I have been drinking quite regularly lately(beers) and have noticed that I experience constant pains on my left side of the chest and my left upper arm too, infact I feel a little numbness on my arm as well, my upper left backhurts a lot too. Please help, could this be a heart disease caused by too much alcohol? Im worried. What could be causing chest pain after drinking alcohol?
i've been experiencing the exact same thing as you've described. Can be worrying some times, but the fact that it usually goes away after a day, maybe two, i tend to forget about it. Would love some medical explanation however.
Hi:
Alcohol damages the heart. It makes the heart beat faster and harder. As a result, the heart requires more oxygen, which can cause chest pain. The remedy is to stop drinking. This problem can occur with regular use of whatever may be equivalent to 1/2 bottle of wine per day. When the heart is strained, and oxygenation is a problem, muscles can be affected too. This is apparently a little known effect of alcohol. Think about taking up some other activity as you hopefully try to stop your current level of alcohol use. I'm sure you will feel better and you will be better for the people who are closest to you, if not others s well. Think about taking a different approach to life. The warning signs are there already. Don't ignore them. Let me know if you need help with ways and support groups that will help you stop drinking.

Hi
I have the same problem, get lower left chest pains for a few days after drinking. Though i only have one heavy night out every week or two.
I dont have a drinking problem as i said i only drink once every week or two so dont really want to stop, as its a nice social outing :-)
My question is if i give it a break for a few weeks, will it be fine or should i cut back, and if cut back how much on a heavy night out?
Also when i have had these pains i went to the doc, and he could find nothing wrong with my blood presure, colestoral or my heart? any idea's?

Your body is not a bank, so you can't drink five or six drinks at one go and expect your body to recover! You are okay having one or even two drinks per day, like red wine or something, and have actual health benefits to drinking. But if you are binge drinking, like say five or six drinks in one night, you are putting yourself at risk for heart disease and there's no benefit to it. I hope that this is helpful, although probably not welcome...
Hey, yeah i have the same problem, although i got chest pains before i even started drinking, like years ago, so i onlyjust clicked that alcohol could be a cause of the pain. haha.
but dsdesk is talking as if its very serious, like if i dont stop drinking then i'm going to get even more serious problems? i've also been to the docs and he said i was fine, so is stopping drinking really the answer? Also my chest pains happen when its cold, or i run so maybe htis doesnt apply at all. haha

Hi y'all!! Hey am New here!!!
I had pain on my left side of the chest too. Feels like the heart is being tied up then it feels like its tired or something... It seized for some years but now it is back. I feel it the next day after alcohol consumption. I think it could be something to do with cold, alcohol or a combination of both. Anyone who knows the reason..... I really love alcohol and the thought of quitting freaks me out >:(
If I must quit, then I have to use crack or something... I really have to keep my head spinning during my hobby times :-D I call it Utopia world.
Anyone with the answer?
thanks for this website.

Hello guys n gals;
Had this very same problem for years untill i managed to get to a good doctor.
So after eatin fairly or drinkin alcohol, lemonade or similiar i used to feel this awful pain on my chest which continued to arm and left ear, never would of thought it was a heartburn but it is and the thing causing it is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease and there is really alot of different medicines for this and if its really bad it could lead to a surgery.
Hope this helps someone, it helped me.. so all i can say ; go see doctor and demand a Gastroenterology or whatever the right translation for this is.. they have to look in ur stomach ..
Good luck to all!

hi, this is a response slash my own experience, i drink every so often and everytime i do i drink roughly a pint of any kind of drink and i get the awful chest pains right under my heart and my face get extreamly red and i burn up big time? i dont know what it is i have only had it happen twice both times i drank a pint of something on my own. also i only smoke cigarettes when i drink, otherwise i dont some at all. i have no idea what is happening but its kinda scary i have had friends tell me that i could be allergic?
hey people im 23 years old and have been experiencing the same chest pains yall are talking about. for the past couple months ive been drinking alcohol more since i stopped smoking back in january and the chest pains have become more frequent so im guessing the alcohol must be the problem. im going to see what the doctor says also but im definitely gonna stop drinking cause my health is way more important than getting a buzz off alcohol
I would bet you are experiencing bad heartburn. Try taking tums or some other heartburn medicine and see if it relieves the symptoms. Just to be on the safe side you might want to seek a checkup with your dr also if symptoms continue/
It sounds as if your are experiencing bad heartburn. Try to take some tums or other heartburn medicine the next time you have this feeling. Heartburn can feel like heart problems sometimes so if the symptoms continue you might consider visiting your dr.
