LUNG PAIN AFTER PNEUMONIA

BACK IN AUGUST 2005 I HAD PNEUMONIA AND WAS HOSPITALISED FOR 2 WEEKS. JUST LIKE OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH MY CHEST EVEN THOUGH MY DOCTOR SAID MY XRAYS ARE FINE. I GET PAIN IN MY RIGHT LUNG ON COLD MORNINGS AND STILL GET BREATHLESS. EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME
OHMYGOSH I'm fifteen and also a Taekwondo (WTF not ITF) player. I had an X-ray because the doctor knows I have asthma and she said I might have pneumonia because I had really bad cough for quite some time and the results showed that I had right basal pneumonia. I took antibiotics for a week, and I think I got better. But my right lung is painful during the night and I also feel pain in my thighs when just simply going down the stairs. I'm so glad I found someone that had a similar experience as to what I'm going through right now :)

I am reading this as I currently was diagnosed with pneumonia and am on predisone and antibiotics. I got to feeling a bit better in 3 days of the meds and did more housework than I should have as this morning the pain is back not only in my side but my back also! I cannot imagine the pain you went through though, my goodness! I am now going to take better care of myself and tell my husband to get busy doing the things I normally would do!
I do want to comment on your early menopause. I went into it at 41 (now 60) and gained 35 pounds almost starving to not gain any more weight! Until I went on estrogen and progesterone the weight gain did not stop. After those meds, the weight came off itself after a year and no more hot flashes! Just a suggestion. A lot of women I know try OTC help for those problems, my scripts were $5.00 each for 3 months supply's with insurance. It is not like you be on them forever. You get your weight back down and your confidence back and then decide with you doctor what to do at that time. I stayed on them for some time just cause of the night sweats. Best of luck ,KK

Hi,
Apple Cider Vinegar with "The Mother" works for weight loss - Bragg Organic (raw and unfiltered is the best). A tablespoon or two In 8 oz of water (if you can't handle the taste at first, use a little honey). I did this after building up a tolerance 3 times daily and lost 10 lbs over 1.5 months. Also, exercise and clean eating help to expedite the process.
Good luck!
I also had pneumonia in July 2007. I was on a trip to Europe with a friend and we both got sick. She got better and I got way worse. When I got back to the states, I was in the hospital for 5 days and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I even had a spinal tap because they thought my upper back pain was from spinal meningitis. That spinal tap was the worst pain I've ever felt. I was sent home without a clue of what was going on. I returned to the E.R. a day or two later with a blood pressure of 80/22 and puking my guts out in the intake lobby of the E.R. waiting area. An infectious disease doctor figured out I had pneumonia and gave me some of that Barium swallow gunk (Yugh!!!) and an x-ray. My whole right lung was filled up with fluid. I received the drainage plug in the back. It's called a Thoracentesis and it's basically a syringe inserted between your ribs into your lung and draining out all the fluid, puss, and blood that has built up in there. I had pneumonia for a while before they figured it out and there was more than a pint and a half drained! I was in the hospital another 8 days. I saw a pulmonologist and they had me use a breathing tool called a Spirometer, which measures the air coming and going from your lungs. It also helps to strengthen your lung after such a traumatic ordeal. My pneumonia was so bad, they couldn't just give me antibiotics because they wouldn't work fast enough. They had to insert a central line into my arm. It was a tube slightly thinner than a #2 pencil (regular wooden pencil) that entered my upper arm, traveled up toward my neck and down to my heart. 3 times a day, I had to wipe the area of my arm with the open wound and the tube with an alcohol swab, push a syringe of saline into the tube, and then attach a vacuum-sealed pod to the tube so that the medicine could reach my heart in seconds. 3 times a day!! And we had to keep these items in the fridge. So it was freezing. I could feel the really cold fluid traveling inside my arm and chest and it felt awful. I had to go to work with a foam mesh sleeve over the tube for a MONTH AND A HALF! It was one of the worst experiences of my life. And to this day, I am suffering. I cannot get a full breath on my right side. I get out of breath going up a flight of stairs, walking at a fast pace, or even just talking for a while. I moved to Colorado (5,000ft above sea level) and it got worse. I can't even think about running or exercising anymore. I have learned to breath in a way that allows me to function without thinking about the lung, but it is on my mind every day. Try not to feel so down. I have scheduled an appointment with a pulmonologist and I'm hoping they will have some advice. I believe there is scar tissue on my lung that has not been rectified and I'm hopeful that I will one day find a solution. Try getting an appointment with a pulmonologist. If they cannot fix your lung, they may have suggestions that will help you! You can always ask your doctor for an x-ray, too, to see if there is leftover fluid or something. Chin up! I am recovering from pneumonia which began with a rapid onset of chills, shaking and delirium, followed by every pneumonia symptom listed on Web MD. I followed the online advice I read, flood yourself with fluids - water, chicken broth, coconut water, peppermint tea and eat protein from fish and fowl and natural source vitamin A - cooked carrots. Rest as much as possible. Mild exercise twice a day. No eating 2.5 hours before sleeping at night. It ran its course and I was fairly well after 2 weeks, and feeling much better every day now. Happy to mend without doctors or antibiotics.
Yes because it take the inflammation down so the antibiotic can do it job
i had to adjust my thyroid medications after i got ill ten years ago, i make certain i’m runnning top percentile or “ ideal” which is on the hyper end of both t4 and t3 spectrum. hyper still within the “ hyper normal” range. also had to treat t3 - a specialty - if you look you can find doctors who will do right hint the more they charge the better they do- my metabolism is better than it was in my teens. although they cannot figure out why i haven’t been infection free in decade that’s another question

I got pneumonia at the beginning of Nov 2017. I was hospitalized for 5 days and after that i was in AB for 2-3 weeks. After my xray was cleared i still had cough and pain. I was diagnosed asthma. Now i am taking a lot of medicine for asthma. 3 days ago the weather was so cold and i am feeling a strange pain on my back and i am afraid of having pneumonia again :( is there anyone who has an idea about the pain on back?
To Quietly depressed , you’re the Closest thing to my condition is as I’ve read through and I see no one has replied to you , seem sometimes my left lung is so painful I have to sit-up sometimes when I lay down to relieve it, I was put into an induced coma for 16 days over this it’s now four months later out of the hospital and I’m still hurting and like you I can tell on my pain meds are out for a day or two I can tell the difference, I think the pain is from the scarring from pneumonia. The weight you’ve gained concerns me, that’s what I had done before the coma, turns out I had been leading up to organ failure, under the pneumonia and then with it. I went by ambulance to the hospital and that’s when it all came into the picture. You need a Doctor who can help you figure out what is happening. It may be from other places in your body. I am going into having pancreatitis, septicaemia and kidney failure. That’s why I was put into an induced coma, had less than 5% survival chance. I happened to be in a very good location for medical help they fixed everything I lost 40 pounds before I left the hospital and it’s not come back, it’s a long road to recovery, don’t wait to find out why you have this weight, it could be masked by other things.
Best regards
OMG.....I'm so sorry to hear your story! I'm just getting over pneumonia and it's awful...My only words for you are to keep doing what you're doing...I've been ill for a long time with COPD, I can so relate to the personality changes health issues bring..Also, the depression but I've found that staying focused on what I can still do and achieve the strength giver..As for the weight slowly does it and it does fall away...Keep playing my friend!!! It's the only way forward.....
