I also experienced the tissue like discharge after my colposcopy, and I did some research and came across this information:
AFTER THE COLPOSCOPY
You may experience vaginal bleeding after the colposcopy, especially if the provider performs
biopsies. If the liquid bandage solution is used, you may experience brown-yellow discharge
that may resemble gauze, tissue, or coffee grounds. It is important to note that this type of
discharge is normal and nothing is left in the vagina. The discharge will resolve in a few days.
Any cramping experienced during the colposcopy will resolve in a couple of minutes. Most
women can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
I was beyond nervous. I basically thought I was going to die, especially because I went alone. I read forums before the appointment and read about people fainting, crying, etc.
I was so nervous that I was getting lightheaded when laying on the table. I had one scraping sample taken and one biopsy "punch". The scraping sample wasn't bad, weird/uncomfortable, took a few seconds longer than the other but no eye-watering pain by any means. Then for the second sample, my doctor told me to cough when she did it. It was fine. Way easier than an ear piercing. It definitely did not feel like a chunk of tissue being taken.
The other thing that helped was that I was talking to the doctor almost the whole time. Instead of waiting in silence (which I did at first), I recommend focusing on the questions you have.

This just happened to me. Does it typically happen only once? The first time scared me to death....I thought I miscarried or part of my organs came out of my body. If anyone knows, please let me know!
Just passed mine tonight and I had my colposcopy and biopsy 6 days ago. Glad I found this website earlier when I was having the thick, brown discharge. I can't believe the doctors don't warn you about this. Yeah, they do say "coffee-grind discharge" but they don't mention that it's wrapped in a large sac of skin and may look similar to a miscarriage. Jeez!
I did colposcopy today I had same discharge( coffee ground and white tissue like small piece of soak paper tissue). Thank you for the comment about it. now I know it is normal. I was very bad feeling when I showered after colposcopy because I had very bad smell like smell from dusted old neil on my vagina. I know where the smell from. I think The GYN clinic did not clean enough all equipment properly. thanks god. I did tetanus vaccination before. I will gonna complain about it tomorrow. they did not explained about what discharge come out and very bad sanitation. maybe non sterile. what kind clinic is this?.
Same thing here...dark flesh colored tissue like discharge with coffee grounds ...4 days after Colposcopy.
This is my second colposcopy in 4 years, the first of which was followed by a LEEP. I remember the profound coffee grounds discharge after the LEEP, but nothing after the first colposcopy. Will check with my doctor tomorrow, but sounds like "this happens". Thanks to all of you and hope all are well following what we women endure ;) Blessings!
