I need to get stronger for my basketball. If I were to lift 10lbs curl ups on each arm will that affect my growth

No studies have shown that teens from 13+ who trains proper will affect their height

That's weird, I'm in 7th grade and they practically force everyone to lift. The guys do it the most but they also make us girls lift too. Our school is in to that kind of stuff. Is that bad?

When I say they force us I just meant it's part of our required everyday workout we have. Some days we'll bench, some days well squat, or other stuff too. It's not like they make us do heavy heavy stuff. Only if you can. (Fun fact: there are some kids that can't even pick up the bar, which is 45 pounds...)
