are you a diabetic i hear high sugers can cause tinnius
You are not alone. I have had this problem of loud heartbeats in ear and doctors do not seem to care.
I had similar whooshing issues and sometimes heartbeat-synchronized whooshing. I got several diagnosis including minnears disease. I talked my ENT into giving me T-Tubes because i have horrific pain on flights and travel a lot for work. The T-tubes put an end to the whooshing! No one expected that. I recently saw a different ENT in the practice who can't fathom why i have tubes when there was no clinical eustacian tube dysfunction. I told him I didn't really care all i know is i got the tubes, the incessant sound stopped. I was only seeing him because it started up again and it turned out the tube was blocked. So to me this isn't rocket science. Blocked tube/no-tube= whoosh, Tube= no whoosh. So yes your books/studies/experience may have no record of this but there's a first for everything. Perhaps no one else has been as pushy about trying tubes as an adult as i was???
Check out Hypersensetivity Disorders
I've been there and still there being. A registered nurse make it even more frustrating. Mine started with clicking, continuous popping in my ears. I've seen 3 ENTs, cardiology wore monitors. 2 PCPs, been to ER mitilple times, 2 brain MRI 's, seen the endocrinologist and gynecologist. I'm sick of the search. I do have high blood pressure, and sinus tachycardia(fast rate). Oh yea and I've been to the psychiatrist as well. The diagnosis has gone from tinnitus to spasms in the inner ear from the ligament that holds the 3 tiny ear bones. Treatment is surgery with Botox well no thank you. Now it has migrated to hearing my heart beat with my ear phones. I did have a carotid US 3 years ago so I think I will check it again. I have decided to write the Mayo clinic as I'm getting no where. I wanted to encourage you to continue looking this is our bodies and nothing is by chance it's a sign/symptom of something. Peace be to u!
I got the same problem ? I had a cat scan and got diagnose with TMJ .
Hi guys hope you could help! So I’ve had 4 ear infections in the space of 3 months and I’ve been to the doctors & he said I had swimmers ear, I noticed when I layed down that I could hear a heartbeat sensation next to my ear but it felt like it was a vain? I am going to the ENT in a couple of weeks I just hope it goes because it’s so annoying and I’m in so much pain!
I cupped my hand over my ear and it relieved it. When I took my hand away it came back but not as strong as before. Pretty cool though. At least some temporary relief!
please keep us posted on your results from CT Scan and other things you try. I have all the same symptoms as you have for 3 years now and cannot get any relief.
Not sure if you could communicate with me via email if so that would be great the fact that you are an RN and so persistent is great. I feel like the drs don’t listen or either don’t know what it is.
Thanks!
Angela

I have this exact problem except only when i'm listening with headphones on my right ear. When I start to hear the thumping in my left ear I just switch the headphones to my left ear and it stops but it's so annoying. I also listen at a super low volume too since i'm at work and don't want others to hear anything.
Any further updates?
