It can take men 20 days to show a positive reading

Chlamydia can be contracted by animals particularly cats. 30% of kittens are born with it. First of all, you must find out how you were tested and how your partner was tested. It could be urine, blood, swab, or DNA. (My guess based on recent DNA test.) I swabbed negative but, DNA was positive. The nurse practitioner said the DNA will show any results of contact with that bacteria in the last 30 days. I had sex with someone who went to the same clinic with me and on the same day. He tested negative to Chlamydia. The lesson is that it is a very slow growing bacteria. I would not recommend foregoing your relationships over a bacterial infection. Women are made to have more moisture (which grows bacteria) more so than a male. Remember your chemistry classes? These techs are looking at shapes under a microscope. There is a huge margin of error between an A student and a C student. Please choose love. Love believes the best and it never gives up.

I am shocked at this posts because I have been tested several times but the only time I test positive is when I a solibant(spelling)I 2004 after I broke up with my ex,one year after I tested positive for chlamydia, asked him he said he wasn`t infected, wasn`t sure coz we were`t together.Got a divorce form my ex husband and 6 months later I test positive??doesn`t make any sense because I tested negative in Mya of this year when I went for my yearly physical,am glad I came across this posts because I was lost and depressed.I have taken some antibiotics but will retest too, this is really confusing

like everyone else I just tested positive too. I don't understand because my husband and I have been together for 4 years, we have a 2 year old son together and I am 5 months pregnant. I don't think it's wishful thinking th we haven't been with anyone else. I believe that he is very faithful to me and I know I've never cheated but after getting a positive result I can't help but to wonder which is driving me crazy. I am a registered nurse there for very familiar with the medical field but I'm so glad I came across this website because it's really put me at ease. The next step is for both of us to go and get tested.

Something is def fishy here! 2 months ago at my first prenatal appt I was neg for chlamydia and pos for uti. I took antibiotics for uti and now show pos for chlamydia. My bf ended up confessing to cheating. If he turns up neg that is going to cause probs because now he will think I cheated which I have not!

Hi All,

I've got a similar story too. But if possible mine is slightly weirder.

2 months ago I found out my boyfriend had had an affair which had been over for 9 months already. As a result I went to take an STD test. It took a while for the appointment took place etc. but I finally got my results back and it turns out I've got chlamydia.

My boyfriend got tested too (different doctor) and he tested negative for chlamydia and the other woman has tested negative for chlamydia too. The fact that she's got a negative result obviously doesn't mean a lot, because he could have picked it up from yet someone else. Also, I have seen the sheet with my boyfriends results, so I know for a fact that he isn't lying about that.

I would also like to point out that I haven't been cheating on him, otherwise I wouldn't be asking these questions here. Actually, even if I had been cheating on him, it still doesn't make any sense that he doesn't have it and I do.

Also, it's not that I brought it into the relationship, about 6 months after we got together, I had an STD test and I tested negative for everything.

I'm not entirely sure that I think I've got a false positive though, because I did have the complaints and symptoms that come along with chlamydia.

Now I've got many many questions for the different possible scenarios:

   A. If he realised he had chlamydia and decided to cure it, surely I would have given it back to him? We have sex about once a day so it's not like it the odds of him staying clean after having cured himself in secret are in any way credible.

   B. If he had it and it cured itself in him (I've read here & there that it can just resolve itself sometimes), surely we'd still be passing it back and forth, so why did his results come out negative?

   C. If there was a screw up at the lab, how do we find that out?

   D. Could this be down to the different procedures? I had to pee in a cup whereas they took a swab from him. Is that somehow    related?

I could really do with some help here, we're trying to find some clarity in these results, but it's doing nothing but confusing us more.

Thanks for the help and good luck to everyone out there!

so i am pregnant going on 3 mths and i got checked for this chlamydia infection and they gave me results of positive both me and my husband were there and we were so surprised of what we were hearing and i of course know that theres no way it could have been me i met my husband since age of 16 and have been with him ever since im going on 21 now hes been my first and last and well to my understanding i was his first too so i dont know what to think. its so hard to even think he could have cheated on me he swears to me that hes never cheated on me or even slept with anyone else and i want to believe it because weve never had those type of problems. so now the only thing was that he hast been tested they just said that if i tested positive he was more than likely infected too and so he even told me doctor to do me a retest and thats in process right now and i really pray too god that those results were a big error because we are seperated and i miss my husband and everything we have and now thanks too all u guys posts i feel alot more confident and hoping i have better results because according to drs one of us cheated and im hoping thats not even possible i jjust pray to god that something went wrong and everything gets fixed and our marriage works out again and specially for our baby on the way thanks everyone.

It is possible for a male to have negative results and not know that they have chlamydia, and pass it on to you. I have heard of several cases where a woman could also be a carrier and not know it. It's sometimes hard to figure out who gave it to who but as long as both partners are faithful and get treated nothing else should 'pop up' a man can carry this for several months and not know it. Sometimes the urine tests can come back non conclusive and lead to a false negative.

This happened with my first pregnancy. I tested positive for chlamydia. However, I took no medication for it and my next 4 tests throughout the last three years came out negative. Well I'm pregnant again and sure enough my test for chlamydia just came back positive AGAIN. Very confusing. I'm definitely under the assumption that there is such a thing as a false positive for chlamydia during pregnancies.

Similar situation, Im searching for answers desperately. I was + and my boyfriend was negative. I have been cheated on by two exes so im sure I got it from one of them. I beleive the boyfriend im with now was faithful just wish he believed me. All he keeps saying is I cant be with you because you had chlamydia. I regret telling him because for no reason before I knew I was positive he had trust issues.

I've had the exact same thing happen to me. I had been with my boyfriend 1 year and a half and was tested 3 months ago and came back negative. Last month, I was experiencing yeast infection like symptoms and went to the clinic for them to prescribe me something other that Canesten (as Canesten didn't work).. The stronger stuff helped relieve my symptoms but just 4 days later I got a phone call saying I was positive for chlamydia!!! I immediately accused my boyfriend but he did not accuse me. We broke up over this because I did not trust him because, well, I had chlamydia!!! However, a month later he finally went to his clinic to get his results and they were negative. I think it's kind of strange that all our stories are female positive cases, and all our men are negative. Maybe we have false positives, or maybe they have false negatives? I would recommend to the next person this happens to, don't just to conclusions and also don't take your antibiotics right away, get tested AGAIN. Cause if they come back negative the second time, then you know :)
