I served 5 years in the Navy with my stomach problems and it was one of the best places to work if you have this problem. 1) I was always in a pretty noisy environment, even the classrooms were relatively noisy. 2) You'll always be doing something different. It's not going to be just same old same old every day. 3) You'll always be kept busy, whether working outside, working inside, or whatever. ie. you won't have time to think about your problems because believe me....the military will give you new problems to think about haha. 4) You'll be given 3 square meals a day and you'll be able to eat healthily if you want. There are deserts and soft drinks too, but overall the military will keep you healthy if you make the right choices.
Just forget your problem and go for it if that's what you want to do. Just a heads up, you'll be around a diverse group of people who get a little offensive every now and then, but if you're not overly sensitive then you'll probably like it.

hi guys
ive had the same problem for about 3 years now. My stomach makes really weird noises in the afternoon even when i dont eat anything all day. ive tried to laugh it off but sometimes its so loud i want to curl up and die and i always get funny looks. I was near paralysed with fear at the thought of my two exams this week, both of them 2 and a 1/2 hours long, both of them in the afternoon. i heard somewhere that charcoal tablets help so i decided to try them cos i knew my stomach would wreck my concentration otherwise. Unfortunately i had a really upset stomach last night and i thought "Oh god, nothing can save me now!!!" but i didnt eat any lunch today and i took two charcoal tablets just before i went into the exam room. i was prepared for the worst but the two and a half hours passed and i didnt hear a peep out of my stomach. I was so relieved and i hope they work as well for my next exam. Give charcoal tablets a try and see if they help you cos i think they are a lifesaver. :-D

Hey friends I came across a wonderful atricle on this @ Mayoclinic. Hope this helps us...Even i satarted suffeering form this problem rite now so ..wasa bit worried
Stomach noise — such as rumbling, gurgling and growling — typically is due to normal digestion. Stomach growling can occur when you're hungry. But it can also occur after eating or between meals when food is passing through your intestines.
Hunger and appetite are controlled by a complex system of hormone-like substances primarily made by your digestive system. When you haven't eaten for a while, these substances are released and cause a part of your brain called the hypothalamus to "switch on" your desire to eat. A message is then sent to your stomach and intestines. This triggers muscle contractions and the release of acids and other digestive fluids — which causes the rumbling, grumbling sounds you hear — as your body prepares for you to eat. The thought, sight or smell of food also can trigger this response.
Sometimes excessive stomach noise can be a symptom of an underlying gastrointestinal disorder, such as irritable bowel syndrome. But in such cases, stomach noise usually is accompanied by other signs and symptoms such as bloating, cramping, diarrhea or excess gas.

I am 24 and this problem started to become noticable soon after I graduated college when I turned 22. Generally I worked alone in an office cube, or in a loud deli, so until I got to my current office job at 22 years old it wasn't a big deal. (Thank GOD it didn't happen when I was in college)
When I graduated college at 22 years old I weighed about 145lbs, and was in half decent shape, and ate relatively well. Over the next year or two, I didn't work out, and I tended to eat whenever I was bored, so I would eat even when my stomach wasn't "needing food"
I got this job when I was 22 in a quiet office setting in a cubicle, and it was absolute torture. Meetings were just unbearable. As of January I weighed 160lbs and was out of shape and ate horribly. Not to mention was absurdly anxious about the whole issue. However, this spring (now I'm 24), things have really turned around. I'm eating less, and I'm waiting until I'm hungry to eat. My co-workers that sat next to me moved down to the other end of the office, and the co-worker closest to me has a hearing disability so I know she can't hear my abdomen, so the anxiety of my abdomen making noises has gone away... the biggest thing I think is the anxiety about it. I still get nervous before meetings and stuff, but it's nowhere near the way it was.
If I'm any suggestion, a few things...
1) Have you recently gained weight?
2) Has your metabolism slowed down?
3) Do you eat only when you're hungry?
4) I think having "too much food in a smaller stomach" is a big part of it. Also, hot coffee/sugar is a big trigger for me.
5) ANXIETY!!! If you're able to control you're anxiety, you'll be MUCH better. I think a large part of it is constantly dwelling on it. I remember that I used to think about it 24/7, so that even when I didn't make noise, I still dreaded the next time it would, or dwelled on how embarrasing the last noise was. It was torture!
I don't think anything can rid someone from this, but a few things can certainly help.

