I've had these for years and years now. Nothing people have suggested has worked except Hibiclens. It's an antimicrobial wash that you can buy at places like Rite Aid or any big chain drug store. It's essentially staph that you're getting on your butt. Someone mentioned it before. Usually when you pick or rub your nose and then scratch your body, you transmit it because Staph colonizes in the nose. Whenever I see one pop up now (mostly on the butt but sometimes on the body and arms or even legs) i clean it with hibiclens and put a bandaid on it with a little hibiclens on it. It's worked for years. But you have to catch them early because they can spread fast. I spent the week at my sisters house and ignored a few for a day or two and now I have an outbreak. The biggest I've had in years. Like 10 on my butt and some on my body and arms. And I'm not an acne sufferer so I can tell you for sure it's not that. Good luck.

My best advice: Soak in the hottest water you can stand. Fill the bath water up to your hips. ( like you would a Sitz bath.) I usually stay in there 15 to 20 minutes. I take them three times a day. Then after bath I get a rag and I soak it in water and drain it. Then I put in a ziploc bag. I microwave each side for 15 seconds till it gets warm enough. I leave that on there for again 15 to 20 minutes. The redness and swelling should go down in a week or so. Depending on the size. Whatever, you do DO NOT pop it. Don't stick a pin in it.. etc. It will be world war 3 if you try to pop it, if it hasn't come to a head. Well best of luck and I hope it goes away! I know they are painful but I hope this helps. :)

I have struggled with these non-healing sores on my buttocks and legs for years.  They are along the line of saddle sores or bed sores, and once you start getting them you have a serious problem.  They hurt, they can endure for months, they go away and come back,  they leave deep discolored very ugly scars which are really just dormant sores.  Doctors are completely useless in dealing with these things, which seem to be staph and / or strep related.  There is no single solution, and certainly no magic bullet, but I have finally, I believe, found a way to deal with them and actually (hopefully) COMPLETELY eliminate them forever.

You will build a multifacted, long term approach to the problem, and you MUST have these items to begin: 1) Hibicleanse or Walgreen's version of chlorhexidine gluconate (we'll call this CG).  This is what physicians use to scrub their skin with before surgery; note that they scrub with this stuff for 5 or more minutes.  SCRUBBING is what you will be doing, and scrubbing with CG will make the difference.  2) ASAP 365 Silver Gel.  This stuff is an absolute miracle and beats ANYTHING you can get from the dermatologist.  Get it at Amazon and read the reviews.   There are other silver compounds as well, but I haven't tried them.  You MUST get a silver (antimicrobial) gel or other liquid, not an ointment.  3) Hydrogen peroxide, preferably in the spray bottle, easily available.  4) A good scrubbing pad or brush.  I prefer a brush because it is more aggressive, but a good loofa pad will do.  It is important to have a very good scrubber.  Wash cloths and smooth surfaced cloths won't do it.

You MAY add these items into the mix: Phisoderm, Phisohex, Betadine, liquid salicylic acid wash.  Any of these may be good for long term maintenance, which you will need.  Also, you may well need some good quality large cloth (not plastic) bandages to use in the beginning.   Also, possibly jojoba oil; avoid other oils and ointments.

Clindamycin (Dallacin T, Cleocin T) MAY be of some use, but don't worry about this one unless you have some on hand (it's prescription).  Get the ASAP 365 or equivalent for sure.

Nothing else is of any real use here, and specifically avoid Tea Tree Oil, benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid (but the wash is fine), azalaic acid, pimple solutions of all kinds, hydrocortisone, topical anti bacterial and anti fungal solutions and anything other that what I have listed above.  No ointments or mineral oil based topicals.  These items either do not really help and / or may well make the situation worse.  Beware of temporary solutions which are just illusions

Begin by spraying the entire area with the hydrogen peroxide.  Then coat the sores liberally with the CG; you can mix in some of the ASAP 365 onto the skin at this point if you want.  Onto your brush or loofa scrubber put any of the other optional items listed above, but the salicylic acid wash is most useful as a carrier.  Add as much CG and / or silver gel as you want at any point.  Do NOT use water in this procedure; use hydrogen peroxide or the SA wash as needed.  Now start scrubbing.  Scrub for at least three minutes, using plenty of CG, and longer is better--think of the physician scrubbing pre-op.  The sores may get sore and bleed a little, and this is perfectly fine.  Scrub, scrub, scrub.  Then let the entire scrubbed area sit for a couple of minutes.

Now rinse the area off completely--you MUST rinse after the CG scrub.  Obviously it is best to do this before a shower, but you'll want to repeat all this before going to bed as well.  Showering or bathing is perfect because you are getting a thorough rinse / soak with hot water at this point.  Dry the area off completely.  Finally, spray the entire area with the hydrogen peroxide again, and liberally apply the Silver Gel to the sores.  If you have time now do another light scrub with JUST the hydrogen peroxide and the silver gel (no more CG at this point)--this is an excellent way to work the gel into the sores.  Do NOT rinse after this scrub.  Finish up with one more application of silver gel and let the area dry up before dressing.

