Hello!
I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

My husband and I were in Mexico for 6 days, the last day I started smelling cigarette smoke. I thought well maybe it's just all the people I've been around on this traveling day. Welp we are home neither of us smoke and that is all I can smell. I've asked him multiple times threw out the day " Do you smell a cigarette?" And he always says "No". I'm only 29 and the whole tumor in the brain is scary, I'm sure it's not that but you never know. I'm wondering if I got a sinus infection or upper respiratory one. I'm glad to find that this is something and not me going bonkers.

I also think it is sinus related. I wonder if it is a side effect of nasal sprays. Glad I am not the only one experiencing this odd smell.

Anyone correlate with sugar intake?
I"be had a similar issue for several years now. What I be been able to deduce is that it must be some type of yeast or fungal infection.
For me, it flares up really bad when I eat or *drink* lots of sugar. Started at a new job that has free snacks and Gatorade, a few months in this started. I went sugar free for a couple of weeks and it cleared up. Ever since, if I fall off the wagon for more than a week or so, especially with large soda drinks, I get a flare up that can last for weeks.
I suspect the cause was frequent sinus infections treated with antibiotics - killed all my good bacteria and left the yeast (not affected by antibiotics since it is a fungus) to run rampant.
I have seen some correlation from others that after treating a sinus infection with antibiotics this occurs, but no mention of sugar intake. Anyone else change their dietary habits prior to a flare up?
I went my doctors 18 months ago with this . He sent me for a brain scan as he said I could have a brain tumour. It came back negative luckily. The smell went eventually. But it has come back again this last week, but I have noticed my nose is blocked so it must be sinus problems. But I would advise anyone to go the doctors to rule a tumour out.
I have had this happen off and on for 7 years! I thought i was going crazy, delusional! Its followed by intense headaches behind my eyes. I JUST started realizing its worse in the summer when AC units are running!

I have just started taking Paxil about 2 months ago. I started noticing this smoke smell in my sinuses too! It's driving me nuts!
That's when mine bothers me too!
I Googled this because I thought my use of Flonase was causing phantom cigarette smoke smell ( although the neighbors do smoke) but I smell it all the time now. A tumor had never occurred to me and neither did a seizure. Wow!
well I wanted to say that I to have been smelling Cigarette smoke for the past month and a half and the past two weeks its been getting worse and now its an everyday event and constant. I have a CT tomorrow morning so we will see what the outcome is. I will follow up with results, so that others can see. I lost my smell about 5 months ago and didn't think anything of it and didn't mention anything to my doctor till about about a months ago. So when he told me if it gets worse to let him know, which I did and so CT tomorrow. Will see what happens
How did your CT scan go? Any findings?
I too sleep with CPAP and I notice some relief when i clean my mask and tank really well, then couple days later it comes back
I had the smoke smell for about a year then one morning I woke up and my nose was red and really sore (painful to the touch. I felt like I had a sinus infection but none of the congestion that the regular md could see. I went to an ENT and he did a scope and I had an infection in my upper sinus cavity. Antibiotics cleared that up. He told me the smoke smell may be phantosmia and to use saline everyday and a nasal spray (I use Flonase). After about 2 to 3 weeks of doing this the smells went away. I do this routine every morning and have been smell free for months and I can breath better. Hope this helps someone.
