do heat rash itchy really bad feeling
After shower, use hair dryer to dry area. (This is a p.i.t.a., but it's worth the effort.)
Use Gold Bond powder...not cornstarch!! (My pcp recommended cornstarch but rheumatologist said that just compounds yeast infection.)
Use Tranquility ThinLiner Absorbent Sheets 6" x 10 - I just saw these recommended and got them from Amazon. They really help.
Good luck. I know it's miserable.
DO NOT USE CORN STARCH! If the area has already developed some kind of bacteria, the cornstarch will only feed it. I suffer from the skin fold problem too and the best solution I found is:
1) Wipe the area clean with peroxide and allow to dry thoroughly.
2) Take a medicated talc-based foot powder like Gold Bond and dust it over the skin-fold (I like to use an old blush brush for this).
3) Open the fold, take a tissue and place it against your skin, then allow the fold to flop back and hold the tissue in place. Replace it every 3-4 hours or if humid.
The footpowder may burn the first time you apply it, as your skin may be tender, but it really keeps things clean, dry and relives itching instantly plus, being talc-based, will not feed bacteria. Adding the tissue does two things, first it absorbs any sweat, oil, or humidity that seeps past the powder and then it helps provide a barrier between the skin in the fold so there is little to no friction aggravating the problem. This is the method I follow every time my skin-fold rash shows up and I'm "cured" by the next day.
i find that the tissue crumbles to pieces when it gets wet from the heat under the fat. I use flannel material. that way you can throw it in the wash and reuse them. also the Gold Bond works great.
I tried cider vinegar between my breasts and it seems to be getting better. Read about it in a previous post.
