Texas tests mom and baby? Or just baby if mom tests positive?

How long was it before you gave birth that you did stop?!

I smoked marijuana during my pregnancy and both me and my child tested positive after delivery. Marijuana was the only drug that i ever used and the doctors where aware of it during the whole pregnancy. One doctor even told me that it was fine since there was no other kind of drug use and marijuana was the only thing that would help my sickness. After my baby was born they ran all the tests they usually do for development and all that. she was not showing signs of withdrawals and she met all her goals.. 100% healthy baby. But since we both tested positive the hospital still contacted CPS. I didn't smoke after I gave birth so when CPS tested me i was completely clean. My case was dropped about 3 months later. It is possible for THC to enter the baby's system through the uterus. It could have been due to the amount I smoked or how often I smoked but it is possibe the baby can test positive for THC.

You are absolutely right and the last thing you want is child services in your life I gave birth to my son on Suboxone and even though it was prescribed they still called dyfs and tried to roadblock me in all different ways

Same sitch... but I only took a couple puffs a few times for the nausea i dont anymore too scared they'll see it in meconium im on suboxone still so they have to test anyway.. Plus im gonna breastfeed again....

Hi there. I'm in Texas as well. I'm 33 weeks and plan on quitting smoking by the end of this week. What happened when you delivered? I can't seem to find anything useful for the state of Texas online. Please & thank you.

Although I don't encourage or support pregnant drug users, socially and/recreationally or daily dependent... Whatever the reason why, I do know that majority of the people who knowingly use during pregnancy aren't doing it to be careless or selfish or because they want to hurt their child, yes I'm sure there are those who actually are careless selfish and even some who unfortunately do engage in drug use trying to hurt their unborn child....but the vast majority, especially the ones on these sites looking for information and seeking info and insight, most the time are very good loving people some even mothers already that just have problems that no one but them can understand. Shame on us for lashing out and lecturing the mother to be who is at least better late than never seeking some help or guidance because they do care, and we wonder why babies end up sold illegally to horrible homes and or thrown in dumpsters and or bodies of water to just suffer until they are either saved or rescued hopefully! Maybe if society was more pro helping the mothers to overcome their problems and or addictions when they seek out anyone's advice or direction instead of lecturing them like a child on something they most likely already have been living with the guilt of their actions until they got the courage to sought out the littlest help finally and thank god they did becauby yes the babies definitely are the innocent and deserve more than a fighting chance but the woman also deserve a chance as well, if they are looking for help they deserve to get all the help and support anyone around is willing to lend out without making them wish they never would have stepped up to begin with, they are not worthless, they are important too! Seriously, elementary school, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. No one needs your 2 cents, from your perfect, never made a mistake in my life, got all the time in the world to lecture people who are messing up in life, because I have always made the right choices every single time in my life, and don't have a clue what a real problem or a tough like really is like, nor do they care, because they wouldn't do that. Thinking they may have it pretty damn close to all when their own damn husbands probably can't stand them, but they don't divorce because that's a sin if course so cheating on your wives is definitely the best solution, I mean as long as they aren't bragging about it and ruining families let's stay in a miserable life everyone truly hates while we bash the people below us who really are going through as much as you just aren't pretending to be fake about it. Everyone is a sinner and in their own ways. No one has the right to say their sins are less than another. Keep your mouth shut if you're too perfect to comment nicely or if you're to unhappy with your own life to stay out of others so this makes your pathetic self feel better about your own sad life. Seriously though. One smile could save a life and one sentence could send someone overboard that you don't even know. Fix your life if you're not happy and if you think you truly are perfect, god help you please, but keep your mouth shut if you can't say anything to be nice or supportive, just keep it shut! I swear at the moment I wish anyone would do or say something talking down to any other person, Idc if I know them or not, because I now have the need to tell someone who thinks their sh*t don't smell where their place really is. What a sad sad humanity.

I'm sure your baby will more than likely be just fine, I don't have all the facts or amounts or how often or even the studies if I did have all the facts, but Ik you care enough to at least get educated now and that's something and it matters and you matter so I hope you don't let the few people who are obviously perfect out here with all the time on their hands to judge others even bother you, just think about where you're going, and who you are doing it for now! And those people will be brought to their own justice before they even expect it!

I'm kind of in the same spot (I see this post is old but I'm sure the same rules) I have taken a few hits here and there I tested positive my fiRst two appointments and she knew I told her I'm 23 weeks now but still have negative urine tests. So if it's goes back that far I'm scared it will test positive I'm not smoking anymore at all now same with the 3-4 times a week but it was only 2 hits each time I'm a nervous wreck too

That's funny bc my doctors at upmc said smoking weed for morning sickness is a safe and reliable way to curb bad cases of HG and its safer than the drug zofran is to an unborn baby and it's safer than not keeping anything down if it's what works. If it's safer than a prescribed medicine where is the real child abuse? Get with the times and do research on how it's not physical abuse to a child if it's been proven safer and more effective. It's only against the law bc of marijuana propaganda bc of all the money drug companies make by pushing out drugs that actually do cause birth defects. And you cps people really consider a safer alternative to other drugs that don't even work for HG. And marijuana isn't more harmful than cigarette smoking during pregnancy but I don't see Cyp being called for cigarette smoking and calling that child abuse. I also don't see you calling antidepressant use abuse even though weed is safer than SSRI antidepressanta and a better alternative to deal with stress and anxietyand depression brought on by some pregnancy hormones and some women can't deal with the depression. But weed is a safer alternative and more and more studies are proving that. So for you to call that child abuse is assinine. It's not crack or heroin or meth so drop the stupid claims of it being child abuse bc some of us chose to medicate with weed bc of the actual lower risks of the sides effects that keep coming out about all these other meds you dummies considered more ok than weed that obviously aren't. Educate yourself before you call the wrong perspn the abusive mother.
