Hey Pamela, still no answers for me. I'm going on 10 months of this and I really don't know what to do next. I guess it's such a part of me that I don't think about it as much as I did but I still want answers. Another sensation I get is like a gurgling in the same spot (under left rib cage). It's almost like a gassy feeling except it's not gas. Very strange. If you get any leads let me know!
Haley
Hlymorris and Pamela,
I have the same symptoms as well even the bra discomfort. I have had an upper GI, xray, sonogram, upper endoscopy. Nothing but mild gastritous. Dr. put me on Zantac and Bentyl for IBS. Zantac made it worse. Bentyl relaxes me but don't think it helps the problem. Went to the health food store and started taking digestive enzymes. Pain in my abdomen under my ribs and then shooting pain in my back. Xray and other tests show that it is not gall bladder or pancreas. Wondering if I should waste my time getting a CT Scan or Hida Scan for gall bladder???????? I will see if the enymes help but it's been going on for 6 months now and it is a daily basis. Hope things get better for all of us.
Hi Haley. Your symptoms sound more and more like my own. I get the gurgling too...occasionally, but I get it. My bra started bothering me again today too. I'm sitting in a recliner right now and it feels like I have a small balloon inflated in my upper left ab. It's not actually painful, just doesn't feel normal. I'm going back to the gastro to maybe have an endoscopy or colonoscopy (haven't made the appt. yet). I just want to know what's going on inside and rule out anything serious. If I hear anything noteworthy I'll let you know.
Hi mommy11ks, My gastro recommended a CT Scan, but my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Said I have to have a sono first (?????). I've had Xrays, but they didn't reveal anything. I spoke with an advice nurse who suggested I get an endoscopy, says it reveals more than sonos. My symptoms have been going on for about 5-6 months too. They're a little more pronounced than they were at first, but still not extremely painful. I just want the sensation to go away, doesn't feel normal. Any discomfort during your endo?
Exactly. I try to tell everyone that more than anything it is just really uncomfortable...not terribly painful The bra thing especially. But if it ever is painful it is at the end of the day when I am sitting or laying in bed. If I clench my side or try to hold it close to me it seems to help a bit. And for times when it has been really bad an icepack has helped to relieve the sensation.
And in response to your question for mommy11ks about the endosocopy-i also had one and it was a breeze. Last thing I remember was the doctor spraying something into my throat and then having me bite down on something (i think). Then I woke up in recovery, went home and slept for a few hours.
Pamela,
I had a sono in the emergency room but not a CT Scan yet. The endo was not bad. They knock you out for it. Still feel like I have a sore throat every once in a while and it has been a few weeks. I hear you about the sensation. It is a daily thing now and I hate it. I did read something on here about calcium and magnesium defiency since the Zantac can deplete that and I have not had milk for 2 months and think I am lactose intolerant. I tired taking cal and mag last night and felt a little better when I woke up but a few hours later back to the same. (with dry mouth and headache too) I will keep trying and let you know. It would be great to find a simple cure!!! Good luck
I have the same discomfort on left side under rid cage and pain in lower back..Im having a ct scan on Thurs of this week, they have done xrays, ultra sounds, blood tests and everything has came back neg......I'm getting very tired of the discomfort myself.....It seems to not be as bad when lying down at night.... I will post the results of my ct scan when i get them back.... I also had a endo, results came back neg..
Laury It appears that there is no fast answer to the problem of discomfort on left side under rib cage, i just had a ct scan with neg results...... not sure where to go from here..... anyone that has a answer, i would love to hear from you........ Thanks in advance...
Hi all,
I have been experiencing this sort o fdiscomfort for months now and had a Ultrasound Just today whichwas all negative except gallstones over the right side!!
I dont exactly get pain like some of you guys ...just discomfort in the diaphram and like something is gurgling and patrooding out (when it is'nt)...worse in the evening altho mild via the day and sometimes nothing at all???? I'm fine stood upbut soon as I sit down bend over etc that is when it starts.
WHY cant anyone come upwith a solution for this??? Do we have to live our days out with such discomfort? I agree with ALL the comments about being worried if this is something sinister ???
Please let us know if anyone gets any relief from ANY treatments that will help.:-(
On one hand, it is so so SO nice to have found people who get this strange and hard to describe feeling that something is not right within, but at the same time it is so maddening that we have found no answers. The last test I had (upper endoscopy) showed nothing abnormal. I've basically stopped seeing doctors because none seem to care to dig deeper unless it involves a medicinal solution. I have tried simplifying my diet. I went gluten free two separate times-the first for about 6 weeks, the second for maybe 9 weeks-and that has not seemed to help.
Hello everyone!
This feeling of discomfort on the left side below the rib cage as if something is sticking out -- well I had that feeling for the first time this morning!! This was probably due to me eating some outdated cream of chicken (my fault I know, I thought since it was sealed in the can it was okay). I took 1 ibuprofen and it's 4 hours later -- the discomfort has decreased but there's still a little bit of discomfort but not as bad as before...When I take the 2nd ibuprofen (in which you take 1 ibuprofen every 4 hours), I think I'll be okay. I'll keep you all posted!
hi I seem to have the same symptons it feels like someone has inserted a small ball inside me on my left side just under my ribs I have had two ultra sound scans an MRI scan and a bone scan several blood tests but all came back negative the only thing that showed was that I had diverticultis which I am assured would not cause these symptons
Hi, I was just wondering how you have got on with you post re: lower rib cage pain, lower back pain and into breast. I am experiencing the EXACT same problems and even though your post was some time ago, I was wondering if you have had some sort of conclusion into your problem. Hope you are feeling well again!
Hi there,
So I just kinda had enough pain just walking home from school today that I finally typed my pain symptoms into google. This is the first posting I looked at. And my God, I have exactly the same pain as described so many times by everyone else here.
I am a 24 yr old Male Caucasian, Skinny, 166 lbs, 6' 4".
For me, it started about two to three months ago. I used to get searing pain in my left abdomen, right below the left rib cage. On one occasion I actually had a bulge that raised up my left rib to be about a cm to an inch higher than the right rib cage (when looking down my own chest).
I lately have been getting just a relative pain now in my front left abdomen and it is bringing soreness and aches to all of my lower front and back left ribcage.
I also feel that there is a bulge when I sit down, sometimes when I sleep on one side or the other I can feel it. Almost as if there is a small ball or egg shaped object inside my ribcage and therefore when I sit, I feel as though I am having to "bulge" over something.
Exhaling my breath brings pain, I then end up only taking small breathes and then when I do need to breath deep every few minutes, theres the pain!
I also experience in the gut, a pain that feels like I just got hit with a spoon.
I have been to the doctor, and the first thing he did was put me on Zantac, and proposed the idea about the muscle tearing and the stomach popping out and then resting back in, but could remain twisted. Or he said it could be a bacteria of some sort
I have had a urine test, poop test, and have given my blood to the labcoats. That was a month ago, and I have been busy since, so I plan on visiting in the next month,
I will keep yall posted
F*ck this sucks, no?!

Holy c**p, I literally just five minutes ago typed in my symptoms....I have the pain, discomfort. Had a endoscopy a couple of years ago, nothing really, colonoscopy showed diverticulosis....once in awhile that flairs up, maybe twice in 3 years. Has anyone discovered what this is? I usually stick to a vegetarian diet, but do eat meat occasionally. It seems to bother me more when I eat crappier food....but have had it happen with just vegetables and fruit diet. Mine sometimes will finish with an horrible attack of diarrhea....I sometimes wonder if its bacteria myself, I am super vigilant, maybe that's my problem...;)
