I feel the same way. The left side of my body head to toe has been numb for a while. Have you ever been on Paxil or other SSRIs and Benzos? They cause this issue I think. Since last week, I have been experiencing numbness and burning at the left side of my tongue.
Interesting. I am a 56yr male and I had a root canal done on my upper right side on 12/31/2012. On 01/07/2013 while at my stressful job, my blood pressure (that is always perfect) shot up to 174/103 and the left side of my face went numb. My doctor ordered an ultrasound of carotid arteries and an MRI of my brain; both are normal. I really thought that I had experienced a mini-stroke. I probably would have if I didn't take 81mg of aspirin a day. The numbness and high bp only happens when I am dealing with my overbearing boss.
On New Year's Day 2013, I woke up with the left half of my head and face numb. No tingliing, just slgightly numb. The night before NY eve at the next door neighbors we had drank red wine, but not excessive.
I had notice some numbness in my left leg, foot, and arm for a couple week prior to Jan 1. I have no other symptoms, no weakness, no loss of other senses, no headaches. The numbness was worst in the morning. I have no problem working out or running etc. cardiovascularly, I am great.
On Jan 4, I went to the ER and got a Cat Scan and electrolytes and everything was A-OK. I laid off alcohol for a week and took Ibuprofen and it seemed to be going away. Then Jan 15, I had one glass of wine with my pasta. The next morning my face was extremely numb.
I saw my regular GP that day and then a neurologist today, I am scheduled for MRIs next week. The neurologist's best guess is a slight stroke in motor cortex or pinch nerve.
I am 50 yr old male. I have regular ( thorough checkups), low blood press, average chloerestrol, maintain excellent health and exercise, and no bad history any kind. I have never smoked or done illegal drugs.
I have seen several discussions on this site with others speafking of the same symptoms as mine. Does anyone have any insight on what this could be? This condition is worsen by alcohol, even small quanities. Any good ideas are welcomed.
So what were u actually diagnosed with? Your symptoms sound very much like mine. I go for an MRI next week. Im so tired of feeling this way, I dont know what else to do, they refuse to give me any meds, antibiotics- which if mine is an inner ear infection. I did have a bad spell of vertigo a few weeks ago, which i swear came on from a heavy dose of vitamin D, now its constant dizzy, like im in a dream state, sinus pressure, numb face, my ears OMG i cant even tell you how thats been, like a dead space kinda noise-rinings ALL the time.

I do not have a diagnosis yet. I supposed to have the MRI in two days and then a few days to get the results.
Please keep me posted and I wish you luck! Everything started with me when I went to my ENT for a check up(I have nodules on my thyroid) not taking any meds, just reg check ups on that. She done blood work, seen that my Vit D was very low-which I found out later by my Neurologist that its common this time of year in NYState. Anyway my ENT gave me a script for Vit D, so high that I could only take it once a week for four weeks. The first time I took it, the next day I was in the ER with vertigo. Few days went by I THOUGHT I was ok. That next week I took the 2nd dose of Vit D, next day I was spinning, dizzy, confused thinking. Went to my primary which was a waste of a co-pay. A week later still feeling the same way, even worse because now I am afraid to go to sleep for some reason, probably afraid of the MAJOR Spins from the vertigo. 3 nights ago 3am, I wake up to numb legs, face and I started to shake out of control I was still aware and was thinking normal. Rushed back to the ER, they tell me my blood work was fine and maybe I just had a panic attack, which I have never had before. That day they got me in to see a Neurologist, from everything I told him, he said it seems to him that its either lyme disease or MS, so he has me going for an MRI next week. But now reading about pinched nerves, nerves etc...I am not thinking back, I have never had any injuries at all. But I have had servere back pain the last few months, and it seemed to dissapear once I took the Vitamin D. I am talking really bad back pains for months, then since all of this happening I havent noticed my back bothering me at all. I really cant wait to find out what is really going on, could be a number of things just hittig me at once, out of no where all together. I do notice when I take ANY kind of OTC medication(tylenol-advil) my face really becomes hot and numb, sometimes when I eat as well this happens. Just so tired of these feelings, Oh and one more thing. I all of a sudden have this awful fear of driving, which really bothers me, I just bought a new car and its sitting in the drive way :o( Im afraid to drive, one day last week I took my daughter to school , got about 1/4 mile from home, stopped at a red light and vertigo kicked in and I have truly been freaked out to drive ever since.
** I forgot to add that when this first happend my primary gave me Flonase, and at first I thought it was working, I do have alot of post nasal, sinus pressure. There are only certain times I can taste and smell.
I too suffer from sinus allegeries, I take Musenix D daily. I did suspect that the sulfides in the red wine may be a factor. But i never had a reaction like this before with wine or alcohol. And the fact that its one sided of the face, etc
Very sorry to hear about your driving situation. I wish you the best. And thanks for answering my post. I will keep you updated.
You may contact directly you like.
No prob, will do!
Wondering how everything is going?
I read on another site the other day someone with the same issues. Someone suggested they start taking Iron pills. I did the same, at the rate ALL the Dr's that I see must think I'm insane, but I know what I am feeling. Its only been 48 hrs of me taking the Iron, and I can feel a difference, not sure if its ALL in my head but I'll try Almost ANYTHING at this point. This just doesnt feel right. I am also using Flonase-since I SWEAR this is all sinus related. Also taking vit d, vit b and folic acid. I am going nex week to get my Cortisol level checked.
Yes, I have intermittent left sided numbness. It feels like I have novacaine on board.
Heavy metal toxicities was my diagnosis for numbness on the left side of my face. It turns out that my liver is fine but my liver function is not fine and my body doesn't detox very well and so I have been saving up toxins all my life until my body starting going haywire. A hair analysis shows up heavy metals, like lead, mercury, silver, etc, and also the lack of necessary nutrients in your body spanning a few months. The diagnosis was only found because I developed other symptoms when stressed such as tremors, speech (tongue tied or slight stuttering), sensitivities, muscle aches, hair loss and so forth.
You mentioned hair analysis. What type of tests were done to find the heavy metals in your system?
