My dog was diagnosed with Cushings yesterday, I don't know what to expect we love her dearly, she's 5 so not that old, I see a lot of good story's on here, we brought her to the U of Minnesota, and got the first round of test over, so we can hopefully start a program fast, it sound like its going to be real expensive, if anyone has any advice I would definitely appreciate

Hi I have a 13 year old feemale Jack Russell Kayla who has had Cushings disease for nearly 3 years and she is on 40mg of Trilostane every day but now she is whining and crying all the time even though I feed her twice a day. My question is it worth me putting her on cushex drops?

My almost nine yr old Boxer, Bella, is on 60 mg of Vetoryl. Her worst times are doing the night. Up every 1 to 3 hours. all night long. Hungry all the time. What I would do is have chicken cooked and giver your pup slivers of chicken. She won't get heavy eating this. I give Bella some small treats or pieces of chicken to help the hunger. I give her veggies and chicken, too, for meals. You can give more of these as calories are low. Hope this helps.

My 11 year old Boston Terrier just died and I believe it was Cushings Disease. I took her to the Vet and they never said anything, but just gave her meds. for UTI. When I never saw any improvement I started researching and came to the conclusion on my own, but it was too late. Her excessive hunger and panting, thrist, paw licking and brownish color on her white chest all indicated Cushing. Hind site tells me around Oct 2015 looking at her fur. She had complete tests in April 2015. She passed Dec. 2017. Her lethargy, and increased urination was just considered old age. My point, she lived 26 months untreated. She had an appetite and good spirit until late October 2017. I carry great guilt, but now I know the signs, and have read about Adrenal Gold and phosphatidyl-serine for cortisol suppresion and milk thistle for liver which provide positive outcomes for some dogs. IN the end her liver and kidneys shut down.

Nice to read other posts, I'm at a loss for what to do for my chihuahua mix she just turned 13 yesterday... she was diagnosed with diabeties November of 2016 and last summer with cushings. I'm not treating her cushings, but wonder if sometimes I should. She also has liver disease. My vet said he thought I would have last her years ago. She has gone through so much it will be a year ago also she has a cancer tumor removed from her liver the size of an orange. Any other thoughts or ideas.

So sorry to hear about your Boston terrier. Did she pass at home?? I don't want my little girl gong through a painful death, it scares me...
Mine also has cushings I'm not treating and diabeties I am. She has had pancreatitis twice.
Her back end is weak, and her hair is thin and her face bony

A good treatment is Vetoryl. But the 60 mg tablet. Also, My Bella is on a Thyroid med, too. The Vetoryl does help the symptoms. But higher doses are dangerous. That is what I read from others. My Vet is working with me. I don't want my Bella to go through a painful death, either. Which is why I take her to the Vet about every six weeks now.

We started OCO and it has been a miracle drug for my yorkie. She moves around much better, plays, eats and drinks. Works wonders for pain management and only takes a tiny amount. I place it in organic pumpkin because it does not smell very good.

You are absolutely wrong. My dog has Cushings and SARDS for 3 years and she is on Trilostane and gets monitored every 3 months (ACTH) test. She is 9 years old and holding her own. Please don’t give dog parents a time limit because each dog is different. If cared for properly the dog can live a long life

Our chihuahua has been doing well for over two years now on Adrenal harmony drops 2x a day, ligans for life flax lignans 2x a day, dentamarin once a day and ginkgo drops for pets that we get on line too from Hawaiian pharmacy. She has a beautiful coat also. We feed her canned Royal Canin low fat GI. We put the drops and lignans right into her food and the pill is one daily on an empty stomach. I hope this helps as much as it has our girl who had a very enlarged liver and very high levels at diagnosis.
