I have also have the same pain after eating bananas.  After reading that I could have some kind of allergy to them I have found that if I take a Benadryl the pain goes away very quickly.  It's crazy...I have only had this problem in the last few years and I love bananas!!!

I get stomach pain if i eat banana right after drinking water. if i eat banana first and drink water after that, i don't get stomach pain. I also get stomach pain if i drink water first and then drink milk immediately. If i drink milk first and drink water afterword , i don't get stomach pain. if there is a gap of of half hour between drinking water and eating banana, there is no stomach pain. this is the situation for me. in my case combination of foods and order of consumption trigger the reaction.

I too noticed the similar problem. After having banana ,I had pain more like a gastric pain. But I also realized that soda drinks, cold drinks are effective in such a pain.I had tried many times and it was successful

I only experience this pain if I eat a banana then food immediately afterwards, but if I reverse that and eat food, THEN a banana, it doesn't hurt in the least. Strange...

I have noticed that when I eat a heavy meal a few minutes or even just a few hours before or after eating fruit, I get gassy and get stomach pains. If i eat a banana on an empty stomach, I never have problems. Proper food combining is key. Fruits and fat do not mix. I get REALLY gassy with those fruit and nut Larabars.

After doing some research I've come across Latex fruit syndrome. It affects us when we eat certain fruits such as banana, avocado, potato, tomato, kiwi, chestnut, walnut, passion fruit, pear, grapefruit, mushroom, bell pepper, mango, pineapple, celery, cantaloupe, apple, papaya, almond, buckwheat, fig, lettuce, peach, orange, peanut, strawberry, pepper, mustard, watermelon, bamboo shoot, carrot, coconut, apricot, loquat, peppermint, soybean, cherry, nectarine, .....

Pretty much everything it seems ;)But I get it when I eat banana, apple, orange, melon, avocado and sometimes with peppers, strawberries and celery.

I just realized bananas were the cause of some horrible gas and stomach aches I've been having lately. I tried taking Gas-x the last time I had these symptoms and it really helped. But I just want to know what it is about bananas (in understandable terms) that causes this, and if there are other foods that I should possibly avoid! Because man, the pain is just awful!

Yes that's it! It's the cold chills too! Horrible stomach cramping, about 2 hours after eating a banana, cold chills and the feeling that you just want to DIE!! What is this?? I have taken two allergy tests and I'm allergic to milk and wheat but bananas didnt show up on either test, even though they did look for them. My mom has a similar problem with melon that I don't have

So glad I am not alone in this.  My issue started at age 12 and since then I have not been able to eat ANYTHING with bananas in it.  Or dates, for that matter.  If i do i am doubled over in horrible stomach pain for two hours wishing for death. Very weird allergy.

I find that in order for me to eat bananas without getting a stomach ache, is to eat it with cereal or ice cream.  This way I czn still eat the healthy fruit and not suffer.  The structure of the banana is changed when mixed with other food. I believe the milk in the ice cream, frozen yogurt or cereal is the reason I can eat bananas this way.  Also, cooked in pancakes or banana bread is fine too.

I Just Ate a Banana and I feel VERY sick. You Are probably not allergic to Bananas, Bananas are a very strong fiber source... which if u eat one, you feel kind of sick because you did not pass it yet. Also On top of what you already ate. Thats alot of fiber! Try not eating alot, maybe try eating half a banana. Thats what I did and I don't feel as sick. Also yours stomach might be sensitive to a lot of fiber, so that might lead to a stomach ache. Also if you just eat it plain, you are more likely to get a stomach ache. Hope it Helps

I have this exact same issue and had a stomach scope done because the doctors thought I had an ulcer. It turns out I have a Hiatal Hernia (was most likely born with it) and since the acid pools near the top of the stomach and into the esophagus certain foods cause an "attack" such as banana's, Strawberries, green peppers and raspberry vinaigrette. Since I found out I had this I just avoid those foods and seem to be just fine.

I recently developed this issue with bananas a few months ago which really sucks because they are my favourite fruit. It was so weird, I used to eat them every day in the morning before class and then one day i had to run to the washroom because I almost threw up. I had such intense cramps that I had to leave and go home. Since then bananas make me feel sick and give me awful cramps. If i eat banana bread the cramps aren't as bad but they're still there.

I have a friend who developed an allergy to gluten, dairy and eggs within the past two years so because of all of the tests and doctor's visits shes become quite knowledgable about allergies. She mentioned that her doctor said that allergies change every 7 years and they can also change when your hormones change (ie puberty, pregnancy, menopause). This makes sense because when I was a baby i was lactose intolerant but that went away around age 2 and then returned when i was about 8 or 9, then went away again around the time of puberty.

This intolerance to bananas definitely sucks the most though because i love them so much. Actually as I'm writing this I'm crunched over feeling like i'm going to be sick because I stupidly decided to try some sliced banana in my yogurt and granola. If you're having any kind of reaction to bananas such as cramps or nausea my best bet is that you have an allergy or intolerance to them but I'm not doctor so i would suggest going to a doctor to make sure. (I've already made my appointment for an allergy test).

Best of luck everyone

Latex Allergy and Bananas Rubber latex is a milky substance derived from rubber trees. It is used in products such as latex gloves, balloons, condoms and rubber bands. Sensitivity to a protein in the rubber can cause your body to react by producing antibodies called Immunoglobulin E, or IgE. In addition to abdominal cramps, latex allergy symptoms include wheezing, hives and a runny nose. Foods such as bananas contain similar proteins to latex rubber, so if you are allergic to latex, eating a banana may cause similar symptoms. Other foods latex allergy sufferers may be more sensitive to include kiwi, AVOCADOS and European chestnuts. About 3 million Americans suffer from latex allergy, notes the American Latex Allergy Association.