If you have very bad and painful sores alter your procedure so that you can make a high quality cloth band aid stick to the area (needs to stay all day, can be difficult).  Put a liberal amount of the ASAP 365 onto the area and then you MAY coat the pad of the bandaid with the jojoba oil to soften the abrasive qualities.  Jojoba has antimicrobial properties and seems to not irritate skin, but watch it closely.  You may have to use bandaids to help with the healing for some time, but stop using them as soon as you can.

If you're serious about getting rid of these little monsters commit to doing this two times a day or more for at least a month, then go onto maintenance.  Be very patient and do not expect this to go away in three days.   At any time during the day you can easily and quickly reapply the hydrogen peroxide and the silver gel, or at least the silver gel, without further scrubbing, and doing so is excellent; just let it dry before putting clothing back on.  Do NOT apply anything else as part of this procedure.  Slathering too many things on the area will just irritate and make it worse, and applying ointments seals the area off from air, which the skin needs to dry out and heal.  That's why the ASAP 365 gel is so great--it dries out and disappears while doing its job.

Obviously there are variations to this procedure, but to make it work you MUST scrub with CG and hydrogen peroxide, rinse thoroughly with hot water and apply liberal amounts of silver gel.  Repeat this for as long as it takes (this is a very difficult problem to reverse), and then get into a maintenance routine on the susceptible area after this.  If you stop doing this before you beat the problem it will just come back on you and be even worse.  And if you find anything else along the way that works let us all know.  Good luck!

I know this is a year old thread but a disease you are all describing is called hidradenitis suppurativa. I have it. It took me over 10 years to get a diagnosis so if even one person gets this response and it helps them then good.

I've had normal sized boil shaped, discoloured pimples on my butt as far as I can remember but once I started looking at my body and saw how bad they were I decided to try a few things after doing some research. My skin elsewhere on my body is smooth and healthy - only the area that was covered by my panties was filled with red-brown tiny pimples. Things that have helped:

1) Wearing no panties at night - sleeping in soft loose cotton pyjamas.

2) No tight jeans - loose cotton bottoms all day.

3) Applying coconut oil on my butt before a bath, hot shower allowing your butt to be fully hit by searing hot water, scrubbing with a mild natural scrub daily. Do not miss a bath - it gets worse otherwise. After bath - let your ass dry out properly, sprinkle some baby powder/medicated powder before you put on underwear.

You could use cocobutter or something else with vitamin E to keep the butt soft and scar-free. Coconut oil works wonders but since it is oil do not put too much and make sure you wash it off.

4) Do not cover your butt with extra layers- need to let the sweat evaporate. Use cotton thongs, things that let the ass breathe.

5) I am addicted to coffee so can't give it up but I have cut it down to 1 cup a day. Can't do without my morning cuppa. Eliminating sugar and alcohol from the diet drastically reduced the no. and size of my butt pimples.

6) If you can sunbathe your ass then do it like 15 mins everyday- I've heard that it helps a lot. Unfortunately I live in such an area where sunbathing is impossible.

7) Do not touch your ass or poke your pimples. try to wash your butt everytime you've sweated a lot like after workouts, sex or dancing.

Hope this helps.

I have kind of the same issue. I noticed it because when I sat I could feel it and it would hurt and I end up sitting on a lot of hard surfaces. Eventually I grabed a needle, burned the tip of bacteria and popped it. There seems to be layers or something because I still feel it even though where was a lot of drainage. It was nasty but now it doesn't hurt as bad. Just pop it like you would with any pimple and stick a bandaid over it if it's still bleeding... which I don't think it should bleed too much after. It helped me so I hope it helps someone else.

If it is deep under the skin and hurts really badly and takes a day or so for the head to surface and is really really painful when you try to squeeze it. That is a form of staff it is not a pimple from puburity.

(Deep folliculitis) starts deeper in the skin surrounding the hair follicle and affects the entire hair follicle. Signs and symptoms include: A large swollen bump or mass Pus-filled blisters that break open and crust over Pain Possible scars once the infection clears Boils and carbuncles: These occur when hair follicles become deeply infected with staph bacteria. A boil usually appears suddenly as a painful pink or red bump. The surrounding skin also may be red and swollen. The bump then fills with pus and grows larger and more painful before it finally ruptures and drains. Small boils usually heal without scarring, but a large boil may leave a scar. A carbuncle is a cluster of boils that often occurs on the back of the neck, shoulders, back or thighs. Carbuncles cause a deeper and more severe infection than does a single boil. As a result, they develop and heal more slowly and are likely to leave scars.

Put vaporub to make the white head come out try to leave it on 24 hours once it's more tender and not so hard use a metal pimple popper....I'm not kidding they have those....it's like a flat metal piece with a hole in the middle and all you do is press down on it with the head of the pimple in the middle and all that pus will come out.....clean it with soap and water....throw so antibiotic ointment on it and a bandaid and you'll be good to go (: try exfoliating and mederma for scars (:

I think the cause is increase or decrease of testosterone or some other hormone. I never get them and I got a big one yesterday. Popped it easy, blood mostly and it healed fine as of now. about the size of a dime which to me seems big and the skin was real thin just before I squeezed it. I have taken some trebulis pills and another testosterone pill to naturally increase so I think that is what the cause must be. or sitting and driving a lot as well. I'll rub the soap bar more too in the shower. Tough to reach though.
