Hello! I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

I have been having the same issue for about a month now .Its all the time and i feel like in in a room full of smokers. It started for me after a head injury and hasn't gone away ,My husband thought i crazy but i see many have the same issue and that its not all in my mind...
I have this problem as well. I work at home and do not smoke nor does anyone in my home. My phantosmia went away during the summer, so it was not the A/C wall units. It was worst last winter and into the spring, gone in the summer and now this week has emerged again. The only things that are different for me now that it started again are that I went back to store-bought hair coloring(L'Oreal Feria) to save money (was going to a salon when it stopped) and I just started taking non-drowsy sudafed for sinus pressure headaches. It has to be the sinuses I'm thinking.
I can't quite remember when it started but for the longest time, I haven't been able to smell out of my left nostril. I have no idea why this started. I noticed today (after reading that Phantosmia can happen in one or both nostrils) that I can smell smoke out of my left nostril. I thought it was both, but I tested it and it only appears in the left one. I don't smell the smoke in my right nostril. I don't know what this means, and I should probably go to the doctors about it. The smell is driving me insane, and it upsets me that whenever I read about what "could" be wrong, I see brain tumors on the list. I'm actually terrified. Hoping it's nothing like that though!
Wow! I too am glad it's not just me and that it's not just 'smoke' but a distinct cigarette type smell... impossible for anyone else to understand something that I thought was crazy but does genuinely seem to be a 'thing'. I HATE the smell so much, feeling sick from the smell constantly.. someone find a solution quick!
I suffered for years then gargled deep & long three times in a row with full strength fresh mint listerine (with the alcohol, not zero) and the smell of cigarettes has not returned! It has been a winderful relief and so far has leasted a few months.
I first noticed the smell of smoke a few months ago, but only upon entering the door from my garage into my house. Since I had my mother's piano close to that area, and she had been a smoker, I blew it off as just being very sensitive to stale smoke smell. However, there have been several times since then when I've sent my husband off on a wild goose chase because I thought something was burning. In this past 2 weeks, it has become almost constant. I've CTscans and MRI for sudden onset double vision which came on 2 1/2 yrs ago. They showed scar tissue from concussions but nothing else. (I still have double vision in right eye). I was put on 60 mg Prednisone for 11 months to treat the vision issues but it was only a bandaid fix and caused numerous other problems. I'm relieved to know others have the same smoke problem but also a little worried that something else might be going on that they missed in the CTs. I do have a neuro appt on the 17th.
This has been me for the last 2 weeks. I am constantly smelling cig. Smoke and it about t drive me insane. I HATE THE SMELL OF CIGARETTES. Please someone tell me what to do to get rid of it! Noone else smells anything but I smell in all day everyday. 2 weeks now!!!!
Hi, I smell smoke also, mostly when I'm indoors or in the car, it drives me crazy and almost feels like it burns the inside of my nose. I did a 2 day water fast fast a couple of months ago and it went away completely, but it has come back almost full time. Note: I have many food intolerance. Could there be a link? Why are so many of us experiencing this symptom?
This smoke smell drives me crazy. I had a grand mal seizure 5 weeks ago, 2nd in 30 years. I was put on Keppra and the following morning started getting the smell. Was then given antibiotics for a sinus infection and the smell disappeared but is back now after the antibiotics are finished. It is intermittent and comes with a post nasal drip? Focal seizure Aura? Keppra? or nerve damage? Anyone in the same boat?
Yes, I experience this a lot. I thought it was just me.
I too have about a week that this has been happening to me as well. It’s not constant but comes and goes all of a sudden. It’s almost as if someone was right next to me smoking and blowing it in my face. It causes me to gasp and struggle a bit to breathe. I thought I was the only one but now I’m worried as to the cause
I am also having this issue. It started a few month ago, and it was just at random times. Now it is constant, it’s really awful and nauseating. Does anyone know what it could be?
Hi, I've also had the same issues until I read up about it, and thus far found anything conclusive. However, what I've tried works for me. I exhale out of my nose for as long as I can, expelling as much reserve air as I can, and then I'm naturally forced to draw in a lot of air in a quick time to compensate. This definitely clears it for me. Let me know if it works for you as well. It still comes back every so often, just repeat the steps a few times.
Oh, that's great...
I'm having the same sensation for the last 2 months but my sinuses are congested all the time, I don't think it's tumor related maybe sinuses related because when i go outside it stops, and it's more noticeable when the air is dry.
