Ok guys, I have a quick fix. Go to your local walmart and find the Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain. There are several colors to choose from to match your lip color. When this is applied, it doesn't look like lipstick and it hides the fordyce spots. Boom!!! I have tried everything else- purchasing and using that stupid product from that scam fordyce website, going to the dermatologist, tazorac cream, hyfrecation, exfoliation, trying to pop them and using a needle. So no one can tell me I haven't tried. But I just put this Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain on, and it's like I took a time machine back to early 2012 when I didn't have any fordyce spots. I hope all of you consider doing this. My username is 1 Wish because I was always wishing for a way to eliminate or hide these spots and now I can say my wish came true!!! Btw, for everyone reading this, I am a 28 year old very athletc male. So guys, don't be worried about it looking like lipstick, because it doesn't!!! Do this and fully enjoy the rest of your lives like how it was meant to be. Don't forget to smile. :)

It's good to hear something is working for someone. Most people here stopped posting. I wish it's cause they found a cure, but most likely it's because they gave up on treatments.

Yeah you try and you fail so many times it came to the point where I looked in the mirror and said, "what are you gonna do about it." I even tried the lip color tattoo, which worked for about a week, but then the spots came back. I bought the Ravlon Colorburst Balm Stain for about 6 dollars and it worked so well I couldn't believe it. It doubles as a chapstick as well, I've heard. But it's so easy to apply, it's just like a chapstick. I first thought that the color would be off, but it blends really nicely. I guess I'm still in shock that I found a way in how to deal with my fordyce spots for good.

just a quick update. The tretinoin cream and lactic acid has had a big effect on the appearance of them. It did seem to get rid of them entirely at one point. But then I eased up on the creams and then they started to come back. It's still possible that some have gone away though, but I just can't know. I'm going to keep with this treatment and hopefully it'll work. This combination probably has the potential to turn my lips into scabs if I keep at this hard enough, maybe then the spots will leave for good. We'll see.

Hey SSS, knock it off with ruining your lips!! What you are doing is not going to help, trust me, I'm sorry but you're wasting your time. If it comes back, just like you said it did, why keep doing it??? Go get a lip balm stain for 6 bucks.

Hey 1 Wish, thanks for the information. And regarding stains, i'm curious as to which exact color you purchased, as when i went to the store it seemed they all looked too bold. Also, can these stains be left on overnight and reapplied when the color begins to fade...or are you required to remove it every night before bed as it could cause severe dryness or other complications?

I purchased the Romantic color for Revlon. I know they look too bold, but I wanted to try anyway. I just put on the lip stain balm on the spots when I go out. Why would you keep the stain on overnight? Are you trying to look good for the people you see in your dreams? Just wash your face and reapply it in the morning or whenever you need to. Even though I don't think it matters if you always have the lip stain on, and remember, it's essentially a lip balm, so why would it cause any dryness? If anything, your lips would be more moisturized.

Also, the more you apply the lip stain balm to your lips in one setting, the darker the color will be, so adjust accordingly. The Romantic color for Revlon works for my lips if I just go over my lips about 2-3 times in one application. If I apply more than that, and my lips come out darker. So go figure it out.

another update. The combination I am using has made my spots 90% invisible. Not even when I stretch my lip and look extremely close to a mirror can I see them. The only time I can see them is with a very high-wattage heat lamp, and even then they aren't obvious at all. The issue though is I want to shed the core of the spots as surely when I discontinue the creams an amount will come back to some extent otherwise. Recently I have added ichthammol ointment to the treatment, after just 1 night it has made the spots more visible and closer to the surface (feels bumpier). I assume this is a good thing, as the lactic acid and tretinoin will be able to shed it easier now. Hopefully this works and I can write up in detail the entire process.

Do you guys think the fordyce spots on lips are more noticeable when the lips are dry or moist from lip balm. I put blistex lip medex now and am going to work and my lips are currently moist. Embarrasing it's a meeting with over 50 people present.

Mine were less noticeable when my lips were dry. another update: *Sigh* I don't know how to feel. I have achieved basically full invisibility of these hundreds of spots with lactic acid and tretinoin cream. But I can't seem to get the core of them to pop out. Maybe tretinoin cream will have to be something I remain on for a while, maybe forever. They look like I could squeeze and pop them, but when I do nothing comes out. Currently I've gone back to another tactic of constantly rubbing at my lips with jojoba oil in an attempt to dissolve the spots out, but alas I just have raw lips now. I'm 5x happier because their appearance is gone, but I'm also still concerned about using tretinoin on my lips as a permanent thing, and also knowing that they are in fact still there but in hiding. When it comes to physical procedures, my dermatologist warned me that co2 laser could cause permanent scarring and cracks, and a month to heal, and even then it might not work. If I'm not able to use tretinoin on my lips safely on a long-term basis then I may have to try out the co2 laser. When I go back I'll ask him if there are other options I can try.

Hi SSS! I'm going to try tretinoin this winter so I bought a tretinoin 0,05 cream. What strength on tretinoin are u using for your lips? I think 0,05 could be a little too strong but i will try it and see what happens. I'll keep posting here if I make any progress!

Cheers / Karl

Hi Karlsson. 0.05% was the strength I was prescribed which worked for me. You should only need to apply a thin layer.

However, I tried using tretinoin cream on it's own, and it did not seem to be very effective without also having 8% lactic acid cream beforehand.
My dermatologist today explained that the lactic acid sheds that first layer of skin which allows the tretinoin to get in deeper.

I showed him before and after photos today and he was pretty thrilled. He said that was the most dramatic effect with fordyce spots he has seen yet.

Of course though, I stopped that treatment, and within 2 weeks they came back. But it's good to know I have something that works, and I assume it would work for most people here too.

8% lactic acid cream, 1-2 times a day, and then 0.05% tretinoin at night.

also that previous post was me woops. Anyway, also... He said to me that there are always risks when doing anything physical (like co2 laser), but he seemed to respect the way I felt about this. I hope to god this is the right decision. In under 2 months time I'm going back to have some other things done and at the same time we're going to try co2 laser on one very small area in the corner of my mouth. This is to test if it works, and how it heals. After this heals, we will evaluate what to do next. I imagine if it works, we would then try a larger area and see how that goes. And if that also heals well with none coming back, then it'll basically be the whole upper lip. woh. This time he warned me that the sebaceous glands on the lips do help to moisturise the lips and thus if we go ahead with co2 laser they might end up being permanently quite dry afterwards. I don't know if this is true or not, but I guess it's a risk. It's not really any different than if I was using tretinoin cream for the rest of my life. :/
