hello, I am a 32 years old female and I have been suffering from buzzing sensation in the head for over 3 months now. I also feel a flickering all over my body ( back, legs, arms) but mostly in the head. I have seen a nuerologist, MRI,MRA,MRV, results are normal. I was also reffered to an ENT because before all these symtoms started 4 months ago I had a nasal congestion and when I tried to blow the mucus out, I became very dizzy, felt like the wall was spinning for a few seconds. Since then I had foggy vision for 2 months. My vision eventually better after a few months but the buzzing sensation in my head has not gone away. feels like its gotten worst because now I also have flickering and pulsing sensation all over my body mostly in my head. I have seen almost all type of specialist but cant seem to find whats causing the problem. The back of my neck has been hurting also and I do hear a sound more like a sizzling sound, not sure if its coming from neck, throat or ear but these feeling are very disturbing. I feel like I had developed anxiety because its been going on for a while now and still cannot rule out whats causing it. Please help if you have an idea, thank you in advance!

I have been dealing with the same problem for the past 5 days. I see someone said they are experiencing a buzzing "sound". Mine is a buzzing feeling. Like I am dizzy. It is in the front of my head.I have no pain or anything associated with it. I do not feel sick. This issue is getting very disconcerting. I have considered going to the ER, but our hospital here is a joke. If I don't need stitches, they will tell me nothing is wrong. Has anyone found an relief?
Hi, My buzzing sensation turned out to be ordinary vertigo.. Thank goodness! I also had problems when coughing hard, and have felt what I think sounds like your flickering. I have anxiety and depression and I believe part of these sensations are related to that. I'm 64 and this has been going on for me off and on for a long time. The vertigo pills help. I used to have days when I awoke and felt very disconnected from reality, and it lasted throughout the day, and I believe that was vertigo also. My doctor diagnosed it when I mentioned that, in order to keep my balance I needed to turn my arms - I am laughing now cuz this is so bizarre - in circles when first awakened at night to walk to the bathroom. I thought it was a common thing to do, and he's standing there staring at me as I show him, looking quite taken aback. Anyway, I threw it in because it's another symptom. Your condition sounds quite uncomfortable. I hope you can find a solution, but in the meanwhile, try to be as relaxed about it as you can. I imagine any increase in anxiety increases your symptoms. Best of luck.
I've solved my buzzing by getting rid of any otc or perscribed med with diphenhydramine in it - Benadryl, Motrin PM or many of the sleep or antihistamine medications. Try it - I hope it helps you like it helped me.
Good idea... I am cutting back on my Ambien to see if it helps.
Hi Jenn, The "buzzing" sensation is also in the front of my head and started about a year ago. Additionally, my vision is affected (swirls counter clockwise) when it happens. Best description is feels like my head is vibrating internally and my eyes "twitch" back and forth to try to steady my focus. What started as "buzzing" sensation has progressed to what feels more like twitching/pulsations of the brain in my forehead or my brain contracting or flipping around. It sounds strange, but that's my best description. Occurs periodically throughout the day, sometimes every minute or so or 1x every 30 mins or so, most notable when trying to view computer screen, but also when lying down in dark room with eyes close. Occasionally sensation goes away completely for 1-3 weeks, then gradually returns. I've been to all types of specialists. some doctors insist it's stress and anxiety. I do experience inordinate amounts of stress, but the problem happens even when I'm under no stress at all. Main concern is if this is a a condition indicating a degnerative disease. On a lighter note, could be ENT related (sinus pressure, induced by sounds, induced by viewing something visually distored, but ENT and Eye specialists indicate no abnormalities detected. I do however, have an astigmatism in right eye. Strange that so many mention this condition, various extremes, but physicians have no specific diagnosis or cure. I am 50yr. old female. If problem is predominately female, have doctors evaluated for potential hormonal concern?
radiolopex, I am 50 yr old female. "buzzing" sensation is also in the front of my head and started about a year ago. my vision swirls counter clockwise when it happens. Best description is feels like internally my head starts vibrating vigorously and my eyes shake/twitch to steady my focus. What started as "buzzing" sensation has progressed to what feels more like twitching/pulsations of the brain in my forehead or contractions or seizures. I only get the senstation in my forehead...nothing elsewhere in my body as yet. Occurs periodically throughout the day every minute or so or a dozen times per day. Occassionally disappears for 1-3 weeks, but returns gradually. I work in a computer facility. Is this at all similar to your situation?
I forgot to mention my vision is also blurry at times but I attribute this to age, eye strain due to excessive computer use on the job. i also have periods of "brain fog" which is frustrating due to the nature of my job.
My Neurologist said it is some kind of virus. Since my post I almost lost my right eye vision. My optic nerve swelled up. Have to receive a streroid drip in hospital. Got only 50% vision back. Sound in brain now sounds like a transformer on a powerpole malfunctioning. Have a serious burning in left side of neck. Also numbness in right leg. Still depressed and don't go anywhere. Had a bunch of test. All negative. I am goin to a Neurosurgeon an see if something can be done. Can't live like this. We should talk.
Chaz19, so sorry to hear of how seriously the condition has progressed and hope the neurosurgeon has a solution. Have you had any of the following conditions: Diabetes, High BP, High Chol, Glucoma, anxiety/nerviousness, Previous or recurring severe ear infection, low tolerance to noise== loud tv, music, movie theatre or loud conversation? Are you sensitive to bright lighting? Have you ever worked in an area with lots of electrical circuitry or computers? Hope you find releif and feel better soon.

I hope you find out soon because you are not alone.
I am not a doctor. However i had the same symptoms as you and I was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo. the salt crystals behind my ears got clogged up. My ENT took this hand vibrator looking thing and held it behind my ear for a few minutes to break upi the crystals. Good luck to you.
The buzzing just started in my ears within the last several days. I walked all around my house looking for something I may have left on that was vibrating before realizing it was inside my head. I had a sensation of my ears being plugged with water several days ago, but then that went away. It seems that this can happen to a person of any age as I am 62. I live in a very humid, warm climate, with some kind of pollen in the air year round. At least it is good to think that this may be related to a physical problem instead of thinking that I am losing it.
