oh my! my son seems to have the same problem!! he's now 3 years old, he's had this problem for 4 months now. Ive always loved bananas since they are delicious and filled with potassium, now i must feed my son with melon, since it too is rich in potassium. I wonder, with the pains, they nly seem to be releived after he goes to the washroom, but during that time period he seems to have trouble with it. Is it normal for him to have truoble digesting it? Especially at his age? Should i be worried?%-)

This thing with the bananas started happening with me after I had my daughter 17 yrs ago. Sorry but it only gets worse over time. Now it happens when I eat raw tomatoes and occasionally happens when I eat watermelon. Whats up with this. I wonder if it has anything to do with the potassium in them. Weird!!

I have the same issue. Ate bananas all my life until as an adult, in my 20's, I discovered that raw bananas caused bad stomach pain. I now know that banana bread is a culprit as well. It has become worse with age.

Eating bananas give you a stomach ache if the banana is not ripe enough. Test it out.

I just thought i google this query as ive notice in the last yr or so ive suffered with stomache craps from bananas, im in my early twenties and dont recal having problems as a child, loved banana sandwhiches, so it also turns out from studying hairdressing in my teens I discovered I have an allergy to latex after doing the standard tests as i got contact dermatitus on my hands. So it seems the two are related .. makes sense. about to risk banana bread.!

Having the same issue.  I didn't pinpoint the problem until today, though, that the problem was bananas!  For the last week i've had a banana for breakfast and every single day i had horrible stomach pains until i ultimately ended up in the washroom for about 15 minutes taking care of business! What a horrible experience this has been.  I never had an issue when i was younger but now i'm in my mid 20's and my body seems to react to certain foods very differently!

I read somone else's post on here that suggested drinking water to make it easier to digest, it worked for me. I ate a banana this morning, smh, my stomach was killing me ever since. I was in bed in a fetal position for the last hour, read the post, drank some water, and now the cramping has eased up. So I'm looking online and read that its either an allergy to them, and intolerance to them ( similar to being lactose intolerant) or something more serious depending on the symptoms. I only experienced cramping and bloating.

ALKA SELTZER. I get the same pains after eating bananas, broccoli, green apples, or Mug root beer. The pain usually kicks in about 15-30 minutes after eating and lasts about 2-3 hours. Both my mother and I started experiencing the stomach pain after eating these foods in our mid-20s. I usually avoid these foods, but if I absolutely crave something or didn't notice it in my food, I'd drink some alka seltzer and the pain diminishes within 15-30 minutes.

I get intense gas pains and a sour stomach after eating raw (cooked doesnt affect me) bananas, pineapple, melons and green peppers. I use Gas X (or similar gas relief pills or gell caps)- usually 2 pills will do. Works in about 20 minutes. Although I dont have a reaction to latex in most forms I believe its responsible for some bladder infections I have experienced in the past after using condoms. I worked in the medical field and regularly used latex gloves with no effect. I wish I knew what to do to be able to eat the foods I love without this reaction at all! Good luck! BTW, mine is not an allergy but an intolerance. I dont have any other symptoms but stomach pain.

I began to have this problem in my early 20's (I'm now in my early 40's).  After eating a raw banana, I'd have cramps so bad that I'd literally have lie down and wait them out for up to a few hours.  This didn't happen in childhood or as a teenager.  I could eat raw banana's just fine.  I figured out after a few instances pretty quickly that it was the banana's.  The pain was severe enough that I cut banana's out of my diet then and there and have been good for more than 20 years.  I still buy banana's (because my kids love them), but I know that I cannot tolerate them.

Things I've noticed.  I can eat banana bread (or cake) and raw banana blended in a smoothie with no irritation.  I also don't have a problem eating kiwi or avacado, which I heard can have the same effect as eating a raw banana.  (in fact, I had 2 kiwi's today and 1 avacado yesterday without a problem)

From everything I've read, there is no fix and waiting for the banana to exit your digestive system, which it will do one way or the other, is all you can do.

I have a banana allergy. I have suffered with urticaria for years and could not figure out the cause. Allergy tests were not helpful. After several years, I started having horrible abdominal pain. I figured out it happened after eating bananas. With a little research, I found stomach pain and hives can be signs of banana allergies. I quit eating bananas, and the stomach pain went away. The hives are much better. I am not taking meds every day.

I too have just started to notice pain at the top my stomach right between my ribs after eating bananas.  I have had issues on and off for a few years and thought it had to do with my gallbladder.  I have had many different tests which have all seemed to come back normal on my gallbladder.  I just started to connect this pain with bananas.

I think You may have an allergy of banana. If you are allergic to latex then you may as well be allergic to bananas as well.
