I remember having this as a child. I looked up the dyshidrotic dermatitise & that's exactly what it was. I had this off & on for a couple of years. The doctors tried several forms of treatment. One was a soak. I remember it was brown & smelled awful! I also had some steroid cream. My dermatologist also had what looked (& pretty much was) a tanning bed to put your feet & hands on. After that last treatment with the tanning bed it never recurred. I also learned no matter how bad my hands itch do not scratch them! I put hydrocortisone on as soon as I begin to feel itching. I always wondered what it was & no doctor seemed to know nor did the dermatologist, she just did what she thought would work! My step-grandpa used to swear it was some fungus that was brought over from Vietnam, which bothered me as a child. Anyway, my hands began itching today & feet (I got it on both) & I thought hmmm..surely there's something online about it. Thanks for all the help & answers!!

Same ingredient as Flonase, it's a corticosteroid.

You guys, this is eczema. All of the case described below also sound like eczema. It is very common, and can be managed with cortisone cream. Ultimately you will want to clean up your diet and it will stop appearing. Avoid soap and too much hand washing. Use a dish brush or rubber gloves to wash dishes rather than immersing your hand in soapy water. Oatmeal based hand lotion like Aveeno helps, but cortisone cream will give immediate relief. Go to the doctor and get a prescription.

You are not alone I have been experiencing this problem for about a year now I am a sous chef in a five star restaurant I assumed I had an allergy to something. But my research is turning out that I either have a protein deficiency coupled with eczema and psoriasis I have recently started using Cortizone-10 cream maximum strength for psoriasis and eczema it does seem to help a lot and I've been trying to increase my protein intake you should give it a try and see if it helps you

I too have had this since I was a teen. My Dad had a very mild case. Now my daughter has it too.

It gets better with age. At least it did for me. In my teens it was so bad I would get it on and between my fingers, palms, and underneath my finger nail. It would progress to wear my nail would grow damaged and look lumpy as well as unattached to the skin underneath. The itching kept me awake at night and was at times unbearable.

Now, in my 40s I get a tiny bubble here and there with a small itch which heals on its own. It's been years since I've had a flare.

My daughter is 10 and has had this for a few years. It's bad for her. Her fingers get so raw looking, both painful and itchy.

Thank you for the suggestions on creams that have helped you.

These posts are old, but thought I would reply should this come up in a search for someone. I suffered from the same condition for years. It finally went away when someone told me the trick was to avoid getting your hands hot. No rubber gloves, no hot water - get a dishwasher. As soon as I avoided as much as possible, doing anything that would cause my hands to perspire - it went away. Until it did, hydrocortisone cream gave me a great deal of relief.

I'm having this issue too!!! On my hands, palms and in between my fingers and I'm also getting t on my toes!!! On my hands/fingers I notice it gets really itchy before any bumps are even visible! Once I start scratching the little tiny pink bumps show up and shortly after that they fill up with a clear liquid!! They are very very tiny!!! Then it peels and my fingers and or palm gets very rough and callously feeling!! It's been going on for about a year now and it seems to flare up about once a month!!! The toe ones just started about a month ago and they may be something different!!! The toe ones seem to get really really itchy at night time when I'm trying o sleep!!! I wonder if it could have anything to do with bad circulation? Idk. But it is very irritating!!! Also the more Itch it (on hands and toes) the more it spreads!! And it burns like and stings a bit after itching!!!

I've had this happening for the past 3 years. It occurs more often if I'm overstressed but more so because I'm dehydrated. I too went to a doctor and was told it was ezema. Through trial and error of my own with diet etc I've managed to be able to stop it in its tracks as soon as the itching starts I almost double my water intake and it disappears. I also cut sugar out. Hope this info is helpful?

I am 29 year old Asian male, this happens to me as well.
I started noticed them in my 20s, but this year as of 29 is the worst I ever have.
Most likely because I started drinking so much coffee, 2 cups a day + occasionally Starbucks and thus the intake of water went down.

Hi! Been a bartender for years but this whole past year I had a horrible flair up same symptoms. Citrus, soap, even bacon fat from a paper towel turned my hands on fire and they swelled up and bubbled, dried up and cracked so that I couldn't even look at my own hands. Embarrassed. (Never happened before and eat bacon all the time. )
Anyway went to Dr finally and Aristocort R ointment along with regular Vaseline to keep moisture in my hands has pretty much given me relief after a year of cortisone creams and other remedies that did not work. Wish I could post a pic of before and after. Three days my hands are even back to normal color and no pain or swelling or bubbles or dry cracks or peeling skin. Good luck everyone!

Corticosteroids (cream did not work on me) tabs and injections helped me it just vanishes and your hands turns as soft as baby skin, again please do consult a specialist.
BTW I do have addison's hence the tabs and injections the side effect was soft itch free skin on my hands and feets and other spots like that was vanished. Also I got normal colored palms and feets previously it was a mess, dark spots hard spots, could not even stretched palms or make a fist if I did hell on earth presented to me bleeding and always feels like my pain receptors were in overdrive and palms got pepper sprayed periodically, the whole horror package, couldn't wear anything that frictions with my skin, could not wear shoes, it was that bad.
