Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance of the organisms (flora) that naturally exist in the vagina. If you are not using a condom and are allowing him to orgasm inside you it sounds like his seman is messing up your flora, it messes up your ph. So making him use a condom will help, I have had BV for about two yrs, the last six months I have not had a flare up the next time it flares up soak in the tub for about 20 minutes add a cup or so of apple cider vineger. I run enough water up to maybe my belly and swash the water around the vag area. Do that for a day or so then for me all went away. After a few months of doing that I haven't had any problems of the embarrassing smell or anything else. Don't douch with it just soak in it. There really is no need to douch the vagina is like a self cleaning oven. I have had the same sexual partner for over 25 yrs and had never had a problem and all of a sudden eaither my hormones or the medicine he started taking messed me up I too was tired of going to the doc and spending money but once I tried the apple cider vineger I have not had any more problems.
You know maybe the correlation is the men are smokers? I have noticed that his "smell" is very different than my previous boyfriends that did not smoke....maybe its the semen from a smoker? Just thinking outside the box.
Hope this helps you and other woman out there who are suffering.
Not true: BV IS a sexually transmitted disease. Rarely do virgins get BV. Almost as rare is a women getting BV from her faithful husband who was a virgin too when they got married.
BV IS NOT a sexually transmitted disease. Virgin's also do not get cervical cancer, but I'm sure you'll agree cervical cancer is not a STD. BV occurs when the natural pH of your vagina is altered for one reason or another, allowing harmful (and odorous) bacteria to multiply. The natural bacteria on a penis may do this as does semen. Most likely virgins do not get BV is because they are not disrupted the natural flora of their vagina, I imagine the reasons why married women in a faithful relationship do not get recurring BV is because they body has adapted to their partner's natural bacteria and semen over. Our bodies are very clever like that!
The most useful thing I have found to combat recurring BV is a vagina gel called Balance-Activ, not sure if it has been mentioned on this site before as I'm new. But it can be found in most Boot's stores or cosmetic type stores or I think you may be able to order it online. You use it 7 nights consecutively if you have BV at the time or just every now and then to help prevent it. It is not harmful at all, i.e you don't end up with thrush like I do after the doctor gives me antibiotics, I think they should prescribe this instead! IT REMOVES THE ODOUR INSTANTLY =) good luck to you all, it's awful suffering with it when it keeps on recurring.
i have been getting bv on and off for a year now i will go to the doctor get rid of it then i will get it right back as soon as i have intercourse the last time was only two weeks after i took the medicene and i had it back i just got done taking the metrondiazle pills and that always gives me a yeast infection ive done everything i could think of to prevent it but it keeps coming back they prescrbed me with the gel inserts this time around so hopefully this will help its getting so stressful and overwhelming i cant take it anymore they said it couldnt be my partner but i was reading about it being his semen? could that be it idk im just so sick of going through this i was also on the depo shot july of last year i only got it one shot and had nothing but problems with it it was yeast for awhile not BV but not its BV an d not yeast idk ive never had this many problems EVER so im not really sure whats going on the doctors dont even know...