Absolutely. This is why I believe it is stress related.
I have found some good ideas though on this site. Doing things such as strictly limiting sugar intake (including chocolate), taking Zantac 150 and Gas-X, doing exercises (especially ones focusing on your abdominal area such as "laying leg raises") will make a huge difference, over time at least.

I am absolutely relieved to have found this thread. I have suffered from this since I was about 13 years old. It started out as just stomach noises (i hated classes--fortunately the ac/heater in the classrooms were usually loud enough), then horrible gas came along with it, and soon after that looser bowels more often throughout the day.
I really avoided people/situations where I might get nervous or I would be in a quiet room with others. I started to eat only to satisfaction, which helped some, and stopped eating greasy, citric, or very sugary food before class, which helped some also. And the noises/gas was much worse when I had an exam or was in a quiet room for a meeting.
After I graduated college and got an office job--I started experiencing some really weird gas/constipation type of symptoms occasionally. I felt like I constantly had to pass gas and couldn't hold it. I would try to go to the bathroom and one piece (sorry tmi) would come out. Then 30 minutes later I would try again and the same thing would happen. Usually taking a multi-symptom Imodium helped, but it wasn't addressing the cause.
It does seem as though very sugary/very processed foods caused the most problems especially with the gas/constipation.
Doctors of course haven't helped. One gave me a prescription to IBS meds. Another said it was normal and related to stress.
My next step will be to try the anti-candida diet.

I had to post my experience, for I googled this right after getting home from leaving work early b/c my stomach was about one minute away from having of full fledge conversation with my co-worker in the next cuble. Yes...very embarrasing! The point in my post here today is to share my hypothesis, for I have read quite a few postings, and just like some, I've noticed a common thread...Stress, Wrong Foods, No exercise. Just think of type of environment we now live in...the pressure to stay employed (maybe), or to out do the next guy sitting on your block of cubicles...just too competetive. You compound all of these factors and CABOOM! You litterally have a CABOOM going on in your stomach.
Getting to my experience...my sounds are similiar to an alien dieing, you know...the high pitch sound..escalating in volume, then suddenly digressing, such as deflating a balloon. Or sometimes, it's the 3 knocks on the door sound (lol)...either sound, it causes me to stress up even more, which makes the sounds more louder, thus making me feel more embarrassed...a visious cycle...yes, one indeed.
Also to continue with my hypothesis...When I think of this visious cycle...STOMACH SOUNDS =STRESS=MORE AND LOUDER STOMACH SOUNDS=MORE LOUDER & FREQUENT STOMACH SOUNDS.
I tend to have a very logical mind, so I thought if my loud stomach noises become more louder & frequent because of FEAR of having more stomach noises, then the only logical thing to do is rid myself of the FEAR. The FEAR that is causing this visous cycle continuing? Will this stop the stomach sounds. Maybe. How? I believe the best way to rid yourself of fear is to face fear head-on. Running like I did today was not of any help. To do this successfully, you have to be willing to look like a total freak. Not a freak forever...just until you can stop this visious cycle dead in its tracks!!!! Be open with your co-workers and let them know that you have a very vocal stomach and there's nothing you can do about right now...so if you hear these strange sounds coming from my way...I'm sorry, but I just can't do anything about it right now. You'll be amazed at how people won't be jerks about it. However, this is only your platform to get your in an area of "HELP". Once you feel people understand, this will decrease some of the fear.
Like I heard others so clerverly suggested...keep a journal ...either on paper or mentally (on paper is better) of what time of day these frequently happen, what triggered a stress mood, such as a meeting, or what did you eat that triggered these episodes? Write it all down and let it happen naturally. Once you learn your visious cycle...do what you need to do to stop it. If you noticed through your journaling that it comes more through your diet versus stress situations, cut out what foods caused it. Or maybe through your journaling you noticed that it was a combination of diet and stressful situations. Well, do a double-knock-out of a diet / destress regimen.
De-stress regimen...My advice is prayer. If you believe in a high-power, for me it is the Almighty God and Jesus Christ. Seek healing through prayer and meditation. Get in the zone where you can get to a higher place of being to eliminate stress and create hope that this thing will be dimolished and gone!
I will be healed of this condition b/c I will not let it defeat me more than it has already have. I only have one life, and I be darned that my "stomach" will get the best of me. I am just not having it!
Pull out your journals & paper and start logging your visious cycle, so you can nip this thing in the bud.
I will be back to post my testimony as to how God healed me and how I was able to overcome FEAR....for I believe this is where this condition lives.
Until then...stay healthy, happy & fearless

Also, see a doctor if not already. Let them at least diagnose you. However, as you can read here, some have been some help and some have not. If not insured...reasearch, research and more research!!! I employ that to even the folks that are insured.

