I am 17 years old and a female and have had this problem. I am going through a battle with satan trying to overcome my addiction and have found some useful things in my search for freedom. Although some of what you say is good, it saddens my heart to see you think this way. Some things you say are true but for the most part you still seem to be in bondage. I have only been free since my 17th birthday January 11 but I have tried over and over to quit and I always mess up after a week. But now I am doing things differently. I am standing on God's word. First I started out with forgiveness. Jeremiah 31:34 and Psalm 103 10-12. God will forgive if we confess pur sins. Then I started reading trying to find out if masturbation is a sin or not. I consider it a sin. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5. It says that we should learn to control our bodies not in passionate lusts like the hethans who do not know God. So I believe it teaches self control. Most people who masturbate often do not know self control because I myself didn't understand how to control myself. As I sit here my hormones are raging. I haven't been thinking about sex, but my body has a normal reaction because I know how great it feels, but I also know how it destroys my mind. I can't explain in words how masturbation messed me up but it did, really bad. I felt guilty every time. I don't have a bf either and I felt rejected by my parents. This is common for many teenagers. although we are different, the temptation is the same. So if it were not a sin why are so many people bothered and destroyed by it. Why can't many overcome it? It is a trick by the devil and we live in denial saying it is not, finding every loophole to keep doing it. Even though you only do it every so often and feel you have control, do you really have control? If we dig deep int our hearts the answer is there to overcome this addiction but it takes time and perseverance and the ability to learn from failures. 1 Corinthians 10:13 God will provide a way out from temptation. It also states that no temptation you have is not common to anyone else. Don't you see masturbation as a temptation. What goes through our minds when we masturbate. That GREAT AWWWHHING feeling we feel after we masturbate is made to feel between man and woman. When you find true love you will see that connection made during sex is so great that you feel bonded with that perso; a bond not felt by the usual crush or love. But when that connection is made when masturbating, is meaningless, it leaves you feeling empty inside. To me you are only half way through your journey. After a couple weeks resisting your sexual urges don't you feel the temptation getting stronger? I believe it is because the devil is sending someone stronger than the last. The first time we become accustomed to masturbation the evil spirit dwells within us. After we resist it and kick it out, it roams to find a resting place and finding none it come back. If we let it in it realizes your weak and can get you everytime with the same words, we just have to realize what the evil spirit is saying to us. To me he kept saying "you don't have a bf so it is ok to masturbate to control your urges so you won't go have real sex" or "God will forgive you anyway and what harm are you doing".... It did a lot of harm to my spiritual state and mental state. After we overcome this trick the demon goes back to make other plans to trick us up. This is where we mostly fall. We let our guard down we think everything is ok. We think we are strong and start to venture out on our own. This is not safe, we must trust in "He who is stronger" and can defeat the devil. We must turn to God's word. Almost everyday I read scriptures to memorize so when Satan comes I'll be ready. We cannot lay around we cannot sit around we cannot take this lightly or we will forever be stuck in the same place. It is not easy but I feel if we had more people accepting of sexual sin just as we are accepting gambling and drug abuse, we could overcome this problem. I know everyone masturbates but who talks about it? Nobody. I feel that you need to get over this urge because it does not seem like you understand fully what you are doing. I'm not over mine yet but I'm acting like Jesus when he went out into the wilderness Matthew Ch. 4... I'm getting on the offensive and taking action. The devil did not come to Jesus. God sent Jesus OUT into the wilderness. The devil will have to look out for me. I'm tired of us sitting around waiting for the urge to become strong and get us and then try to fight. We should always stay on our guard. Sex is everywhere: TV music Billboards Magazines Stores Every Media possible and the urges are restless. I saw a girl comment on your post saying you have helped her and I feel for her too. Even if you say masturbation is not a sin, why are many many many people messed up from it? (rhetorical) It is not easily controlled and the risks of playing with masturbation while trying to pretend we are in control and that we aren't affected by it, are so great that we will eventually fail by halfway getting by. I'd rather choose to be safe than sorry. The Devil doesn't quit so neither should we. God doesn't quit so we are not alone Psalms 121. So why not stand up and fight our addiction? We act too lazily and have little faith. We must trust in God and give it up. for it is by letting go that we gain. I say let go of masturbation once and for all and see how it changes your life. It is a battle that we must go through. Not a month or 3 years but our entire life. It will make you closer to God and open up your life for unbelievable blessings; only if we just HOLD ON and LET MASTURBATION GO.
