hello, I am a 32 years old female and I have been suffering from buzzing sensation in the head for over 3 months now. I also feel a flickering all over my body ( back, legs, arms) but mostly in the head. I have seen a nuerologist, MRI,MRA,MRV, results are normal. I was also reffered to an ENT because before all these symtoms started 4 months ago I had a nasal congestion and when I tried to blow the mucus out, I became very dizzy, felt like the wall was spinning for a few seconds. Since then I had foggy vision for 2 months. My vision eventually better after a few months but the buzzing sensation in my head has not gone away. feels like its gotten worst because now I also have flickering and pulsing sensation all over my body mostly in my head. I have seen almost all type of specialist but cant seem to find whats causing the problem. The back of my neck has been hurting also and I do hear a sound more like a sizzling sound, not sure if its coming from neck, throat or ear but these feeling are very disturbing. I feel like I had developed anxiety because its been going on for a while now and still cannot rule out whats causing it. Please help if you have an idea, thank you in advance!

Hya I hope this will help, but I also have this problem I have all the things you explain, I am a fitness instructor and have been for many years but I have a bad neck and shoulder rib problems which, when the neck and shoulder gets really bad, I get all what you have, and sometimes the hissing that goes through my head is terrible, then one day I went to a sports therapist, he found the biggest knot in my lower shoulder, he worked on on my neck, it was quite painful, but within aday my ears stopped hurting my sneezing and nose cleared and the buzzing and hissing went, I still get it now and again, I have it now, but its always when im stressed or I have damaged my shoulder, he did explain, and said its a nerve thing that is a result of the muscles in the neck, he pressed my shoulder and I had the most terrible pain in my head, but he just wanted to show me, but at least I know what it is... this may help you, it may not, but go and have a hard sports massage, and let me know how you get on my email is
I have the humming sounds in mead head early in the morning from around 5 am to 10 am. My mom said to check my blood pressure and sure enough it was elevated. Possibly from too much wine at night? But check your blood pressure next time.
I came here with these sounds/feelings in my head mostly when I moved my eyes, up to 7 sounds in a row as well as being dizzy, feeling lousy, it got worst as the days went by. So bad I made a doctor appoinment for Thursday morning but on Tuesday night I refilled my weekly pills container and realised that I had missed one pill for a week. It was Venlafaxine 150mg, for major depression. What I had was withdrawal symptoms, I knew this straight away and took one of the pills that night, the next morning took another then each morning as usual. Being capsules I could not break in half. By the next night I was feeling much better but still went to the dr, all good. Blood preasure perfect as usual. I do not drink enough water, which is needed to flush out your body. There is normally a reason for any problem, you just got to keep looking. Now I have no noises but still got depression.
Hi, this may end up being very helpful to me. I have fibromyalgia and a number of other health problems. I titrated myself off of Zoloft from 50 mg a day and cut down to 25 mg aday for about 2 weeks and then took 25mg every other day for a week, then went off of it. This may be what is happening to me. It feels like little electrical buzzes when I move my head and my eyes and follows by a little feeling of dizziness. It is more of a sizzling sound. It is hard to describe the sound and exactly where it is in my head. It is very disturbing. Thanks for this post.
Can you please help me this. I have had buzzing in the head for 2 months non stop. 33 year male with cervical spine bulge at c6 -c7. Neuro doesn't think buzzing is directly related but what else could it be!
if you can try carbamazepine. you may have to go close to the maximum to get relief and you will need to get blood tests. Have you had any head or neck injuries? You will also want an X-ray and MRI of your neck to see if you have ANY problems like arthritis, DDD, DJD, etc. where nerves may be being pinched or compressed. I would like to know how things go.
my mother complains of the same thing I was wondering if they found out what caused it and did it go away.
I have buzz in my hear all the time, what can I do?
head buzz all the time
Find a Neurologist that is NOT an IDIOT!!! The one you have IS. It can and most often IS connected with some neck problem. It could be because of nerve damage or the blockage of an artery. Do you have any neck pain, dizziness or headaches? Is the buzzing is closely related to a what some may call a "tingling." If you had a tingling in your arm or lower body the neurologist might then say that it is because of a problem with the cervical vertebrae. The tingling in one's head is the same thing except that it is from a problem in the upper cervical vertebrae. Make sure they take a very good look at C1-C4 for any injury or problem with alignment. As I had replied to someone else try carbamazepine it that stops it or helps it then it is very likely an problem with the cervical vertebrae and the greater or lesser occipital nerve is being pinched by the vertebrae.
Ya ppl smoking spice or doing drugs or just need to stop drinking or just have sex..
Hi thank you for your reply. I had MRI of the brain and spine. Spine showed straightening at cervical and bulged discs at c3c4 and c6 c7 marginally pressing on the left nerve exits. Thank God brain was clear. Have seen a neuroligst 3- 4 times and every time the neurological exam is clear. No loss of sensation, pain or anything else. He has done detailed Blood tests showed slight vitamin deficiency of d. Further bloods are in progress. In addition to buzzing very slight pulsing of nerves behind the neck, hands and now even some tingling in feet - mostly left side but generally both.
Thank you so much. I do have tingling in legs -mostly left but both. The buzzing is a low pitch dull noise - like when you leave a car engine running outside and the windows are shut but you can still hear it. The MRI shows bulge discs and yes I was lifting something on my left shoulder with someone 2 months ago - the guy doing it with me slipped and the weight shifted on me for 30 seconds or so- it was a good 60 kg load... I told this to the neurologist. He buys the story but doesn't think any interference is needed and has put me on sometching called prothiaden which helps partially. He also think cervical issues don't cause symptoms in legs...but doesn't think it is anything to worry about. Confusing! As the symptoms cause nervousness and the buzzing interferes with concentration and sleep. Thankfully the symptoms have not got worse at all but then 3 months and they are still there. Your reply is very informative - are you in the medical field? Thank you
Oh yes the MRI showed bulged discs at c3-4and c6-7. I think it could be because of the lifting 60kg incident. Neurologist thinks could be but is not inconsistent with age. Still doesn't think pulsations/ tingling in leg has nothing to do with cervical vertebrae. Thankfully brain MRI is clear - spine MRI other than the bulge and marginal straightening at cervical and lumbar is clear. Neurological exam is good.
She IS WRONG. The tingling could very well be because of the problems in the cervical spine. You may also want to have an MRI of the lower back for the tingling in the leg but most likely it is in the neck. The nerves that go down the spinal cord with the exception of a few in the C1-C3 that go into the head, then exists lower back go down the legs. So you could have a problem in the neck that you feel in the leg or in the lower back that you feel in the leg. If you were lifting something then it could be that you injured your lower back. and marginal can still cause a lot of problems so can a bulging disk. Don't give up until you pinpoint the problem and get it corrected or you could end up in pain. Remember ALL nerves outside of the brain run through the neck. You can follow where from the point that you feel the tingling back up to the brain. There also could be something wrong with you circulatory system if you get a pulsation. So you really want to have that check out well especially in the area where you feel the pulsation is there a bump there or in that area? I could be a blockage.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