Also, forgot to note ..."The KIdneys". I believe the kidnesy in some weird way is connected in all of this. For just like the digestive system, it is responsible for helping rid our bodies of toxins. Maybe since our digestive systems are not funtioning properly, do you think this is having an accute affect on our kidneys? I think so. So please make sure you research that, and how to stay up on your kidney health.
I'm sorry...not the kidneys...but the liver. Also, I've heard Milk Thistle is good for that.
Also, another thing that came to mind is what type of job do you have? It sounds like most of these postings, people are sitting up stationary looking ahead, whether at a computer, or in a classroom. This commonality may have something to do with the discomfort position of the intestine. Also, consider the type of clothing you're wearing...is it tight around the stomach...which means, when you sit upright, and lets just say you have on tight jeans, this may cut off circulation and may cause more air to trap in your stomach...i know i feel so much better when I undo my pants...but of course, we can't do that at work....so abdominal exercises may help.

Hey I'm not letting this ruin my life...ive had it since i was 16 now im 25 and i can tell you from experience if you let it go out of control it will and morph into louder stomach noises excessive gas and loud noises in your intestines. Ive dropped out of college, walked out classrooms , job trainings, and job interviews. I went from a 3.5 gpa college student with a world of possibilities to unemployed 25 year old with depression.
Today I had a court hearing for a traffic ticket and you all know that means sitting in a quiet room and being nervous. Well walking from my car to the courtroom I had loud noises throughout my whole body from my stomach to loud noises coming from my intestines and the urge to have a bowel movement which helps a little after I did it. I can tell you that I have learned this problem is 90 percent in our heads and 10 percent in our stomachs. We all have bad diets considering the temptations of food but even when we try to eat healthy we still hear the noises....the difference is our anxiety, stress, and things that make us nervous affect our bowels and stomach while others have different symptoms of their anxiety.
I'm going to shortly get on anxiety pills and see a psychatrist as I've read in other threads related to this problem that a few people beat their stomach noises by taking SSRI and other anti anxiety pills and they were CURED. XD Personally i can't attest to the success of this right now but i can tell you all one thing...i wont let this problem ruin my life and when i find the cure you all will too.

oh guys/girls, i was in class lecture 4 2 and a half hours and after the first bloat of the stomach area i couldn't concentrate anymore/ i told the teacher i felt like standing coz its less stressful that sitting (esp. in those tight up desk chairs) i reckon my classmates thought i was being some sorta rebel but i just had to leave classes abruptly or be standing up embarrased to give an explaination so i got in disiplinary troulbles...what a COMPLETE nightmare especially when the love of your life is in class and your only aim is to impress her...OH GOD.... p.s good looking guy with dodgy stomach....scchh shoosh stupid stomach i really hate you sometimes. tips: charcoal tablets, wind ease, exercise, what about fasting or detox planning guys and girls may help....MAY GOD BE WITH YOU
I too have these stomach noises. I first noticed it after I had major surgery in 2005. I never had them before. It is never when I am hungry, it is usually after I have eaten. I do not have excessive gas, diarrhea or bloating with it, in fact I find I have been less gasseous since my surgery. For me it is also not related to regularity, because I am like clockwork. So there must be some other cause.
I am going to try taking the probiotics yogurt and drinks to see if they can help if this is some imbalance inside the stomach. Most doctors (mostly males) do not see it as a problem and just think you are exaggerating. If anyone finds a doctor that takes this seriously, please let us know.

o my goodness, i am not the only one. iv been dealing with this most embarrasing problem for a few years. mine also happens anytime of day and makes human like noises.lol. its not your normal stomach growl. its really loud, noticable, and change pitches. i have tried all types of digestive supplements and remedies and nothing has really worked. i cant even lay with my guy in peace and quite because the noises are so unattractive and loud. this is running my life. if anyone finds any type of remedy please post it to help us all. sharing is caring.
