does weight lifting at 14 years old stunt your growth

Hi everybody. I am 14 years old and I weight lift three times a week. I only “use” weights that I can manage comfortably. But, my mum keeps telling me that it will stunt my growth which is really annoying. If I do get enough sleep, eat healthy food and lift only weights I’m comfortable with, is there a chance I will be stunting my growth??? I would really appreciate any replies!!! Thanks.

As far as you are using appropriate weights that can be handled, there would be no problems but better to have a trainer for your guidance.
Hey, guys. I'm 14 and for 7months I trained doing push ups and resist bands. Since last week, I've started weightlifting. The pretraining made me strong enuf, but I must kno: is 20 pound dumbells 1 per hand too much at my age? I feel challenged, but not overwhelmed or hurting. I lift em about 200 times a day, 3days a week. 100 for biceps and chest, and 100 for triceps and chest in the bench press position, kinda. Dunno what to call the second one.
Now, using light weights, good form and repetitions you will get the rewards of being fit and strengthing your muscles without side effects.
bruh just eat and do pushups and u be strong and big im 14 and 130 all bone mass from drinking milk and doing pushups and crunches

after you have lifted your weights you should allways do a basic stretch off i myself am 14 and do weights and all ways stretch off afterwards
I'm 20 and started when I was about 14 or so, stunting your growth is possible if you injure yourself or exhaust yourself on a regular basis and are unable to repair/grow efficiently. For that age, doing exercises with your body weight will suffice (ie. pushups, pullups etc.) which if you vary them around can be pretty tricky in themselves, not to mention theyre compound exercises (that work several muscle groups) which will be useful when you start weight training. If you absolutely must start weight training, yeah start low weights but high repititions - always with safe/good form. Don't get injured. And its probably not something you should do too often, just eat heaps, 2-3 times a week if weights. Try to stretch and get that balance of aerobic exercise in as well. I believe the occasional safe weight lifting and a good balance let me keep growing like i should've. Though I strongly advise you to do pushups not only for getting really thick, building endurance and a good basis for your muscles to grow upon but also cause you're parents would probably rest a lot easier. (At 14 concentrated exercises like bicep curls will do very little in terms of how much effort you put in) Trust me, I started off doing 20-50 pushups a day, real slow eventually i could do like 150-250 pushups a day (about sets of 50) then i started adding resistance (ie. books/weights on your back) and changing my hand position and just varying the pushups to make them harder. It worked for me, and I know it'll work for others. Get thick and strong within a few months. GL

If you are 14, maybe now you are 15 and you haven't get much taller just go to the gym because it may be your genes.
If you do not squat correctly then yes, but its better to do less weight and do it correctly, rather then doing more weight and doing it wrong. Always keep back straight as possible.
Im doing 10-15 reps a set. Thats what one would classify 'high' right?
