Hello!
I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

I first noticed I had this weird problem around August last year, I automatically googled it 'as you do then I made a visit to the doctors. He took a look up my nostrils then gave me a prescription for a Beconase spray with a steroid treatment in as he thought I possibly had a nasal infection. I used the spray as prescribed but didn't see an immediate effect in fact it was about 5 days later as the smell started to diminish. I was happy that it relieved the problem but low and behold came back again breifly in January. Luckily I had a little bit of spray left so I used it for about 3 days and again the smell disappeared... until now. It's back again with a vengeance I've got an appointment tomorrow and I will demand to be sent for tests as it's driving me nuts!!

I also have this smelling smoke problem. 3 months ago I fainted at home and smacked my head on the kitchen floor - I did not go to hospital but checked over by paramedics etc. Since this head injury I have lost my sense of taste and smell and for the last 2 - 3 weeks have noticed I can only smell one thing - the smoky burning smell?! Haven't been to docs yet to get checked out but it drives me mad as its constant. I can smell it most of the day! Quite shocking to hear how many others suffer from this condition too.

I am also relieved that I am not the only one with this issue! I haven’t seen any comments about the smoke choking them, as well. The smoke chokes me all of the time. It becomes hard to breathe. Does anybody else experience that?
We don't have an Iconic Breeze and my wife has just started smelling smoke and nasal congestion, so I don't think that is your problem.
often times it is caused by a sinus infection, common cold or allergies.
This smelling of phantom cigarette smoke began happening to me sometime yesterday and continued all day today. I am already so annoyed, so I can only imagine how awful it has been for those suffering with this for weeks, months, years!
I recently had surgery a week ago under general anesthesia for gynecological reasons and was administered antibiotics in my IV. (Unsure which kind). I had some damage to the back of my throat from the breathing tubes and later developed a lot of chest congestion with a productive cough (no other symptoms) so I believe this to be related to being under the anesthesia.
I have been home recovering on semi-bed rest, which means I have spent a lot of time in front of my laptop. I noticed a lot of people mentioning laptops, so I thought I'd mention this. My laptop gets hot and therefore I use a cooling laptop pad it sits on. That warm air that emits from under it I surely have been breathing in. Unsure if related, but the past two days I have spent the entire days in front of it.
Other things--- I have recently lost 20 lbs on a 30 day juice fast (tomorrow marks day 30). I mention this as a friend asked me if it could be a deficiency of some sort in addition to all my body has recently gone through. I have done many juice fasts in past with no ill side effects. In fact, my health and overall well being is always tons better during these. So, I don't really think it could be related, but I am open to possibilities as the smell of cigarette smoke 24-7 is nauseating!
I do not smoke, never have. I am not around anyone that does, I do not drink coffee at all and I have not been around diesel. I have no evidence of mold in the home and I do not use ionic air nor anything similar.
I do have anemia and have been unsuccessfully treated for it. My recent surgery is in relation to that to try to control heavy menses to hopefully control my anemia better. I was taking iron supplements until about 2 weeks ago. I stopped taking all multivitamins and supplements leading up to my surgery.
I stay very hydrated and live in a high humidity climate. I drink very healthy fresh pressed vegetable juices and after day 15 of my juice fast I added a plant based protein powder.
I do not feel malnourished in anyway, but my friend worries it is related to this odd smoke smell in some fashion.
Some things I have tried so far, albeit unsuccessfully are: stepping outside for fresh air, using a neti-pot nasal rinse, keeping a fresh cut lemon nearby (but, I find I am not able to smell it as well as I did prior to the smoke smell, so not helpful), use of Vicks vapor rub under nostrils (also weak), and tried smelling other strong smells such as my hubby's coffee grounds. One thing I saw on here was someone mentioned cupping hand over nose, while this helped some, it was only temporary.
I have a second surgery next week and I hope this doesn't worsen if this was in anyway related to general anesthesia or the antibiotics I will likely be given again.
I do plan to test the theory about laptops, however. I will steer clear of it and see if this helps in anyway, as like I said I was on the laptop in very close proximity to it and the fan pad blowing beneath it all day yesterday and all day today when all this started for me.
Peace and relief to all -here is hoping!
I have been smelling smoke now for almost 2 months. Driving me crazy!! Went to family Dr got a sinus x-ray. Now going to an ENT, did Endoscopy and found only a partial deviation of my left septum. Now going for an MRI next sat. I smell it at home at work in the car out at restaurants everywhere. Using Vicks dosent help. It's really crazy I just want an answer as to why this is happening. Hopefully one of us can get an answer soon!! Tried seeing if it's one nostril or the other but nope. Also smell it when I open my mouth like tasting it. Also feeling flush now and then not sure if it's related
Also ENT perscribed steriods, been taking for 2 days now and smell is more frequent than before. WTH!!
Ended up at hospital tonight bp 174/83. Not sure what caused it but stopping the steroids now. Can't wait for MRI next sat.
I have this same situation and have now for a few weeks.
Has anyone figured out whe you smell the smoke. I recently started smelling it and its driving me crazy
I have been suffering from smelling smoke ever since I had rhinoplasty to correct my nasal breathing after having broken my nose three previous times. I don’t smoke and hate the smell of cigarettes, no one in my house hold smokes and now I smell cigarette smoke all the time. I thought for sure it was my house but after moving three times the smell stays with me. It’s very disturbing. I assume it must be related to the surgery maybe never damage.
About four years ago I had a severe sinus infection -- so bad I had to sit up at night to breathe &, in fact, was a little worried I still wouldn't be able to breathe. Ever since, I've had times where I smell smoke when there's no smoke around. It's annoying but, fortunately, it's not a constant problem. Anyway, it seems that infection did a number on my sinuses & this is the result.
I wonder if it might also be related to having my sinuses adjusted for implants a few years ago. . . .
For me it's not cigarette smoke...But I live close to where the wildfires were in Northern California and I smell that kind of smoke all the time, every where i go. And the fires are out. This is to the point that my eyes burn!
