. It seems impossible that a reaction should be so rapid but it really is.
