Learn about your hair, and your hair will be beautiful just like you.
Here are some tips on curly hair.
-Never brush it! Use a wide tooth comb and only in the shower too! After you've stepped out don't comb it! It allows the hair to form curly and won't make it frizz!
-air dry it! Using extensive heat can damage the hair causing breakage. Or at least use a diffuser.
-If your hair is wet, blot with an old cotton t shirt, or a microfibre towel, but oh please, don't use a towel and rub you hair. That cause frizz!
-when combing your hair in the shower (wide tooth comb and don't use a brush!) start at the ends and make your way up, that way you don't "break" your hair .
-Get a good haircut, from someone who actually knows curly hair. If you get a haircut be someone who doesnt, it could end up triangle shaped and a flat top. Not a good combination!
-HYDRATE! Your curls crave for some hydration! If you don't condition it, it ends up dry, so invest in some good conditioner and always use a leave in.
-Don't shampoo it every day! It strips the hair if it's natural oils, and those natural oils are very important! try not to use a shampoo with sulfate(which cause lather) because it strips the hair as said earlier.
So just learn to embrace your hair. There are many sites on the internet to help. One of my favourites is ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed It has information and has a "curlmart" which you can get curly hair products from. Plus this sites includes salons, and many reviews about them. I'm not sure if you'll ever change your mind about curly hair, or if you'll read and learn about it, but it's important to just learn and educate yourself since there's nothing wrong with that.

Great!!! I had a hair stylist who cut my hair great but then she moved 3000 miles away. I haven't found ANYONE who knows how to cut thick curly hair since. She moved in 2002!!!!! Hair stylists don't know what to do with this type of hair. If you google hairstyles for curly hair or whatever they show all these great bob styles and all the models basically have straight hair. Not helpful for me in the slightest. I am also 46 years old and heavy so all the hairstyles would look ridiculous on me anyway. I really really HATE my hair. Tired of looking ridiculous all the time. I would love to just have a professional look to my hair appropriate for my age but it's completely hopeless.
As far as products go, I have had the best luck with products for African American women even though I am Caucasian. They help a lot but it would be nice to have a nice cut for a change.

Its definitely unfortunate that taking care of curly hair has been something ignored for years among the hair industry. Not too long ago, all hair stylists, media, advertisements and even hair product lines COMPLETELY ignored the fact that not everyone has straight manageable hair. Taking care of curly hair is a completely different ball game. But the great thing about it, is once you learn how to properly wash, style and treat it- you will see that it was a hidden gem and will possibly become your favourite physical feature! I remember I hated my curly hair when younger, I was the only one that had curly hair in whole family, my mom had no idea what to do with it. I permanently straightened it, relaxed it and cut it off- soon to realize that I was doing it all wrong, Not to mention all the unfortunate bullying and comments from people about my unruly hair. It took a while to get there but now all I do is motivate everyone to embrace their natural hair. Now that I know how, I have people wishing they had my unique hair. Your natural beauty is beautiful! It just needs to be embraced right ;).
