If you even think it is a yeast type of infection, never use powder with cornstarch, as it only feeds the yeast infection and makes it worse.
I've had this same issue and it only has gotten worse over the years. Its actually called Intertrigo and it's a combination of things, not just yeast. It can be fungal or viral too. And you can't treat all three of them with the same treatments. An easy way to figure out which infection you have is (this may sound horrible but...) odor. If it smells yeasty...literally kind of like bread....you can use products designed to control yeast infections along with zinc oxide like you would find in diaper rash ointments and also use a good anti-itch cream. If the odor is bad (not a yeasty smell but a really bad odor), then you want to use products designed for jock itch or foot fungus because its a fungal infection along with the zinc oxide and anti-itch. This will help with the viral too except you probably want to add an anti-biotic ointment along with the other three....that works particularly well for those days that you've scratched too much and bleed. It sucks, but in this situation you kind of have to be your own doctor. And it all sounds pricey but on days when I'm low on cash, I get all of these products from the dollar store and they work just the same as name brand. I hope this information helps someone out there. Oh, p.s. before you start any of these treatments you want to wash the affected area with anti-bacterial soap or baby shampoo. You want a really soft soap so that you don't develop and irritation from the infection AND the soap.
I have the belly skin issue and am having a really hard time right now as I have moved to South Korea from the states and it is getting very hot and humid here and I walk everywhere. It itches and burns and I have always used baby powder and I have been using the medicated kind lately but this is the heaviest I have been and this is the worst rash I have had ever. I also normally use Buttpaste that I used on my daughter and it usually clears up in a day but this time, it has been about 4 or 5 days and I am miserable. I even tried washing it with my neutrogena acne wash in the shower and I have butt bath for my daughter and I took a bath with that, still not better.
I have this problem during the summer months. Very hot and humid in Alabama. I went to the dermatoligist last year and she prescribed Ketoconazole and a prescription strength hydrocortisone cream. Instructed me to mix in equal amounts and apply to affected area. She said I could also apply Nystatin powder or tinactin powder in conjunction with creams. This combination will heal rash in most cases. It also helps to keep as cool as possible, as others have said, sleep in the nude, let area get as much air as possible. I hope this helps :)
I have the same thing but mines looks like eczema (hope I spelled that right) it is very icthy ... I have to keep it oiled with baby oil. If not it will itch me like crazy.
Like you Janna I get this under my stomach and it gets so bad that it leaves a terrible smell to where I don't even want to be around people because it smells so bad. I wish there was something I knew to use, because I can not afford to go to the doctor when this happens. I get it well and then I get it again so what over the counter product can I use to help me.
Markos, Thanks for your advise . I might add that if you are sitting all day at a desk, the area will continue to stay itchy and the rash does not disappear because when you sit you are keeping the skin areas touching (well for me that is true). I have had this for months and tried all of the things you suggested and then some but I still had the rash. I have been wearing cotton clothing so that the area will dry or at least evaporate faster when the skin is damp. I am trying to loose weight to eliminate this issue for me that seems the only way. I also am wearing a Spanx garment to hold my stomach in and not let skin be next to skin. It helps!
Simple babies nappy cream - I find sudocrem works best.
I dry the area thoroughly by tucking a towel across the area. Carefully remove towel and the slather with A & D ointment (found in baby section at the store). Then the yeast can't "breathe". Too much cleaning of the area can actually exacerbate the problem. I never use soap, I just rinse well with water. Soap seems to do nothing but irritate.
I have this problem too. :( Losing weight for me will not help. I am very overweight. When I lose weight it just makes the fold longer. People who suggest losing weight don't understand the problem. :( The only way would be to lose weight and have it cut off. 8-| I have been tucking the band of my underwear there and it helps keep it dry. I was wondering if there was something else I could tuck under the fold. Maybe a cloth diaper strip. I don't want to apply powers and sure not creams or petroleum gel. ewww. :-)
I have the same issue , I been taking baths or showers , standing in front of the fan , I will not clean with anything but use water.
Under my stomach it's been sore alittle , I put some medicine on after I dry off and stand in front of the fan .

I'll make an appointment with my doctor . I'll sleep nude with a towel underneath my stomach ..so it wont be skin on skin.
Only time I end up getting this is hot summers . Each one of you've infomative information , what to do . As far as weight
I been losing since Jan 2013 , I eat 4 small meals a day and working out .
Keep up with the good work , helping each other ..... It's stressful ..........
Does anyone make a cotton apron designed to be worn UNDER the belly flap? Perhaps I should start sewing them. They can be split up the middle for guys and left solid for ladies. I call it a belly apron. It would tie around the hips. Someone suggested soft flannel. Any suggestions?
I have also had this problem for years. I have been morbidly obese for much of that time. Yes, I use Gold Bond Powder after every shower, and I find that taking acidophilus tablets keeps the yeast under control. I also eat a low carbohydrate diet (no bread, rice, pasta, starchy veggies, no high sugar fruits, and definitely NO sugar) and that has helped IMMENSELY. I take the acidophilus to this day and even in the summer this year I have been able to avoid the rash under my stomach, behind my knees and under my bra line. I find that if I stop the acidophilus or I eat higher-carb foods, the rash comes back. Best wishes!
This is a severe problem for me. Unfortunately, I have had too many surgeries there to the point that I have a very unnatural looking bulge that can;t go past the scars. I had an ectopic pregnancy; the incision was all the way between the two pelvic bones. Then I had a C-section to deliver my twins with basically the same bone to bone scar. Next, I had my tubes tied, so I had two smaller incisions also along the same scar line. After that I had a hysterectomy, again with the two smaller incisions and finally, an oopherectomy to remove one of my ovaries. Couple this with my pregnancies--four kids--single vaginal birth, C-section for twins, and a VBAC. I think my only hope is a tummy tuck. I am looking for some kind of absorbant, disposible, product that will not allow the skin to touch during the day and that won't show through clothes. SPANX or other control panties push the fleshdown over itself which just makes the area sweat more. My gynocologist gave me an anti-fungal cream, but that just seems to stay wet. Any ideas beyond what has already been suggested?
