I will share info on my Boxer, Bella. 60mg Veteryol. Higher does are risky for sickness and dying. This way she has a higher quality of life. Vet said to fee her veggies (carrots for sure) and other greens. No corn or potatoes. Baked chicken. Now I fee all 3 of my Boxer girls this food. They love it. Bella is on thyroid pills, too. So far helping her. She lost 20 lbs but needed to lose it. She may have up to one year to live with Cushings.

Can you advise amounts of your recipe? My dog has been border line cushings for over a year and this fully diagnosed. I have him on melatonin and flax seed Lignans, and adrenal gold harmony.. But recently he's showing limping signs and weakness in a hind leg. I'm a lil hesitant to take him back to specialist who leans on putting him on trilostane. Please email me... ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private e-mails is not allowed*** *** all questions should be discussed on our website *** Please read our Terms of Use

I have a 13 yr old sharpei/chow mix. A couple yrs as borderline cushings and now diagnosed. Since october he's been on melatonin, flax seed lignans, and adrenal gold harmony ( pet well being) . Over the last couple of days I've noticed weakness in hind legs and limping. He's had panting, frequent urination, always hungry...
I'm so afraid to call dr because next step is trilostane and I hear the drug is aggressive. I'm about 45 min -1 HR from specialist dr... And so hesitant.. In case I cannot get him there quickly.
My dog is about 80 pounds... And I'm not that strong to lift him, if needed. Help.. Advise?

THIS IS WORKING FOR ME AND BELLA: VIA VET: 60MG VETORYL. THIS IS THE LOW DOSE. I HAVE THREE PUPS BUT BELLA HAS CUSHINGS. FOOD TWICE A DAY: ONE CAN OF STRING BEANS OR ONE CAN PEAS, AND ONE CAN OF BLACK BEANS (ORGANIC) DIVIDED FOR THREE. SOMETIMES I BOIL CARROTS FOR THEM. i BUY ONE 6LB CHICKEN (PURDUE NO ANTIBIOTICS. ETC) AND BAKE IT AT HOME. LAST TWO OR THREE DAYS FOR THREE PUPS. DOGS. ONCE A DAY A VETORYL TABLET. THYROID PILL TWICE A DAY. IT IS WORKING TO KEEP HER SOMEWHAT ENERGETIC. SLEEPS ALOT BUT NOT AS MUCH AS SHE DID. STILL DRINKS LOTS OF WATER BUT NOT A MUCH AS BEFORE. HER SKIN IS SHOWING SIGNS OF CUSHINGS. BLACK MARKS ON HER TUMMY. SHE NOW GOES OUT MORE WITH THE OTHER TWO GIRLS. PUPS. JUST WANT A GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE BEFORE SHE PASSES.

I agree with you! Research the foods and treats you are giving your beloved furbabies. My 12Lb Doxie was diagnosed with severe cushings the day before Thanksgiving, one year ago. She almost died Christmas Day, he belly partially flipped and kinked her esophagus. I have spent close to 10,000.00 on her, and I would do it again, unfortunately, I believe she is currently in the last stages of her short life. She is 10, she has been on Vetoryl for over a year, I believe it has given her this extra year, but she doesn't have much quality of life. I have taken her to multiple Vets, Specialists, and Holistic Vets, they have all told me that I have done everything I can do at this point. My girls eat Honest Kitchen Marvel Turkey and Parsnip, it's dehydrated food, and it is very gentle on the liver, which is very important for ill pets. It is expensive, but worth every penny and then some. They also have a Marvel Fish which they like also. Shark oil is good to put on their food also. I alternate between shark oil and salmon oil. Basic pet store dog food is poison! Grains are terrible for animals. I also learned that the two things animals are most allergic to are checkin and beef, which most people feed their animals. That's not just for dogs and cats, that's for all animals. Goats milk is good for them too.

My Doxie had severe weakness in her hind legs and still does. I did Laser Therapy until it stopped working, then I did acupuncture, until it stopped working, then I did electroacupuncture, unfortunately, the cushings is not improving, it is taking a major toll on her poor little body and nothing is working. She almost died on Christmas day last year. He belly flipped and kinked her esophagus. I also added a holistic herbal powder to her food which helped for a short period also. She has been taking Vetoryl for over a year.

I was told by my Vet in order for Bella (8yr old) to be more active she had to lose weight. So Carrots (boiled) and another veggie plus cooked chicken would help. (I buy as much organic as I can find) so I fed her and she lost nearly 20 lbs. She is on Veteroyl / 60mg. I don't want any higher. 60 ml is ok. Helps her with her hind legs. She is actually running (some) with the other two dogs. Anyway. This is working for Bella and me. She is also on Thyroid meds. I have a couple of 'formulas' from Paw Healer. Helps with water usage and urination. But not a lot. Some. She wakes up all night to urinate. Bella was diagnosed Aug 5, 2017. Cushings.

my dog has been on hills diet W/D for years now at $160.00 a bag. we only feed him with this food and he has recently been diagnosed with cushings. So, I am unsure about the quality of foods being an issue, in our case anyway...
